  1. Yeppers they do WGC offers quite a wide range of courses for a small town college :)-->
  2. Exie...Were you thinking of me when ya had it? :D--> Hey my college is one of like 3 colleges teaching humanistic psych. So far I've had intro (of course) developmental, humanistic and now abnormal
  3. I think you are right ckeer its much deeper than just the power because while they strive to have the power once they have achieved domination they continue striking out at folks. I think it's probably related to what AA call's character defects which oddly enough have a common denominator called fear. LCM had fears that the ministry was being taken over by pillow munching fags --> I'm certain he had delusions of his man'o gawdness ;)--> and there can be little doubt his perception of his leadership and people skills (research skills public speaking skills ...) was vastly overrated... I think there should be a law somewhere that when you rise to the top of an org your power over others should decrease proportionatly.
  4. DM you know not what ye ask I can go on for HOURS on this subject :D--> plus I'm taking Abnormal Psych this semester
  5. Me too so there should be recognisable patterns somewhere.
  6. And so in essence there exists two imbalances, one in the perp and the other in the victim(s)? I think I am confused
  7. I'm beginning to believe that abuse, no matter the style or system (family, governments, religions etc) all follow basicly the same pattern and essentially result from an imbalance of power either percieved or real. I've got a few thoughts on the patterns which can be traced pretty much from one type of abuse(genocide) to another (domestic violence, workplace violence etc) but then again I could be mistaken, what say ye? And as a follow up question, it would seem then that there would be some common ways to deal with abuse such as education and self empowerment. So what say ye again?
  8. Thanks Zix :)--> I'll need another pov and insight as this develops. Right now the college is quoting me commercial film rates for the production work. The consensus is a digital shoot as it reduces overall costs considerably and will do all that we require. One of the groups recently hired a media production person and is willing to do that part of the work as well as locate and manage the $ which is fine by me as that means less work fer the herbalmeister (I am a firm believer in letting the experts do what they are expert at). I am hoping to be able to mostly write scripts and locate on camera experts. Keep yer fingers crossed Hey Steve n Cindy, I lost yer address and believeitornot I have that bowl packaged and setting on the counter waiting to be mailed herbiejuan@hotmail.com
  9. Thank you for your input :P--> So far the Upper Chattahoochee River Keepers, Carroll Tommorrow, Georgia Organics and Chatt Flint have expressed interest and I just got off the phone with a civic group that has committed to providing funding :)--> and technical assistance. Time to sharpen the pencil :D-->
  10. WWJLA Hey I hear ya! only I spent 20 yrs dating this one girl... I guess the real question is have you ever heard of a snipe hunt??? ;)--> Once we get closer to the actual roast we'll set up a meeting spot either at a cabin or main campsite so folks can find us when they arrive. I would like to get an idea of who is bringing what in terms of food and cooking equiptment. Hawk is going to show up later in the weekend so his stuff won't be there to cook with which means...we need pots and pans and a gas grill. If you are local and can bring these things please let me know and if you are bringing food that too. If there are any questions about the roast I can be reached at herbiejuan@hotmail.com
  11. It makes me mad as hell to see how this grew like a cancer and that these men and women would stoop to deliberatly destroying lifes so that fatbellied faggot from oklahoma could tighten his stranglehold on Gods people. I'm sorry it happened to you, rest assured that justice in one form or another will come soon.
  12. Sorry Sudo I was kidding about the camp host thing, the phrase reletively sane shoulda been the tipoff :D--> If I hadda guess I'd say as large as last years or half again as big. I'm bringing at least one of my kids and several local folks expressed interest in coming. The only issue I forsee might be folks coming in unexpectedly late and needing help setting up a tent or rustling up some grub but we sorta handled that last year unsupervised ;)--> so other n letting folks know where the camping spots gonna be ahead of time (JF??) and a cabin/room # in case they get lost, life should be fine
  13. Keith worries me but then so do most of them old potbellied farts I saw Willie at the Tabernacle in Atl a few years back fer @ 35$ per and being in an old church lent alot to the atmosphere he came out afterwards and signed autographs by his tour bus, staying till everybody got one. Dylan plays at the midtown music festival every few years as do such notables as REO Speedwagon, Funkadelic, Steve Miller, Journey and Kansas. For @ 50$ for a weekend pass, gas parking and munchies you can have a great time watching the scenery pass by listening to great tunes.
  14. Since this event could be a rather large event I am currently seeking relatively sane people to serve as camp hosts. The duties will include snipe hunting and playing hide and seek with the waygb. Applicants should be versed in what poisen ivy looks like and be able to tell the difference between man or beast at 100 yrds :D-->
  15. Ya know, as cool as it's been lately...it might be a good idea to pack a sweater
  16. I got great seats for Annie Lennox/Sting for $125 similar seats from resellers today are running @ $300+ I've pretty much decided to pay whatever the rate is in order to see some acts like The Stones (who may or may not be around that much longer) so I would say my max would be $250 for kick arse seats in a decent venue. Hell fer a three day event I'd be willing to ante up a grand fer a righteous time :D-->
  17. I have been approached by interested individuals about starting a production company. The primary product will be environmental dv's for distribution to media outlets like pbs. The target audience is 25-55 college educated citified folks. For starters there will be a media intern shooting the film and a professional outfit handling the post edit work. I will be developing the semi scripted outlines and coordinating the various elements of the production :)--> IF IF IF this gets funded So asides from doing a happy dance and writing lots of notes for the proposal I'm wondering, what with all our exway production folks out there, if you might have some ideas or suggestions. I am currently working through cybercollege's production series and observing hgtv and the history channel for the general feel of shooting an educational film BUT if you've done this before and have some tips or advice I'd welcome your input. At this juncture this project will consist of 4 psa's shot on location and voiced over, two 30 minute films using a multimedia approach for civic orgs and gov groups and 4 30 minute educational pilot series targeted to them urbanized college folks.
  18. We could grow shrooms on it, what with all the bullpoopy laying around we'd be millionaires before ya knew it :D-->
  19. Thanks Belle A couple of words about previous Roasts, Pets were fine and frequently entertaining in their own right (especially horsedog) but they do need to be on a leash. Park rules state no alcohol or firearms (in the same sentance no less ) so if you get drunk and shoot something be quiet about it Most meals will be communal but relying on that alone for sustinance isn't a good idea as we did run out of food a time or two (but Cathy's intrepid kitchen wizardry saved the day :)--> ). Remember this is rural Tennessee where they roll the sidewalks up at dark (not to mention dry counties) so finding suitable food fer the munchies at 9 pm (or more vino fer the beano) might be a problem. Nights can get cold (duh, it's october) and rain may pass through during the weekend so if you are travelling from nearby could you throw in a few extra blankets just in case your neighbor needs one? Thanks thats all for now Mikey yer benevolant dictator emeritus
  20. Belle this is open to everybody, last year we had folks that'd been out for along time, some that got out recently (5yrs) and my sources tell me a few innies dropped by but were too shy to say hello. I called yesterday asking about the cabin (I'm still camping but figured I'd snag it afore someone else did...) anyways it was taken but I put my number on a list to be called for the next available cabin. HOWEVER...if you want a cabin and will be near a phone during daylight hours AND have a credit card then you might consider calling and asking to be placed on their reserve list. I'm guessing normal peoples plans change just like ours so there still may be some spaces opening up.
  21. I'm bringing one and possibly two so with myself that makes three :D-->
  22. Greetings oh great and wonderful G'spotters! It is my pleasure to announce the upcoming Weenie Roast to be held on Columbus Day weekend October 9-11 at Falls Creek Falls in lovely Tennessee. Directions and information can be found at: http://www.state.tn.us/environment/parks/p...FallCreekFalls/ This event is a responsible event, meaning you are responsible for yer stuff including lodging. Cathy has graciously agreed to coordinate the food this year so if you want to bring stuff get with her. Last I heard there were no cabins left but plenty of campsites so plan on coming early n staying late!
  23. I'm a big advocate of intervention and recovery programs because so far they show the best recovery results. Part of their success comes from the underlying belief that the addiction is a spiritual disease that can only be resolved by a belief in something more powerful than oneself. This is called letting go and is viewed as a healthy step in recovery. For an addict however, this can be a bitter pill to swallow because by the time he has reached the point of entering a recovery program, usually all faith in God is lost and if not then certainly God is ultimately to blame for the addicts troubles. And then of course there is the holier n thou attitude some church folks seem to exibit to those who make bad choices... So that is partly why AA n all emphasis spirituality rather than a particular set of beliefs and tread somewhat litely at that (altho the Lords Prayer usually the closing prayer). They believe an addict should deveop an individual relationship with the God of their understanding because in essense that is what we are supposed to have anyways, it's not about dogma, not about pomp and circumstance hell its not even about God just blessing those that think like you do, but an inside relationship with a loving God that leads to a peaceful and productive life where there was once chaos and destruction.
