In 1986, my pal and I, who had a 3-Twig area, decided it was insane to send the ABS to HQ, when our local fellowships had single moms and others who were chasing disconnect notices and med/grocery bills. We decided where to stand on the issue, got some guff from the BC's, but support from Jo& Guar!n! (LC). The area was growing until the Tape with CG blaming the WC for all of the ministry's problems. We left the area shortly thereafter, but there was still an unaffiliated fellowship.

A sad time...

Don't mean to derail the thread, but FYI, Dan Fogelberg passed away a few days ago. I appreciated dmiller's posting of one of his songs a while back, "The Leader of the Band", and figured d and I were not the only ones interested enough in the strings to know and appreciate his contributions to the music world. Thus closes the door to another chapter in my life that brought me joy and deep grounding in "things of the heart". "The leader of the band is tired, and his eyes are growing old. But his blood runs through my instrument and his song is in my soul~ My life has been a poor attempt to immitate the man. I'm just a living legacy to the Leader of the Band." I loved this song for its validation of family ties, even through the twi years. I equated the "Leader of the Band" as God, and later, when I started to get to know him, Jesus. (Not that I thought God was tired, except, maybe of our "stuff"). Music is a very powerful thing. It can reach into the depths of even a very hard heart and bring forth tears. Cinderpelt is from a fictional series I'm reading with my kids, about feral cats and the structure of their society. Cinderpelt is a deeply reflective, kind, and honorable "medicine cat" for "Thunderclan". Thus, From: Thunderclan Territory. It's a good series for young teens. I have been asked about the Logo in the signature area. "Fireglass" is the title of a novel my daughter is writing and hopes to have published. It's the 1st in a trilogy, and she's written 21 Chapters, thus far. ~Cinder

I stand corrected~ "kits" would be the proper term for squirrels. And I doubt you ever even gently threw them at the wall. General rule of thumb: After cooking for 18 years, there done-RARE. I'll take the roastin' ears any day over the possum stew. Thanks for the biology lesson. They still look pretty darn similar! I met one (possum-probably a 6-pounder) while taking out the trash one night. Wished I'd had my Bersa at my hip. He gave me a nasty greeting!

(My take in that last phrase, regarding dignity, would exclude tyranny/dictatorship). It's easy to bully, but a greater challenge to lay down your "self" for someone else.
