The main difference to me, which is kind of ironic too, is that anyone in TWI, would totally RUN from this group! They would label them ''full of debil spurts, and opening up their mind, and making Jesus God'', so they would have no part of it. They run more from emotions, where as in TWI, NONE!! What makes them similar is the 'Modus Operandi" .....exactly what Jeff pointed out in their methods of recruitment, the figurative gun to their head if they leave, and the narcissistic attitude that permeates the followers. They keep buying up more local property to house the students, they broadcast live on GodTV and folks from all over the world flock there. ((((((shudder)))))

Oh, they all act like I used to~when I was 20 and first got in TWI.....sickly sweet,hugging, helping everyone move...... all the while distancing myself from anyone who wasn't interested or wanted to be involved with it. (like my family!) I have read many desperate mothers searching for answers to why their child WON'T leave this, and/or why these kids were told to NOT TALK to their parents for a year because they don't believe in or they ask too many questions. Sad. Seems the vulnerability with this age range runs deep and these wolves know just how to stalk and attack the coup!

Does anyone remember this lesson? I raised a few kids with illogic. Apparently, Dr. W taught the Corps that it was ''available to NOT dream", so that you ''sleep will be sweet". So, in other words, if you dream, your "sleep is unpeaceful, which means you aren't believing, or have unresolved issues and let the sun go down upon your wrath, or you are allowing devil spirits to control your mind and yada yada yada....". Can't remember which one was more prevelant...or which one I used on my kids more... Hubs and his family taught this to me (they were Corps) and I adopted into our night-time ritual... "thank you Father for NO DREAMS and sweet sleep." Anyone got some answers to the ''why"? or What the point was really? If I am to go to scripture.. well, it doesn't say to pray for no dreams. Quite the opposite happend to many who had dreams (which the Way always said, it wasn't while sleeping, it was just REVELATION)... A few great men of the bible interpreted dreams. Now, on a daily basis, I don't believe that our dreams really mean anything. But, if God was to give you a dream, I am sure you'll know it! any thoughts?

Old SKool you said they "lacked the integrity to leave"... Lets delve a little deeper into that shall we? I personally know @ 6 couples still on staff today.. here are some ''reasons'' they think they can't leave, even if they were tempted to and /or hate it there... *too old ~ most are 50/60's and wouldn't dare try to start over in the real world. No real experiece, lack 401k..... They are scared too death! retirement and empty Way promises are within reach... *too veiled ~ most cannot see past the way colored glasses to see that the research is a joke and many of their beliefs are built on sand. again, scared to death! forget that" all people sin anywhere you go"....the real issue is that it is all a lie. *too arrogant~ they think they can change it even if its stinks. I am thinking white seplecures here.. *too prideful ~ who wants to admit that what they believed for so long could possibly be wrong? I mean what would the neighbors think? * too stupid~ going back out to the real world means actually try to stand up for what you believe in. Most on staff don't have to /nor have they ''witnessed'' in a long time... they are also ignorant in real world issues. What has ''the Way done for Haiti? Helping the poor, widows, orphans......???"They can't answer these. It's sad. But even if they saw ''bad stuff happen'' , disagree with decisions, are unmotivated, uninspired, and broke, most will stay. There is a figurative leash around their necks and it makes it hard to escape. That leash is the "hope" that the next MOG is just waiting around the corner to rescue them from their despair...

Welcome The Heckler. In all sincerity, please read the articles on this site, it will help you understand some of the errors the Way teachings promote. The first being your reference verse to ''private interpretation''. 2 Peter 1- 21. Please read the WHOLE chapter. What is being taught has NOTHING to do with the ''subject'' of this chapter....go on....try for yourself. Do you see it? ME, MYSELF, and I are never mentioned here in verse 21. It is all about HOW WE GOT THE SCRIPTURES, and who wrote it!! They are clarifying the apostles authroity and authorship of the writings. That THEY (the apostles) are not giving THEIR OWN OPINION, that they are just writing what the HOLY SPIRIT tells them. MY INTERPRETATION or my view is NOT an issue or relevant to this passage AT ALL!! And yet, they teach it in the ''How to Word Interprets Itself'' part of the class.....where it was written before, in the verse, in the context.......and that we aren't suppossed to think of ''one's own''interpretation when reading. Really? Then who's interpretation are we listening to? It is just another way to indoctrinate your thinking to make your conscience shut off and only hear THEiR interpretation (without you realizing it ). They disregarded their own research passages to ''privately interpret'' this verse. This was the first peice of the ''leaving THE WAY puzzle'' for my departure. I was in, longer than you have been out of diapers. There are many more. The Way teachings are very self-centered. It's all about ME mentality...you've already proved it in your posts....I can do all things, I , I , I.....! His Word, this life....it's all about HIM. Who HE is, and not me. If you really want God in your life, and I believe you do. then, TRY these teachings. TEST them, and reaseach OTHER true biblical leaders of our day (or past). You will find that Way teachings will lead you down a path of selfish bible worship and egotism. imo. peace.

hahah . you all are so funny. I keep a file box of mostly stuff from here, articles and such.... and I have to get them out and re-read some of them just to remember the deeper reasons for leaving. It wasn't just because ''I am mad at Craig!!!!!!!!" It is especially helpful when talking to a current Wayfer, so that I can get to the real point, instead of trying to gather my emotions from the past back to the front of my mind. *I am having issues with my posts, I can't get my green, or font or sizes to work......someone help! Halleluia! It's been 4 years since my last confession...... no seriously, I think that is how long since leaving TWI???? Hence my problem...~ I have to refresh my memory sometimes of the ''doctrines'' that so deceived me, just to say ''Oh ya....that is why I left." Seems the sting of grief has left me. Time has taken the disgust and disappointment away to a degree. So, in order for me to appreciate what I have become, and what I am doing now, I need to occasionally remind myself of what I used to be and what THE WAY did to me and others. I am not who I was. Anyone feelin me?

So sorry you have to go through this. If her family is in = bad news. If she doesn't fall in love or is in love with Jesus= bad news If she isn't digging deep (like coming here) to find out WHY she believes/did believe the Way= bad news If she is more concerned with her Way ''friends'' and the socialization more than an accurate belief in God = bad news. If she would risk losing you to attend or please them = bad news sorry to be so blunt. just sharing with you some warnings to look for. We just got out a few years ago.....my hubby was in since birth.......I had to convince him S L O W L Y at the same time sharing greater truths with him. Now, he would NEVER go back. She should climb every mountain to find out if her beliefs are sound and that starts with Google! and Greasespot!
