  1. Ladder 49
That's the one ... I'm getting the DVD today ...
I thought they were the ones pulling people off the ladder!

    George

    HA ...

I get the feeling you knew the movie right off, but you offer up obscure alternative readings of the hints ...

that makes it more interesting for us cinematographically challenged folks ...

and don't call me surely ...

    (another favorite "Airplane" quote)

  2. They guys on the bottom right make me think of

"The History of The World Part I and II by Mel Brooks"

But I don't think thats it.

    Digi

The pictures just relate to words in the title ...

... chatty was part right ...

(I haven't really read the movie pictionary rules lol)

This movie is just a few years old.

btw VP and LCM are two of the guys falling off the ladder ;)

  3. "Constantine" ............?

    Digi

Hey Digi ... not "Constantine" I guess those people in the corner are the people on earth that are praying for the ones on the ladder of divine ascent. I read the guy in white was the archbishop. It looks like they put the leaders on the ladder, but not the people praying for them. I s'pose on the way up they get tempted and get pulled off .... but the movie hint is not about all that theology stuff, I just complicated it because it was sorta interesting and made it less obvious.
  4. George Of The Jungle.

    Rick

    Gorge ubda Jung El

    you are correct sir ...

They wind surf on that river in Washington ... it is the something gorge ... I threw in that it was a river to make it clearer ...

A little obscure but I figured the Jung could only be jungle ... :)

I guess I shoulda said ignore the winsurfers .... black board coulda worked I guess ... George is such a heavy cogitater ... I'm just a common tater ...

  5. I. I imagine that that's the latest Atlantic storm on record. Just think -- if it started two days later it would have been a 2006 storm, and probably the EARLIEST on record!

    George

I think I saw there was an "alpha 2" on Dec 30th in 1954 ... this tied the record for latest in the year
  6. ...acquire through your library or online bookstores (i.e., Amazon) -
WOW ... that is overwhelming ... but shouldn't that be e.g.? I always think ... i.e. in ether words ... e.g. for egzample. Those are aramaic words I think. ;) I'm not saying this detracts from your obvious knowledge of the deutero-Pauline "Pastoral Epistles" ... as a non technical guy, I was almost inspired to look into that ... till that little mistake .... oops Now I'm wondering if this is just another guy exploring the arcane with the intent of trying to impress young innocent babes e.g. Jardiebay :nono5: LOL Of course now that you know about eggzample, you won't make that mistake again with the next young woman, but at least jardie will not be taken in ha ha ha ha ha

jardinero ... I thought you were in CA? oh, I guess they have net access there too :) and yes, I know you can take care of yourself, I'm just making bottle of new wine comments ... this bottle is pretty good :drink:

But really, marcion ... hmmm ... so Paul was a hack ... but there are original somethings ? good gawd ... all serious scholars agree Paul was a hack?

    from your site ...

According to Marcion, Jesus Christ unveiled a new God, which was not the same diety of the Hebrew scriptures. Nor was Jesus, according to Marcion, the Messiah prophesied by the prophets of old - the Messiah to Israel, who was to be a warrior, was still yet to come, to fulfil the national expectations and promises of that nation. But Jesus, who entered into this world from another universe, arrived as a universal savior, to purchase (or,"ransom") the human race from the Old Testament God

Is this the qualude forum? The sci fi section? Scientology? Holy Moly ... another universe? ... how many are there anyway? a new god? how many breasts does she have? You could get my support :)

Wolf ... how can that be doctrinal? haha

  7. Regarding renting by mail, I found Blockbuster now sends from local stores, so quicker than last year. Also you get two free rentals from the store per month. I think I can return the movies directly to the store even probably, if I'm in town, so that would cut down on the turn around time by a couple days.

I may have misjudged you George (St. George) about being nerdy ... is that Chem degree in liberal arts? LOL I was a chem major for 2 years... how is chemistry in LAS? I guess it is all that electron probabilty hypothesis stuff ... just a lot of religion ... HA OK, liberal arts and liberal theoretical science? Anyway, always seemed funny to me... LIBERAL Arts, and if we have a little time left ... science. If you are conservative can you still get a degree in liberal arts? It may be difficult unless you hide your conservative beliefs ... but I digress ...

I added a few from the top ten "conservative movies"

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadA...le.asp?ID=20714

appeals mostly to stupid redneck hicks with broken down cars in their yards ... ;)

    "walk this way"

  8. If you like comedies,

leaving out the Marx Brothers is just plain wrong.

Their greatest film was "A Night at the Opera". Period.(

OK, "A Night at theOpera" is in too ... Thanks ...

    Please...don't...see...Traxx... :)

Do see Shattered Glass, though. Not that interesting unless you realize it's a true story.

OK thanks Raf ... I'll put off Traxx ... never heard of it, and George prolly does have a strange sense of humor, being from the north side of the U of I traxx. :) (where those nerdy science guys hang out) Hal from "2001" was George's neighbor.

  9. A few favorites of mine, in no particular order:
"Dr. Strangelove", I put it on list

"Bodyheat" - ...saw it long time back, good, will put it at end of list

"Reds" -... kinda heavy, will put it on list though

"Sandakan Hachibanshokan Bohkyo " they didn't have this one

    Thanks George

For classic Marilyn, "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," "Bus Stop," and "The Seven Year Itch" are well known. I remember seeing "Let's Make Love" many years ago and thought it was excellent.

    ...

I tend to like oddball comedies. Not exactly classics (both are from the 80's), "Amazon Women on the Moon" and "Traxx" are hysterical.

    George

OK, thanks George, I'll put a couple Marilyn on, and add Amazon Women (pretty sure I saw that once), and Traxx
  10. I restarted my Blockbuster video plan ... $1 for the first month, then $17.99 for the second ... about 50 cents a movie, mailed to me .... but I soon run out of current stuff ...

What do I need to see to become edumacated on old films? Some Like it Hot? OK, I guess Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, come to mind. Of course I want to see Rita, Betty, and Marilyn. How to Marry a Millionaire was good.

Lay it on me, you film buffs ... like George ... :)

  11. just thinking about the term doctrinal / practical error is enough to make me depressed for the rest of my life

quit thinking so much excie :)

....Are you saying that Dr. Wierwille taught the Corps that it was wrong for a man to touch a woman other than his wife?...

well let's see, I was in the office at Gunnison, we had bless patrol so it was like 2am ... sheley Iforgetherlastname (barederrier?) came in after a late visit with VP .. she glowingly discussed the sex subject .. I forget the details .. but it seemed she thought it was OK and had just received some sort of special input from the man of God ...

or something like that ... I think some of us just weren't spiritually advanced enough to handle that sort of carnal knowledge. :o (YOU can't HANDLE the truth ... Jack Nicholson lol)

    Time to take a break

    bottle.jpg

the problem with drinking drambuie is it makes you speak in high german ... no one can understand you till the buzz wears off :drink:

  12. I've only had two glasses of wine and ten hot wings ...

I've been looking for it again, but all I can find is articles how the earth's thawing in some areas which is good for one species of penguins but worse for others. (Global Warming) this article also mentions that it's freezing more in some areas, but warmer in others.... ..

MMMmmm , hot wings ... I'll have to get some of those ...

Nice points there Belle ... some penguins are actually increasing in number ... cool! Seems to me these cooling/warming cycles have no doubt led to many species coming and going, sorta the natural process. (Would we really be happy if dinosaurs were tromping around our neighborhoods?) :o

My sister did some post grad work in chemistry and is working on some informational paper about global warming. She admitted that it is so complex that it is beyond her to really understand just what is supposedly happening with all the CO2 to cause warming, yet she bascially accepts it on faith. LOL For those that get paid the final analysis is always the same ... we need more funding to study this serious problem. Party on dudes... :spy:

Hiya Bill! Haven't seen you in a while.

What really ticks me off about this whole global warming (or cooling) crap is ---

where is the data from the beginning of time --- eh???

    ....

    David

    Howdy David :)

They supposedly study ice cores and stuff ... but some article made your point, saying back that far is really difficult to be accurate, which may be one reason some cooling/heating cycles look so rhythmic ... they just fit the data into their conjectured timelines.

    In regards to Rhino's post;

Unfortunately, many do gooders have been hoodwinked by those who want to blame America for a natural warming trend, and chop up our economy in the name of saving the goddess Gaia also known as Mother Earth. It's just more religion and money. Earth worship disguising the lust for money and power. Nothing changes under this old sun...

I think most people feel good about doing the right thing for the environment, but are hoodwinked as you say. It is hard to keep up with all the misinformation, but the internet is opening a lot of doors to get the facts. I wish they would just let Mother Earth" do her thing and warm the place up a little if she wants. ;)

  13. Global warming is a crock of ****.

30 years ago, it was *global cooling* that was promoted.

I guess the blue color over the world didn't look as *alarming* as the red from global warming.

Personally -- I think both sides are alarmists that don't deserve the time of day.

True David ... but they get the time of day, plus millions in tax dollars for research .. that is what it is all about.

Far as I can tell, there is of course global warming, in a natural trend that will eventually become serious cooling. A little warming is much better than the cooling part. But we would have a thousand years or more to think about it. The Kyoto traty is pure politics, not science. It is funny that people claim to feel global warming when the change is like 1.5 degrees over the last 100 years, and only half a degree in the last 50. Like yeah, it seems a half a degree warmer today than it did on average on this date 50 years ago. LOL

Even the whacko kyoto treaty enthusiasts admit the treaty would make a minimal difference, but it would help cripple the US economy. As I understand it, India and China were exempt. What a world, what a world ... I'm melting ... I'm melting .... LOL name that movie!

Polar ice caps aren't close to melting ... if it got warm enough, warmer ocean temps would mean more evaporation and more precipitation ... yielding more snow up north where the snow never melts ... I guess that means bigger glaciers. Rising ocean temps could actually mean a decrease in ocean levels ... as some say has happened before.

What I really mean to say is WHERE IS MY MILLION DOLLAR GRANT. Give me some money and I will throw good parties for my global warming compadres and we can all keep debating on the taxpayer dime. OK, $100K will suffice, but then it is BYOB.

What I know is the last month has been 10 degrees below average, so it must be global cooling. Or maybe since I haven't been chatting, there is a shortage of hot air around here. ;)

This has been a 3 glasses of wine response ... end of my last year wine ...

    :drink:

  14. Paw,

I was wondering if I could have my "Heeeere's Johnny !!!" under my avatar again.

Let's hope the child care class people don't see that.

 They may think their instructor is Psycho ...

    LOL

Oh wait, that's another movie ...
