  1. And to think I was drinking out of my Laurel Burch cat cup this morning, too! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAT CUP! May it be a colorful day!
  2. Sounds like more Kool Aid to me. Do you really want to have a microchip implanted on your body, have one government and one currency? Seriously. That's what this is promoting. It promotes the denial of the freedoms that this country was founded on. Although I respect your right to believe that Jesus is or was a hoax, I don't believe what you believe and neither do millions of others who believe in Christ. So... Is this really a good thing?
  3. the smell of a photocopier/carbon (you'd have to have been at the OSC for while to get this one...) first - no, make that third - aid a holy spirit dove notes in a Bible's margins someone asking, "is this a good time?" when they call to chat weekly schedules with an hour-by-hour view big chunky plastic necklace and earring sets (80's style - ala Donna Martindale) Altoids TWI green
  4. Tilda - Thought of you when I heard this on a radio show: (from the MIT newsletter....) This Thursday! A debate for the ages! Two contestants, one vice presidency! Who will earn the honor of succeeding Dick Cheney? In the blue corner Joe “I take the train home” Biden. In the red corner Sarah “I can see Russia from my house” Palin. Blue Team Rules ¶ For every mention of Scranton, Pennsylvania: Take a sip. ¶ When Biden begins the “I take the train home everyday story” being drinking. Don’t stop ’till he finishes. ¶ When Biden questions Palin’s inexperience: Drink something you’ve never had before ¶ When Biden makes an obvious gaffe: Spill your neighbor’s drink ¶ When Biden uses X words when Y will do: Drink X-Y seconds ¶ When Biden patronizes or self identifies with the working class: Down some brew (Bonus points if you use Miller Highlife) ¶ When Biden lambastes Washington Insiders: Make a toast to his 35 years of experience in the United States Senate The Joe Biden checklist. If he mentions all of the following, finish your drinks: Blue Collar, Golden Parachute, Little Guy, Washington Insider, Working Class, Clean Red Team Rules ¶ Every time Palin cites Alaska’s proximity to Russia as “foreign policy experience”: Take a shot of vodka ¶ When Palin claims she said “Thanks but no thanks” to the Bridge to Nowhere: Demand a new drink from your hosts, say “thanks but no thanks,” and then when no one’s looking, take it anyway, then claim you never wanted it. ¶ When Palin recounts putting the governor’s jet on eBay: Auction off a beer to your friends ¶ When Palin insists that governing a small town in Alaska is in fact experience: Give your friend a shot glass of beer when he/she asks for a pint and insist it’s the same thing. ¶ When Palin points out that Biden thought Obama was too inexperienced for the job: Finish your drink and say, “Oh Snap!” If you’re a democrat, follow this by crying. ¶ When Palin claims that Washington’s problems can be solved by small town know how and common sense: Drink a Labatt Blue as you read up on how to become a Canadian citizen. ¶ When Palin talks about being the most popular governor in the country: Go to a room by yourself, realize you’re the most popular person in the room, then finish your drink. The Sarah Palin checklist. If she mentions all of the following, finish your drinks: Bush Doctrine, Snow Machine, Moose, Lipstick, Hockey Mom, Family Values
  5. I think your situation was similar to many other people's situation. If you weren't WC and privy to the POP news and rumors that were flying around, then you had no real basis (facts) for forming an opinion. You knew something was wrong but didn't know who/what to believe any more. For example, I remember hearing a few rumors while I was at my first ROA in 1989, but nothing more than people standing in little groups, whispering to each other or asking where so-and-so was that year to find out they'd left the ministry. From a newbie's perspective (and a teenager, at the time) I didn't think much of it and it didn't phase me. Incidentally, I joined a local church here in my area a few years back and there was somewhat of a leadership upheaval going on with people leaving, whispering rumors, etc. - I got the hell out there as quickly as I could. No thanks - I'm not going thru that again! I think for those of us who weren't "leadership", the tapes were the best information we had to go by at the time and many formed their decision on whether to go or stay based on the teachings and information from the tapes. I also remember LCM mentioning a lot more than CG as leadership with "problems" - I think he called them "cop-outs" - and named a laundry list of people who had left. He painted them with a broad paint brush of being possessed with familiar spirits or other "devilish" things. I don't think the words "marked and avoid" were used for that be we were told not to associate or believe them - does anyone remember that???
  6. Thanks for understanding - I've had people jump down my throat lately for much less.
  7. I remember that well - it was a Glock. I also remember that he brought out a piece before the AC at Rome City once and cocked it.... I grew up around guns and had no problem with being around it but it was just soooooo surreal to see a weapon in a former RC church....
  8. The interesting thing about how the tapes were presented... The Limbs all through the US were very splintered at the time. I happened to be in an area that had weathered the "fog" well because the LC's were pretty solid and really didn't sway or buy-in to some of stuff coming out of HQ. I think they were wise to take a "wait and see" approach with things but other areas weren't as fortunate (if you can call it that.) I don't see how the Trunk of the USA was organized well enough anymore to pull off the objective of making sure that everyone heard the tapes.... Also, I believe that some tapes were for certain "levels" of believers and some were for others. I think someone mentioned that WC were privy to the first set of tapes but that "Joe Believer" was allowed to hear the other set of tapes. The incident I referred to in my first post was when "Joe Believer" was allowed to hear them. Additionally, there was a running of them to the people who had left and another running of the tapes to those who had stayed. Not sure the logic that TWI used in separating those two groups (Did I just use the word "logic" in the same sentence as TWI?) I'm curious, and others may be too, as to what was on those tapes - all of them...
  9. It doesn't come across that way, especially the way the two of you are going back and forth about things. If you wish to pursue the subject of brainwashing please start a new thread or even PM him about it.... If you wish to share what you know about what's on those tapes, which is the subject of this thread, then post on.
  10. Okay - one last post and then I gotta get back to work... ...sending money to HQ... When I moved back to New England and was separated from my 1st husband, the LC at the time (J0hn Chel@r) knew that I didn't have any money and had just started a job. I was starting all over again - I didn't even own a car. He asked if my parents would give me money and I responded that my mom couldn't because she was widowed and could hardly make ends meet. He asked when my dad had died and if he had left me any money. Again, I responded that everything was left to my mother (of course!) Then he pushed the subject a little further: "Then she owes you and you should ask for it." I responded that she owed me nothing and I'd never ask her for a dime. (And I never have!) IF there was any money that had come to me as an inheritance I certainly wouldn't have confessed it to those bloodsuckers!!!
  11. I don't know if y'all will remember this or not but... Back in the mid-90's, LCM threw out a mandate (like that was unusual) stating that we were to win "quality people" to the Word. He wanted people who were "already disciples in their lives" and not people who had a laundry list of needs or were uneducated or whatever. In short: He wanted people with or from MONEY to be won to the ministry. You were in leaderships' good graces if you brought a lawyer or a doctor or someone who appeared to have their .... together to twig but you were in their bad graces if you brought in a family on welfare who were looking for a better life. Go figure. The moral of the story is that they didn't want to be in the position to help people. Not only that, but they wanted people to be in the position to deeply line their coffers. If you have someone who makes $60K per year ABS-ing vs. someone who makes $20K per year, then you get three times the ABS off that first person than the second person - it's easy math. More TWI math: More ABS = More Spiritually Mature
  12. The point of my post is that the firepower in that place is beyond the Security Dept. - anyone getting out of control (possessed) could be taken out in a manner that would best be called brut force. Don't you remember the teachings that devil spirits would know there's a firearm on grounds or on someone's property and therefore they would avoid robbing a home or attacking the person with the weapon because the devil spirit didn't want to loose it's host ???
  13. So, are you saying that churches shouldn't help little old ladies who have been faithful for years with their heating oil bills or give Thanksgiving baskets to the poor? TWI is setting on something well over $50 million... that's nothing compared to some other churches. And you don't think they could maybe help out others from time to time? After all, I thought they were a nonprofit organization...
  14. It's not just Linder and the Security Dept. that has guns at HQ - just about everyone has guns who lives on grounds or in the area. I can't imagine the amount of ammo that's in just Founders' Hall alone. If there was ever a fire in that building... it would probably look like Chinese New Year. When my x and I moved to HQ to be on staff we were in the minority because we did not own a gun. I'm very glad we didn't - he suffered from manic depression/paranoia/schizophrenia and could be bad enough with just two hands - never mind any weapon.
  15. Please don't turn this thread into a pi$$ing contest between the two of you about whether or not TWI used brain washing tactics or if LCM wore boxers or briefs. I'm close to doing to the two of you what my dad did when my brothers would fight: Take your shoes off and take it OUTSIDE. I don't care if it's -10F or that there's 6' of snow on the ground. Please stay on topic - the subject is Leadership Tapes/Galatians Tapes. THANK YOU! :)
  16. Okay, I'll start with the details - Pawtucket has the pictures... Don'tWorry and Paw showed up around 3PM and we gave them the ten cent tour of the house. They met the two boys (more on that later) and the pets. We chatted and chatted and chatted. It was raining like a fatherless child outside so there was no camp fire going or anything like I had hoped for - it was still cozy in the house. There was a possibility that Shazdancer might be joining us but alas, she couldn't make it. I thought it might be a good idea to cook the feast around 6PM, so we started with steamed clams with drawn butter. The clams were probably the best I've had all summer - sweet, meaty - just awesome. Then we had some really good fish chowder as we were waiting for the huge black pot of water to come to a boil. There were crackers and cheese, garlic bread and other nibbles set out. Now, for those of you who don't know this: Pawtucket is doing awesome on his diet. My hat goes off to the man and I'm truly inspired by his progress. However, his diet is a totally liquid diet. We considered pureeing some lobster but somehow it didn't sound as appetizing... Don'tWorry was Paw's designated eater that night. I steamed our lobsters and we ate them in drawn butter and boy, were they good. Lobster is about $5.89/lb in this area right now; so that's not too bad. We had corn on the cob and boiled potato on the side. The kids, who don't care for lobster (they call them monsters!) had chedderworst (a smoked sausage with cheese in the middle). We washed it all down with Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout (and I opted for a rum & Coke.) Dessert was carrot cake cupcakes (say that three times fast.) Everything was tastee! I admit that there wasn't as much food prepared from scratch as I would have liked (Chas is a good cook) because we weren't sure how bad the rain storm might be. Now, as we were yaking up a storm and getting to know each other better, Andreas (my 3 year old) took a real shine to Pawtucket. He sat in Pawtucket's lap or climbed up on the counter next to him. At one point, when it was time for Andreas to go to bed, he ran to Pawtucket to have him tuck him in - he didn't want mommy and daddy! I thought Paw was going to go home with another pet - a little two legged one! Anyhow, it was very sweet! As some of you may know, Hubby has a bad case of GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) when it comes to guitars. By the time the night was over he had pulled them all out to show our guests and we got to jam a little with Don'tWorry. (Chas plays bass guitar but I'm a beginner - Hubby and Don'tWorry were way beyond my level but I was happy to listen). We finally wrapped up the night sometime after 1:00AM. It was a very nice time and our butts were dragging the next morning (I had to work! BLECH!) but it was well worth it. We're looking forward to doing this again next year, maybe around the same time. Hopefully, others can join us - it was really a fun time together.
  17. Interesting that the most prosperous religion - one that VPW looked up to for their faithfulness to the tithe - the Mormons (LDS) - don't interpret things this way.... This "tithe" is just another criteria of the caste system that TWI has created - they're created a "working class" with this.
  18. As campus coordinators? Because I know that the Bolchalks are the WC coordinators there still....

    easy gift

I wish I had your talent! Please post pics of your crafts - I'd love to see it.
  20. Seth - not to contradict you, but that's not entirely true (no disrespect intended, k?) Maybe you weren't aware of this but the tapes were also made available (gag again) to people who had left. You read that right: People who had left TWI during the "fog" to join CG were invited to listen to the tapes. Now, I think it was just the Galatians 2 tapes that they were blessed with (gag again). After the tapes were over, they were asked to choose who they stood with. By the way - this was how I met my first husband. He was one of the ones who had left TWI and yet came to the Limb Home in AL to hear the tapes. He got up to leave after the first ten minutes of the tapes and that's when the LC talked him down. In retrospect, I watched two men make bad decisions that day. (I was limb staff.) I'm just wondering if there's copies of these things out there or transcripts - anyone know?? I remember more than just CG's name being mentioned too - there was a laundry list of "copouts" named, wasn't there?
  21. I'm impressed with the thoroughness and energy this guy put into his blog entry. The boy did his homework well. I also noticed that he linked to this website too - good taste. I'm curious how he got his hands on Jesus Christ Is Not God - does he say?
  22. Had an interesting conversation with a friend the other night about the Leadership Tapes and Galatians tapes. I was fairly "new in the Word" (oh, gag) when I heard the tapes but was wondering if anyone here could outline what was on the tapes. I also wonder if any transcripts or copies were ever made of the tapes? Just curious...
