I'm new here, although have read posts for many years, off and on. The brainwashing post has sparked a reply. Why throw away all we've learned? I have tried to decipher what was wrong and what was good in TWI. It has taken years to fully understand the impact on my mind of what the TWI has done to me, but I am thankful for the word (some) I learned. Yes, VP was wrong in that he claimed all was his "revelation" or through his own research, but when it really comes down to it, who cares? If you look at all the "supposed men of God" on TV, and others, have you been able to find one that is not lying about their so called revelations, right teachings? NO and I have looked at many of them. I do not believe that anyone has the key to GOD. I was very involved in TWI and saw many things, some I was too naive to know what was really going on, but some would make your skin crawl! Why throw the baby out with the dirty bathwater? Does this mean I'm still brainwashed??? Just looking for a few more answers! :)

My two cents: BEING TOTALLY HONEST HERE! The customized version of the Brainwashing Quiz: 1. When the Bible is being discussed among your (non-TWI) friends, do you continue to believe that you know more than anyone else about the subject? NO 2. Do you still think that people who believe in the Trinity are "idolatrous" and therefore have forfeited their chances for eternal life? How about their "crowns in heaven"? NO, but I still believe that JC is not GOD! What's wrong with that? 3. Do you hang on to the idea that all negative things come from the devil? I believe in free will and in poor judgement, BAD DECISIONS, but yes, I do believe many bad things come from the devil! 4. Do you avoid wearing a cross around your neck or having one as a wall decoration in your home? NO 5. Is your first reaction to a difficult situation to speak in tongues - silently, in your mind - rather than to immediately pursue a solution to the problem? no 6. Do you think environmentalists are nature-worshippers? no 7. Do you use a wooden spoon as a "rod of correction" on your child? no 8. When you experience failure, do you begin to re-trace your recent past in order to identify where you "blew it" spiritually? no, but I have found that things go much better when I look to GOD! 9. When considering whether an idea or event is valid, is the Bible your ultimate reference point for truth? NO 10. If you encounter a mentally ill person, does you "diagnosis" of that person include the name of a devil spirit? I don't include the name of a devil spirit, but I do believe we are all still under attack by the devil............whats that verse, the lion seeketh who he may devour? 11. When you pray, does each sentence of the prayer begin with ... "Thank you father"? yes and no 12. Do you believe that when a Christian husband and wife disagree, the wife should submit? H___ no 13. When someone is very very very successful at what they do, do you consider that this might be because of an affiliation with the Adversary? It depends on that person and their behavior.......... 14. Do you find yourself rejecting any perspectives from other religions? NO 15. Do you believe that babies are not alive until they take their first breath? This is a difficult one.......still thinking........... 16. Does it still matter to you how many were crucified with Christ? Probably not. 17. Is your life patterned more after the Epistles than the Gospels? Could get into some bible here, I will leave that for a new post............ Add up your "yes"s and "no"s. If you have more "yes" answers than "no" answers, you are still brainwashed, and TWI still has a grip on you.

I'm looking for Peggy Wilson (? married name), she was at HQ for quite a while I believe, and in the 6th corps I think, or one of those early ones. I know it was before the 8th corps. She left TWI in mid 80's. Last I knew she was in Portland, Oregon where I believe she got married. Would love to know if anyone has heard from her or know anything! I have been looking for her for years! Roses

Oh my gosh, Veda was my WOW sister in Portland, Oregon in 1980, we both stayed in Portland for years after, she went into the 13th Corps but that's the last I heard from her since I droped out a couple years later. Would love to know if anyone's heard anything from her. Who did she marry? Roses

Last I heard he was in Atlanta, running a small fellowship of sorts. If my memory serves me, I believe he had a website but I'm sorry, I can't remember what it was. :) Roses

Looking for anyone in the Rockford area who got in TWI between 1974-1980. I left in 1980 to go WOW to Portland, Oregon and stayed until 1991. Now in Atlanta area. Left TWI in 1987.

I remember this. He must have told this to many audiences. I can't remember where I was when I heard it, but it was quite a long time ago, I entered TWI in 1974 and got out 1987 or so.
