    Memphis

Sudo, I will for sure give you a call whenever we get to Memphis. I just don't know when that will be. I mentioned to J about going there for our anniversary (we were gonna take a cruise, but those plans have been postponed a few months) and he said he'd rather go to New Orleans. So, we'll see what we actually end up doing. Thanks for the invite, though, I'd love to catch up with you and Carol.

Ohmygosh, Sudo... How fun to see pics of your wedding! Carol is absolutely stunning. And you (and yes you too Al) are as devilishly handsome as ever. We will certainly call when we get to Memphis, although I'm not sure when that will be. I had forgotten that ya'll had moved from Midtown to Germantown which is near my aunt's house (Aunt Vivian, remember her and Dick?) where we usually stay when visiting. Al, thanks for the fond memories of never having to wait for a table at Rendezvous. I had kinda forgotten about that. Dad tells lots of stories about the place, and things that happened there over the years. It's really fun to reminisce. My family all have great memories of being involved with the way in Memphis, thanks to wonderful folks like you guys. Thanks again for the nostalgia, T
  3. Thanks Paw, for the explanation. I couldn't for the life of me figure out which part of my post could've "released the trigger."
  4. Tom I live in the Houston area, where the humidity stays at around 100% during the summer. And the temperature is just as high. Paw, thanks for listening to our concerns. You are much appreciated!
  5. Well, I just screwed myself up again. I checked in the doctrinal forum, my post was there. I edited out some redundant phrases, hit the edit button, and POOF the whole message disappeared again. OOPS. Help!
  6. Earlier today, I posted a reply to a thread on the docrtinal forum, and a message came up that said something about "trigger words" and my post would be reviewed by an administrator or something. I don't remember exactly what the message said. Paw? My post seemed harmless enough. I don't understand what happened. And I didn't save a copy of what I wrote. Just wondering how that whole thing works....
  7. hahaha Adios I don't own any pearls, and I've retired from baking cookies since my kids have taken over that domestic duty. I much prefer shorts and flip flops, pretty much required dress in the killer heat round here. But I do LOVE Grace Kelly, especially in Hitchcock films.
  8. Is it possible to send a private message here like at the old place? I'd rather not publish my email for all to see, but would still like to be able to send and receive private messages. Is this possible?
  9. My favorite sister ex, Hope your day is as special as you!!

    Memphis

Geeze, you guys are making me homesick. Although I grew up in Memphis, I spent my college daze at UT Knoxville. I've always wanted to go back sometime and visit the campus again, just never had the chance to be in that part of the country once more. The closest I've gotten is Nashville, where I have some family. Sudo, I too, grew up on Tops barbeque. Mr. Lawson was one of Dad's accounts, and he was often in his store over on Quince? or was it Rhodes? It was very sad when he passed away. Funny thing, but I knew Linda for years before we ever figured out that our families knew each other. We have a family connection through marriage. I did hear recently that she had married Art Poling when I posted something in the friend finder. I hope she is doing well. Funny, but last week-end we were all at my brother's house and we had this big discussion about cumin in the beans, and the best recipe for mustard slaw. Too funny! We Memphians do take our barbeque seriously. After all, it is THE MAJOR FOOD GROUP. I'm thinking about maybe driving to Memphis this summer to visit my aunt, and to dance to the house band at BB King's. Hubby and I LOVE going there for the music, and of course to hear Miss Ruby sing. I think the perfect night out in Memphis is dinner at the Rendezvous, dancing at BB's, then coffee and cheesecake at the bistro in the Peabody. It's all the better if you can get a suite at the Peabody. Maybe I should plan this for our 20th anniversary in July? We spent our honeymoom at the Peabody. Hope you guys work it out to get together. What fun!

    Memphis

Adios I grew up in Memphis, but left when I went away to college and haven't lived there since. But it was a great place to grow up. We lived out East, and Memphis has changed so much in the past couple of decades since I lived there, especially out East, I can hardly navigate there anymore. Sudo, I can't believe it's been about 4 years since we've visited. Now that Mom and Dad don't live there anymore, we just never get there. I miss it though. My brother Mike still travels there once a month or so on business, and he keeps me supplied with Corky's barbeque sauce, and Rendezvous dry rub. Who do you think has the best barbeque?? I think Corky's for pork shoulder, and Redezvous for ribs, although Mom says Gridley's ribs are better. Most of my high school friends who are still there live in Cordova, although I've always loved Midtown (my high school stompin grounds) and thought I'd like to live there instead of suburbia if we ever moved back. The other day, my neighbor and I ran into someone at the neighborhood coffee shop, who has moved here from Memphis, and he said the base at Millington is closed now. Hard to believe. Ah, memories.........
