It's been playing in my head all afternoon ... Certain in the midst of uncertainty ... yeah yeah yeah .... :)-->

How many times did you sit through pfal?
oldiesman replied to GrouchoMarxJr's topic in About The Way
In my opinion, the best way to take PFAL is at a one-week camp surrounded by beautiful sweet-smelling peaceful mother nature with not a care or worry in the world. :)--> -
Steve, I hate Kmart. Aww, don't be sad, be happy. Because God even helps us folks who aren't as spiritually enlightened as yourself. ...

This sounds something like that famous phrase "Eat the fish, and spit out the bones." Only question is, what is fish, and what is bone? I guess that's the individual's decision to work out in their own life. :)-->

Nothing from twi. If anyone thought that, they weren't using their head ...VPW said in his PFAL books that he learned from men of God, scattered across the continent. Obviously, truth exists outside of twi, that's where twi got it from. Thank God twi got it right about salvation too. Had I believed the stuff from my RC background, I couldn't move onto another Christian group without eternal damnation awaiting my soul. :)-->

My thoughts exactly, dmiller. :)-->

Here are some of my long-term benefits at the hands of twi... The bible is the word of God, something that has integrity and trustworthiness Anybody who believes Romans 10:9 is saved, no matter what denomination or group they are with. Christians are saved by God's grace, not works Being born again, which gift is never to be taken away How to manifest holy spirit, principally SIT The Dead are not alive now but dead until Christ's return and the resurrections God is a loving and forgiving God How to talk and reason about God and the bible with folks who may want to know more ... :)-->

How were your eyes of understanding enlightened?
oldiesman replied to Belle's topic in About The Way
The thing is, at this point it doesn't matter whether he was trustworthy or not; what matters is the content of the teachings and whether it makes sense. A lot of PFAL still makes sense to me. Some of it doesn't.I can't arbitrarily throw out what makes sense, just because Wierwille didn't live up to what he should have as a minister. :)--> -
Well, I'm not sure about this, but an old time Way believer once tried to prove to me that he could speak in tongues, and talk, at the same time. He was talking to me, and claiming he was speaking in tongues too, in his mind. Don't know about this, but why should I want to speaking in tongues at the same time I speak English; why not just wait and do one thing wholeheartedly at a time? :)-->

I don't know, Belle. If VPW was so incompetent, why have thousands learned and retained for years a large portion of the teachings? Even today, there's a sizable portion of folks who retain Wierwille's teachings. To me, that's the mark of a good teacher, one to communicates the thoughts and ideas very well. Doesn't mean he's right on everything, but it means the retention and assimilation of the students was at a high level. :)--> -
Krys, I'm not positive about this but I think I heard someplace that there are fasteners that exist for screens, so that they hold in place under pressure. That way, you may be able to open the bottom portion of the windows and let the cats have fun without worrying. I asked our maintenance man to check it out for me but haven't heard back yet. Perhaps you might want to check that out locally at a Home Depot or something ... :)-->

"I am the teacher, you are the student. That will never change...."
oldiesman replied to CoolWaters's topic in About The Way
I never experienced this in twi twigs which were much more loving and informal; but I think this was the mandate in training programs such as corps and wow. Understandably so, you are there to "learn from us" mentality; do it our way, because we know best and "will lead you to do what's best." Problem is, when you're in that situation, you're limited to the excellence and/or ignorance of the folks doing the teaching and leading. That's why I think the Sixth Corps (6) (SICK) had so many problems cause there were so few real leaders who knew what they were doing; novices really. I don't think it's a bad attitude to want to soak up and learn from someone who's more advanced than yourself; you just have to make darn sure they are better than you. :)--> -

Steve, has it really been confirmed? I haven't heard that one yet. Only opinions and suppositions and jokes about it. -
