  1. My mother died 10 days ago. I will never be the same.

There have been hundreds of millions if not billions of mothers who have died before her. But it’s my mother, and I feel as if I am the only one who has ever felt such sorrow and loss – that no one could have possibly experienced this before. I know it makes no sense – but I also know it’s a feeling that won’t go away for a while – maybe years – maybe never.

    I love you mom.

    Dear Hope,

That is how I felt when my brother was killed. Many of my friends have lost loved ones, but I had not really. I was not real close to my grandparents so when they died, it wasn't devastating.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Please know that you have many praying for you in the days ahead.

  2. :offtopic: a little bit.

Hubby and I are going to the Grand Ole Opry March 10 to see ALAN JACKSON. I am so excited. It has been several years since we attended the Opry.

Anyway, just had to share that bit of guitar news with you......

  3. Yeah, Linda, I use mine to fix turkey breast. I have had tons of compliments on how tender the meat is. In fact, I just cooked one the other day and still have one serving left. Hubby even ate alot of it. He would rather have red meat any day, but really like the turkey.

I also make veggie soup, beef short ribs, etc.

    So easy.

  4. ILB,

    Thanks for the meandering!!!

My dad is 84 and quite healthy. He used to go to FL every winter, but sold his trailer there last March, so he is here now.

He gets in his car every day no matter how bad the roads are!!! ARGH!!!!!! I called him the other day and asked if he needed anything and he said that he would be getting out later and would get what he needed. He is feisty. We were not close due to being in such a big family I guess...8 of us.... but I have tried to have a relationship with him since I moved home 2 1/2 yrs ago.

I am thankful for the time that we have had.

    Anyway, now I am meandering...

Glad you had a cool relationship with your dad and sorry that he is no longer here to share your life.

    SOMEDAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Ok, Jonny, just because I haven't posted much and you haven't seen Linda Z's aunt's hat on my head, you don't have to leave for good!!!

Seriously, Jonny, I am now working 2 part-time jobs and don't post alot, but I do read what interests me. I rarely post on the prayer thread, but do pray for the ones that have posted on it.

But, do what you have to do and if you ever make it to KY, let me know.

Hubby and I would love to meet you.

  6. PinkLady,

Don't know if this will help your situation or not, but here goes: I was in twi from 1975 to 1994. My dad and I argued alot about our different beliefs. One day, I finally told Dad it was not worth arguing over, and the best thing for us to do was to talk ONLY about what we did agree on. We have done that for many years now and what a blessing it has been and is.

Dad is 84 now, but can still argue up a storm, but he will catch himself and say "I'd better shut up now". Of course, I just shake my head and agree with him.

It may be hard to do, but I think it could work for you and your daughter also.

    You are in my prayers.

  7. FreeAtLast,

I am so glad that you were able to get the help you needed. We have to listen to our bodies, which do tell us things that we need to know most of the time.

Thanks for sharing a small part of your life with us.

Glad the ex is now paying your rent, but so sad that you had to lose your home.

Take care of yourself. Your children need you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am 50 now and still need my mom!!!!!!!!!

  8. Act2, add a dash of vanilla and a pinch of salt to that cinnamon and you'll think you died and went to heaven. Those 3 are staples in the coffee cube here at work. :love3:

Yeah, Belle, I added the vanilla and salt this morning. Very good and much better than just the cinnamon. Thanks for the tip.

BTW, I still havent ground my Harry and David coffee yet. May not need to for a while!!!!

  9. i'm fairly certain they think wierwille was a man of god

    correct me if i'm wrong

    i say forget it

AFAIK, you are correct. My sister was involved w/CFF for several years. Every time we would get together, she would say, Well you know what DR Wierwille said...blah blah blah..... One nite, I finally said, Mary Ann, he may have said it but he DIDN'T LIVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then she allowed me to tell her what I knew from GS and stopped sending them money and stopped attending their fellowships. She now corresponds with Peter Wade and his group. She is not the church-going type.

Just my opinion of what I have seen with one person, my sister. I was never involved with CFF. TWI was enough for me.

  10. Chas, I tried the cinnamon in the coffee grounds this morning. I had forgotten to grind my good coffee last nite for today and was running late. It was GOOD!!!!!!!!! Maxwell House never tasted so good. heehee

I like the stainless steel idea too. I will try that.

When I sanitize my sink, I always use a paper towel and clean the black rubber thingie that goes to the disposal. It is really gross under there!!! Hubby and I don't even use the disposal that much but it needs cleaning every time I do it.

Also, if you make rice krispies treats as I do, when you empty the marshmellows into the bowl, turn the empty bag inside out and use that to press the treats evenly and throw the bag away. I read that tip a long time ago and don't remember where.

  11. My dad weighs about 120 pounds and has high cholesterol. Guess what??? I do too!!!

Dr. told me to eat 2 carrots daily, take metamucil, fish oil, Citracal, & exercise. Also, I have the beginning symptoms of arthritis so he told me to take an Alleve in the morning and evening. Chol. went from 262 last March to 238 in Sept. I go back in March for another check up.

Was also told to take garlic which I am doing since last month.

It is not fun getting older but I like this versus the other option!!!

BTW, my dad is 84 and my mom is 80. Both their moms lived to be in their 90's!!!

  12. I was a wow twice. Does that count???!! :redface2:

Once, I was asked to help clean a lodge at Shelby Meeman State Park in Memphis for a branch meeting. That is really the only time (except as a wow) that I remembered being asked to perform manual labor.

    I was lucky, I guess!!!!

Most of my local leaders had no children, so again, I was lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!

heehee.... I love to use the 'lucky' word.

Things are slow at work today!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Has it really been 28 years or so since our wow year in MD????

    Anyway, Happy Birthday to you.

PS. I have a pic of you & Kevin that I will email you some day.

Heading to Nashville shortly so I won't be around till Sunday nite or Monday morning.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  14. George,

I am at a loss for words. This hits very close to home for me as I have just finished DVDs for my nephew's wife's family who just buried Cyndie, Missy's sister, several days ago. Missy asked me to make the DVD. There are 139 pictures on it and I put Kenny G's music to it.

I didn't know Cyndie, but I do love Missy who has been in our family for over 16 years.

All this leads up to: Take lots of pictures and as others have said, write down memories with your daughter. It will mean so much to her.

Even if a miracle happens, which I pray that it does, you will still have the pictures and the writings for her for a future time.

  15. I have Pinnacle Studio, but decided to use Windows Movie Maker without reading too much about it.

My nephew's wife, Missy, lost her 39-yr old sister to cancer last week, and she has asked me to make a dvd of pictures of Cyndie and put it to music. I did...except I did it on Movie Maker. Why can't I save it to dvd? What was Movie Maker thinking, not allowing a person to save to dvd????????

So I have a great little movie on CD and need to put it on DVD.

Please help me help Missy. She wants to give these to Cyndie's husband and children for Christmas.
