As of today, I have never been a big Twilight Zone fan (meaning there's always hope for the future), but I love the quote.

This was rare for Twilight Zone episodes... pure thoughtfulness, affection and empathy for the feelings of one's spouse.     I hope you watch it someday.   One other treat of the episode that hopefully won't spoil it for you:    they lived in a time when the govt abolished credit cards... everything had to be paid in cash!!   :biglaugh:

“We cultivate love when we allow our most vulnerable and powerful selves to be deeply seen and known and when we honor the spiritual connection that grows from that offering with trust, respect, kindness and affection.  Love is not something we give or get, it’s something that we nurture and grow.  It’s a connection that only can be cultivated when it exists within each one of them.  We can only love others as much as we live ourselves.

That's a good one, thx.    Here's one that I find powerful from of all places the Twilight Zone, from the episode "The Trade-Ins".

"From Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet: "Love gives not but itself and takes not from itself, love possesses not nor would it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love."   Not a lesson, just a reminder, from all the sentimentalists in the Twilight Zone."

  3. I like using both cash and credit cards for purchases.    In fact, I try to use credit cards even more because of the rewards.  But lately I'm seeing more self-service stations with cash seeming like the least popular or convenient way to pay.     Cash is more of a hassle to use at a gas station.    And at a local Aldi, they replaced most everything with self-service lines now.    I may still use credit cards but want to retain the cash option.   Your thoughts?   All comments welcome.

  4. I'm hesitant to accuse someone of worshipping a book and especially the Bible.   As old Craig used to say "it depends on the mindset of the person making the decision" and unless God tells you what's inside someone's heart and mindset, how can someone know for sure?    Then there's the declared truth that "God is the Word" and that includes the written Word (given by the Holy Spirit).    Written words represent thoughts, so one may surmise that the written Word HELPS one worship the true God rather than hinder; and is a direct aid to worshipping God.   We all know the verses, including the one from David "thou has magnified thy Word above all thy name."

The Word of God is full of crazy commandments that make absolutely no sense at all. Why would someone want to worship such a sadistic god? I cannot overlook a god who would treat his children this way.  If my earthly father carried out these acts, he would be in prison and possible executed, and well deserved.

"For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken. No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God." (Leviticus 21:18-21)

"When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her." (Deuteronomy 25:11-12)

"If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, 28 then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over. 29 You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters."(Leviticus 26:27-30)

"A bitched shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord." (Deuteronomy 23:2)

"For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9)

"He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord."(Deuteronomy 23:1)

This is where I think TWI gave out some pretty good advice... i.e. if something in scripture makes no sense, 'hold it in abeyance' -- pray about it and ask God to give you the answer.

God's Word is as much God as God is God.

Where are you going to find God's written Word, outside the collaterals, where if is understandable?

An early comprehensive Roman Catholic missal?     When I say that to protestant believers they may laugh and not believe it but the Word is written there.    But don't believe me, go ahead and please buy one and read it for yourself.      It's not good to believe everything bad you hear about the RC church... don't get gypt.

Go ahead. Get into the details.

How are the kids getting brainwashed?

(Asking for a dad whose son will be in public school in thirteen months.)

Would love to but the details are political and I think the back and forth would then violate GSC rules.   But you can google it if you like.   Ask for "trouble with social and emotional learning" and so forth.

  8. Thank you WordWolf, here are a few more quotes:

BRONSON:  "Now what the hell is that"

    LOUISE:   "It's a sidesaddle"

BRONSON:   "A sidesaddle?  You mean to tell me you're gonna put that on the side of a horse?"

JAMIE:   "Are you going to bust him?"

BRONSON:   "Do you know what it means bustin' a horse?

JAMIE:   "Showin' it you can't be thrown?"

BRONSON:   "No, that ain't all of it.  Bustin' a horse means just exactly that: you bust him.  And that takes all the spunk out of a horse... it breaks him. And I'm not gonna bust a Valdez horse.
