  1. I just want to know where that one sock goes in the dryer?
  2. Just a few of my favorites.... (This last one is Samuel Adam's Triple Bock)
  3. Here's the link to the article on WorldNetDaily: http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=85543 Check out the poll and comments - tell me if this doesn't ring any bells for you!
  4. George - I really hope you enjoyed that argument with yourself... By the way, the words "there has to be some truth to it" comes from the Advanced Class, for cryin' out loud. It doesn't mean that I agree with it - good grief - I can't imagine having the energy you put into your "rebuttal" of my post.
  5. I'm cracking up as I read this because shopping.com has a little ad at the bottom of the page with all sorts of lovely shawls, scarfs, headscarfs, etc. Maybe LCM just needed something like this: Considering how much he screamed, a bib, er... I mean, mantle.... (or maybe that's "mental") would have been more fitting....
  6. There's got to be "some truth" to what they do or people wouldn't go back. My sister had a very eerie reading the one and only time she went: "You have two women: 'K' and 'B' in your life. One has left and one will be back." She interpreted 'K' as our mother - who's name is Kay. (My mother had my sisters when she was teenager and gave them up for adoption.) My sister hadn't yet connected with our mother at the time of the reading. She met up with her about 6 months or so later... Her adoptive mother's name was Bea - and she interpreted that as the 'B' in the reading. Bea had just died a month or so before the reading. What's the chances of that? You could say that the chances of two family names being in the 26-letters of the alphabet are pretty good but what's the chances that those names are phonetically the same as those letters? (Bea = B, Kay = K) So there's some truth to it; there has to be. Just like with a religion or anything else you're expected to buy into.... Keep in mind we're here now because we once put our belief in something/someone who claimed to have a stranglehold on the Truth.
  7. So are you saying Pawtucket should issue a letter to all GSC followers to ask which leader they are going to follow? I should think not.
  8. I wish I could find it again.... It was by Jim Beam... It was chocolate... It was really, really rich... Is there anything else that matters in life?
  9. I've become 99% self-employed as of this year and business is booming. I've been working as a vidographer and meeting minute recorder for my town's committees and board, including the school boards. I've also been working on web design and some administrative projects. I've been turning work down as of late simply because it's so busy right now. Things will slow down in the summer months but I prefer it that way so I can focus on the kids more. So my job security is pretty good - I'm more confident about it this year than I was a year ago.
  10. Shellon said it best: And should this be at the expense of Paw? He's paid dearly for this forum. It's not his responsibility to offer this place for people to get help - I'm in shock that someone would tell him to "please find a happy medium" - WTF? Gee... next time you're ready to leave a job or make a major life change, why don't you remind yourself of that... it's oh-so-comforting...
  11. Have you ever moderated a forum? I have (and do). It's a lot of work because no matter what you do you can't make everyone happy. It's about the second most thankless job I can think of, next to being a parent. Just because someone could come in and do just what that poster did (even once) is reason enough. She was a VERY PROLIFIC poster - it was a complete mess. Yeah, the forum lived but can you imagine the confusion? Self-police? This group? (hang on... i'm laughing to hard to finish this post....) Okay... by hitting the EDIT button I can come back and finish this today... phew. I'm sorry... what was the problem again?
  12. As some of you go sniping about the editing issue, something that's been a thorn in my side too, may I remind you of a poster we had here once who decided to delete every single stinkin' post she had made over a year or so? It made for some half-baked threads because suddenly there were several blank posts from her and many conversations was unraveled. As we say in Maine, it was a "real pis- sah!" Yeah, I get it that you want to tweak what you wrote. I feel your pain. What about the greater good? I don't like it - but I "get it". And you know what? I've asked the mods to help me edit something and they've been dang helpful. If it's bad enough, just ask... no worries. So about this poll... Shut 'er down and ride off into the sunset with your lady, Paw.... Perhaps some divorced orphan will start a "social" x-twi site but you got better things to do.... Just promise me you'll keep in touch!

Stu Hamm (bass player) playing the theme from "Charlie Brown"
  14. ... from A Concert For George....
  15. (I didn't know McCarthy performed that live either - seeing as The Beatles didn't really tour much, I thought it was a neat find!) Glad you enjoyed it!
  16. I know there's some Firefox fans out there so I wanted to plug the newest version of the browser, version 3.0. If you haven't tried it already, I highly recommend you do! It's super-fast and I decided I liked it better than Safari within about the first ten minutes of use. If you've never tried Firefox, it's way better than anything Microsoft offers and you'll have way less problems with pop-ups, spyware, etc. http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/
  17. Thanks for posting your list. I'm interested in knowing more about the applesauce ornaments you mentioned - can you post more details, please? I'm always looking for crafts and stuff to do with the kids. We did potato stamping today and it was huge hit. I have a gingerbread house kit I got at a fabric store for $3.99 that we might decorate today.... I think it will be fun but doubt the frosting will make it to the house to stick it together, if you know what I mean...
  18. and don't forget the beer and cigarettes! ----- I worked retail for over 10 years and did my Black-Friday duty thankyouverymuch. I don't envy you one bit! BTW - what's the "hot" toy this year?? I now do my Christmas shopping in my PJ's, in front of my iMac with a cup of coffee or glass of wine in hand. Then I go to work the same way by opening another window.... works for me!
  19. Had one - a PT Cruiser. It was silver with silver ghost flames, black leather bra, chrome wheels. It was a Limited edition - all the bells and whistles. (I love loaded cars - I'm a princess!) Anyhow, it was great when it was just the three of us but when the second bundle of joy came along and then a dog, it got a little crowded. Since they only have a 4-cyl engine (and a big one at that), I found my old Intrepid got better MPG's than the PT Cruiser got. I never did any repairs to the thing for the 3 years I had it - just maintenance. I'd take a GT (turbo) convertible version... in vanilla with woody sides.
  20. We are Mopar... 2007 Jeep Liberty - 35K miles 2006 Chrysler Town & Country - 42K miles 1997 Dodge Intrepid - 190K miles (and runnin' strong!) I like the style and power and mileage I get with my Mopars and won't look elsewhere. I've driven Olds, Fords, Chevy, Toyota, GM, Land Rover, and always come back to Mopar.... My worst car was a Land Rover - Freelander, and second worst was a Toyota RAV-4. Both were crapola SUVs that were quickly self-imploding when they were traded. By the way, Daimler-Chrysler is going to all electric cars - that should be interesting... . My dream car....

y'all.... sorry my post above looks sloppy... I tried to edit it and now I can't... I'm not real crazy about this new forum and the lack of editing features.

    Guitar Talk

I have always wanted to try one of those - I bet you don't get half the usual calluses from the strings that you get with the metal wound strings. It must have good tone if your friend who pays upright liked it - my bass weighs a ton but I love the tone that thing gets.=====On another guitar-related subject...I've been posting and sampling some neat music and videos lately. One thing that always interests me is when an artist can take a guitar and make it sound like something else.... In this clip, Chet Atkins makes his guitar sound like a bazouki. ...and in this clip, the guitar sounds like a harpsichord.... then upright bass.... ...and in this clip, he gets vibratone sound (belltones) from the guitar... Is it me, or could Atkins always make it sound like five other instruments were playing with him when he just had one guitar!I've heard other artists do this but it's easy to find Chet Atkins clips where he's done it... And oh, what the he!!.... here's a theremin jam... I came across that sounds damn good... (there's two of them... ) and there's a guitar in the mix... it sounds like a bass... but this is just c.o.o.l.
  23. Chet Atkins - "Zorba The Greek" (I'm not kidding... this is worth a listen...)
