  1. 25 pages of this thread... a lot has been said... but one wonders what's really going to be DONE.
  2. Lucy... you ain't got nuttin' on me... (copy and paste from another thread because Chas is lazy on a Friday night...) And did I tell you about how I ruined Donna Martindale's birthday one year? Yes, I'm sure she remembers this one.... Well, since it was her birthday, a day more holy than Easter or Christmas, but not as holy as Cinco d Mayo or St. Patrick's Day, a bunch of her biggest fans were all saving up seats near the head table. I was asked if my husband and I would join a group at a table - it happened to be in the area where we usually sat anyhow, so I saved us seats. I didn't get to see hubby before lunch and then got pulled out to usher at the last minute. Next thing I knew, hubby was sitting at a different table and had saved me a seat. ROT-ROW... Now I had 2 empty seats to fill near the head table and there was no one left to seat them. The head of food services (IR@) came up to me in a huff and ripped me in front of a couple of tables about these EMPTY SEATS... I mean... no one was bleeding, right? You'd have thought Christ was never going to come back now because *I* had NOT filled 2 freaking chairs near the head table... IR@ went almost purple yelling at me (and I'm usually pretty soft about these things - I don't hold together well when I get yelled at, but he was so short and so purple it was hard not to laugh...) What was up with that?! Yeah... I bet Donna stays awake every night thinking about that one...
  3. Kristopher just got into his piggy bank today and got his first deck of cards. He studied them in the minvan on the way home - making himself carsick! <_< I've started reading up on how to play the game - he's also offered to get me a deck of cards so I can play with him. (Don't you love it when your kids offer to buy you something with the money you gave to them? Awwww!) Anyhow, I think we're off and running on this one.... oy vey!
  4. I respectfully disagree with many of you here who are suggesting an extra forum or two. I don't want to see another forum on this board - I think we have enough already. I think a "victims corner" or whatever you wish to call it would be treated like "whiners' circle" and let's not go there... I have reservations about a separate Way board or a "Way-lite" board. I like the mix of the heavy with the frivolous (the "guess what really happened in the motor coach" vs. "crazy witnessing stories")... I'd be ready to lay in the road after spending time in the "way heavy" forum - no thanks. I'd rather see maybe an extra moderator(s) or something. (No, I'm not applying for the job.) Perhaps better - more detailed - forum rules are needed. I'm not saying the old rules are bad or wrong but a better code of conduct is needed, in my opinion.
  5. This isn't a shot at you, Shaz, and please please please don't take this personally... But most people who were/are in TWI don't have medical insurance and many would discredit formal counseling anyhow because of TWI teachings. Furthermore, as someone who tried to go this route and was basically ignored by their counselor, I don't see how having the banner will make a difference. There's a banner for supporting the troops or supporting climate change issues - but I'm not clicking on it. Sorry. I don't think a banner will made a lick of difference.
  6. Is there not enough going on in the world, in TWI, or in your own life that you have make yourselves busy labeling everyone and pigeonholing everyone? How about arguing with their first-hand experience? What DO you get from that? (Rhetorical question...) Good grief... why can't y'all lighten up and just follow the forum rules? They're not so hard, you know.
  7. The Ancient Egyptians once worshipped cats as gods, cats have never forgotten this...
  8. Mark the calendar because I agree with Rocky!
  9. HA! I'm kinda there, too... I'm torn between, "what's this about?" and "you've got to be kidding me!"
  10. Thanks for the responses.... Like I said, it's not that I think it's "eeee-vile" or anything but maybe it's bugging me because it's the first time I've felt a communication gap between Kristopher and I. We've always been on the same page with everything before this came along. I often feel like I'm living my second childhood through my kids and love it. But this is something I just don't get... better get on board, I guess.
  11. Kristopher, our 7 year old, is starting to show a lot of interest in Pokemon. I've read a little about it but can't say I understand it. I feel like he's suddenly speaking another language when he starts talking about the characters, etc. I know a lot of Christian groups have been outspoken about this game... He got a little hand held video game for his birthday - he loves it - but it's starting to drive us crazy. I've put a restriction of 1 hour/day on ALL video games/computer games ("Aw, MOM!") because he's soooo into this thing... I'm not saying I want to ban it but what's the problem some groups have with this? What do you know about the game and characters? Is this a phase or something kids will get into for MANY years? Just wondering...
  12. This isn't directed to anyone poster in particular but if the shoe fits... This forum is many things to many different people: venting about former or current experiences with TWI connecting with old friends and even family members sharing life experiences and milestones making new friends in other states or countries asking for help with prayers debating politics or sharing political views talking about sports sharing recipes getting answers to computer questions and so much more... Guess what? This isn't the only forum I frequent. There's one for my local community, Harry Potter fans, Mac computer users, dog rescue, and others that I also visit. I read a lot of opinionated discussion - and that's fine and well - as long as people remember one thing... "Don't be easily offended and don't offend easily". This is true for any forum and any communication via this electronic medium. So think about it... Why are you here? Are you part of the solution or part of the problem? Perhaps the REAL issue isn't WHAT people believe (i.e. anti-VPW or pro-VPW) - maybe it's the delivery of the message. Peace.
  13. I'm not a Wierwille Apologist but I'm not sorry I took PFAL... What does that make me? Quick! Let's line up everyone who had a remotely positive experience from their time in TWI and put them on a train! We must scrub the world (our world, that is) of them. Let's show how narrow-minded and shallow we really are! Let's not forget those who took Momentus and got something positive from that, too. Quick. Hurry. Chop! Chop! No time to waste! Now... we can be rid of them and now that we all agree on the same exact thing... TWI sucked. VPW sucked. It all sucked. Every last bit of it. Sucked. It. Really. Did. Suck. Nothing good came out of what we learned from VPW. He sucked. Anyone got a different opinion? No - you mean to say we got RID of everyone with a different opinion. Wow... what a boring place. It sucks.
  14. Yes, but I don't assume that everyone here really knows who Nora Jones is.... I'd rather have it too easy than to have a clue that hangs the thread for a week.
  15. Both hubby and I have private life insurance policies. As we have two children, a mortgage, car payments, etc. it only makes sense to be covered in case of the worst. His work doesn't offer it and I'm not employed full-time anymore (I'm per diem at a hospital and have my own business on the side.) We have full medical coverage through his work but not life insurance.
  16. Sunrise, sunrise Looks like mornin' in your eyes
  17. Did someone not get enough fireworks on July 4th that they had to go out and make there own HERE? As I read through this thread I feel like I'm hearing the neighbors having an argument - it's something that shouldn't be aired in my house or where others can hear it. Seems to me like it's between Paw and Bump - and really should stay that way. The high drama is getting old and seems to follow certain posters everywhere they go (post). Bumpy likes pushing buttons and having two identities just reeks of trollness. I don't ever appreciate anyone trying to cause confusion - that's just not right - and two identities (handles) for one poster here would cause that. Perhaps that's something that can be mentioned in the rules of conduct for this forum, no? Just a thought. As I recollect, Bump was asked to pick a name and stick with it (ONE name) a couple of weeks ago. Why is this a problem? We all have to follow the same rule or are there special rules for special people? Maybe I'll get a couple more names.... I've been here a while now and think I deserve them. I'd like to register "Chuck U", "Charlie Farley" and "FUBB", while I'm thinking of it. Maybe handles should be handed out to everyone like candy? Wouldn't it be sweet! (Don't go any more grey Paw, I'm kidding, k?) Is this a TWI hate site? I think not. It's not a TWI love fest site but I associate "hate" with hate crimes. I don't see us planning on doing anything to TWI other than sharing information about our experiences and our lives post-TWI. There's a broad spectrum of opinions - just like with anything in life - but a "hate" site.... uh, nope. Anywho, this is the biggest "non-real issue turned into an issue" thread I've seen. Follow the rules... no one gets hurt. Easy enough.
  18. This is a shot in the dark but.... (I Wanna) Rock 'N' Roll All Night by KISS
  19. Welcome to GSC! I can relate with your story - it's similar to mine except I found Waydale before I left TWI but was well "enlightened" on others' experiences that were similar to my own. You're not back at square one but older and wiser than you were before your TWI experience. Use it to your advantage, whether it's that you "don't get fooled again". Peace.
  20. It's not that uncommon... trust me.
  21. Is there a full moon this weekend? Good grief!
  22. I've run into something like that too for prices - over $100/day for a Chevy Cobalt or similar little death trap from rental companies in O'Hare International (Chicago) but found a rental company - ACE - that was a lot cheaper and had a free shuttle service to and from the airport. I checked PriceLine and about three or four other major travel meta deals but no luck... ACE was as good as it got at about $48/day.
