Oh, if only...! They do like to stick their heads and paws down the toilet. And to watch me (fascinating). So far the flushing noise is too scary...

    Cat whispering

Hello, Michael, welcome to Cat Whispering. Nice if you can write the cat lit off against tax. I've tried various catlit types. Some say compostable. However, these two poo such a lot and I think that takes a while to decompose. So I just put it all in the usual rubbish bag and it gets taken away. Tuxy is getting FAT. Now that they are on Go-Cat real stuff not supermarket generic - she never stops eating. She was a lean and bony critter before. She got to be looking a little plump so I managed to catch her to fondle tonight and boy has she got a taut belly. She simply cannot cram any more in there. Crypto meanwhile is hardly eating. She was the runt of the litter and is quite small and dainty. She tends to pick at her food. I like to leave it down so that she has the opportunity to eat as much as she needs. She also is looking rather plumper (no possibility of having a feel) but from today they are going on a diet. Food down for say half an hour while I also eat and wash up. Then I will remove their food till next meal time. Interestingly, Crypto is using her newly-found voice to miaow at me - for food. I got the message yesterday and put food down - Crypto walked off without even looking, and Tuxedo pigged in. Was she asking on Tuxy's behalf, or did Crypto just want a little attention? They have a new bed, very nice and soft. I dribbled a little liquid catnip on it. Heh, heh, it was fun watching them rolling around. A catlit box? Like this? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WofFb_eOxxA
  4. Advice? No Interference? YES!!! *** Women are not doormats.
  5. Boy, I'm glad I can't remember much about this class. I do remember one class where there was some dissection of Song of Solomon and the alleged sexual allusions in that - was that CFS? Or maybe New Life (a Corps class)? That's really all I think I remember and sincerely don't want to drag anything else back into mind. Too right, P-Mosh. I've always wondered why Americans are so prissy about a breast or a bare bottom. It doesn't have to be provocative. And bear (bare?) in mind that most movies are Hollywood so shot with US money and manage to have body parts on display. Yet the whole hippy "free love" thing emanated from the US - in other words, the display of body parts didn't have anything to do with loosening sexual boundaries in the US. The violence and wanton destruction in some US movies is horrendous. Gratuitous. And I think that watching too much violence without also showing repercussions does break down mental boundaries. But that's another thread should anyone care to go there.
  6. I like you, Copes, you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. Treat your wife with loving respect and your marriage will stay intact. Never let ANYONE interfere with your marriage. The marriage is between you and your wife - not you, your wife and your twig leader. Any man who doesn't take his wife's advice, concerns and counsel into account ignores his most valuable supporter. Such a man doesn't deserve a wife.
  7. Wow, Eyes, that's some amazing story! I never heard anything about this before. I have done a lot of hiking and camping in the mountains, and enjoy doing so when it's sub-zero. It can be good fun. But it's not an ideal first trip for city dwellers. I have also instructed on bushcraft courses and mountain safety courses. Any trip leader, in conjunction with the group, has to be prepared to change plans to accommodate the weakest or any injured person or if weather circumstances so dictate. It can be okay going out in the teeth of a gale knowing that good weather will follow; but everyone needs to be prepared. A lot of WC training is putting people in situations outside their comfort zones, one way or another, but this is way beyond that. I've read that Jesus gave his life for us, but I didn't realize that meant that he wanted a few toes back in return. My own LEAD trip was cancelled due to heavy snow. LEAD was offered (?) to the elder Corps when I was in (early 90s) and they had sent the younger Corps out to check out the location. Apparently the younger Corps had to struggle up a hillside and it was often waist deep in snow. So they canceled it for us. No opportunity to re-schedule. It should have taken place in March - but after that everyone was into RoA set-up, or Family Camps at Gunny. I was really disappointed; of all that I believed the Corps offered and the incredible restrictions at HQ, I was looking forward to spending time outdoors. Still, it sounds as though they might have learned a lesson or two.
  8. Groucho, that sounds like the earliest someone has mentioned, and what WG says seems to back it up. He was silly enough to write that in a Waymag? It's a certainty that if LCM said it and VPW was still around, VPW must have endorsed it othewise he would have squelched LCM. Quick, folks, buy your spit protection NOW! Of course, "tithing" was very surreptitiously required of us from PFAL with the handing out of the Christians Should be Prosperous booklet, not actually "taught" as such. The gist of that booklet was that not tithing was robbing God and who'd want to do that? But just disapproval, no threat, if one didn't tithe. Did VPW threaten, or did he just leave that to LCM? Does anyone admit to having the Waymag WG mentioned?
  9. Michael, stick around, you will find much to help you here. We have mostly all been through it; some here have people they care about involved with TWI but they themselves are not. Enjoy life and keep learning. I'm sending you a PM so's not to derail this thread.
  10. "Small minds talk about people; average minds talk about events; great minds talk about The Word." Which was cover for "great" minds discussing the supposed spiritual imperfections of numerous people who had been kicked out.
  11. Hey Mods, has anyone ever thought about a "smiley" that shows a train wreck, or at least a train derailment? Like the "Off topic" button but more explicit?
  12. They were?  Leafy - weren't we taught that the spittle of a holy man was something special (hence Jesus spitting on the eyes of a blind man)? Though I don't think LCM had this in mind.
  13. An exam!! Where you had to list your sexual preferences??!! :o That's just voyeurism. Nosy b-----. The correct expression may be, "F**k off!" Thankfully this wonderful class (LOL) made no significant impression on me. Reading some of the posts reminds me of a few things, but nothing I care to pursue any further. I don't recall anything much about "family" but there was plenty about sexual relations between spouses and there were the slang references and I remember thinking, is this really necessary? I know some people who had had very restrictive RC upbringings and they found it liberating from that set of doctrines. But that would have been a once-through and they weren't deeply immured in TWI for it to go to its full harmful depth. BTW on voyeurism, not that this particularly relates to this class, I'll remind you that when I entered the WC as part of the prep list, women had to obtain a clear Pap (smear) test. At the time I thought it was over-zealous caring for people's health. Now, I think it may have been for a different reason. Especially if linked with the "sexual preferences" questionnaire mentioned earlier in this thread.
  14. Hi Michael, haven't met you before, but welcome to the Cafe. Very glad to hear that you've very much learned that you aren't a grease spot by midnight and there is a thriving life after TWI. Many of us here could agree with your statement: "I don't feel my life really started or got moving [again] in a coherent direction until some five or six years after being all but on the fringe(s) of the ministry" - with the added word, for some of us. Your picketing story is so funny. Probably a demo to your LL how copped out you were (LOL).
  15. Huh, so we have trucker expressions filtered through footballers'/jocks' comprehension and turned out as a spiritual statement? And used to terrify believers? Sirguessalot: hadn't heard that later qualifier, must have come along some time after I was already a grease spot (M&A'd). WW: before my time. If he stated this on a 1980 SNT, he probably practiced on the Corps before that. Any offers, anyone?
  16. Funny, and in view of "pneuma" sometimes being trans-a-lated "wind" (not just "spirit")... ah, you work it out. Maybe that glass of red wine that I just drank is having an effect...! Anyway, anyone know the origin of this expression, in TWI terms?
  17. Huh, this expression has a longer life than I expected. Shoulda known it wasn't original. Didn't know about Trucker-speak. What a terrifying expression to put into someone's mind as they were driving away in disgrace from TWI! Roadkill, this didn't "translate" for me. Linda and Leafy, you're both talking about days when VPW was alive and huffing. Was it his expression?
  18. ModRocker, it's deviated just a little from the snowstorm...! Mike, I respect your views, but I've been there and out through the other side. We will not agree but I appreciate your views are strongly held (as are mine). There is no point in my continuing on this thread, said all I have to say, no-one's changing their mind, so it's over and out. I wish you peace in your heart: Numbers 6:24-26 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
  19. Agreed. Very graceful. Mods, lock this thread!
  20. Interesting, Shellon, but not quite what I was after. When did - whoever - first start using this expression? Clearly it was around early 90s; was it around late 80s? ("Cop out" and "tricked out" were; but "grease spot"?)
  21. Ditto. There's so much more knowledge and understanding and application out there. Pr 11:14 - Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. Pr 15:22 - Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
  22. Sorry, Mike, I don't feel any respect FROM you. I simply don't have any respect for hypocrisy. There is good precedent for this. I have a recollection that Jesus confronted a few people about it...was it ... false leaders?? I believe the leaders of the church that we are in, are urged to live blameless lives, which surely doesn't mean they never do wrong, but they get their act together pretty quickly and amend their behavior. Isn't there a letter about that somewhere? To Tim...Timmy...(thinking...) Timothy!! And I remember reading about some other guy who'd been a hypocrite who changed his mind and said, Be followers of me. And he laid down specific standards of behavior. Uh... Paul? I believe YOU believe the things you say, and I respect that. I simply don't respect the author of the books you so venerate. If they work for you, go with it. But please - don't forget Jesus. Don't disregard what he teaches. Make yourself rich in love and compassion. Let those be your actions. Let him be your model. PS Not recorded anywhere that Jesus saw a snowstorm. He did see a dove and he did have an amazing time being "transfigured". He didn't ask for these and warned against seeking after signs (like snowstorms).
  23. Okay, we've all heard this. But when and where did it start? LCM used the expression a lot. Usually in conjunction with, "If you walk out of here, you won't have God's hedge of protection around you and you'll be a grease spot by midnight." (which overlooks, of course, that God promises He will never leave us nor forsake us - a pretty fundamental contradiction, it seems!) Who coined this expression, LCM himself? Or VPW, did he say this (maybe, I can't remember)? And who remembers its first context? What was it in relation to, people leaving voluntarily, or being thrown out, or was it something else? When did you first hear it? Did anything else merit God "not spitting" at you? I've heard LCM holler it out on more than a few occasions. That would be early 90s. When? Corps night, perhaps? But it clearly made its way out - SNS?
  24. Okay, we've all heard this. But when and where did it start? LCM used the expression a lot. Usually in conjunction with, "If you don't tithe, God won't even spit in your direction." (As if anyone wanted a God who would spit on them!) Who coined this expression, LCM himself? Or VPW, did he say this (maybe, I can't remember)? And who remembers its first context? Was it in relation to tithing or was it something else? When did you first hear it? Did anything else merit God not spitting at you? I've heard LCM holler it out on more than a few occasions. That would be early 90s. When? Corps night, perhaps? But it clearly made its way out - SNS?
