  1. Happy Christmas & New Year from Krista (aka Chas) & Family
  2. Your posts are little disturbing sometimes, you know that? But you're still the breast - rub ya!
  3. I think it's a shame that they're urinating away ABS like this, but since they have a horrible class and aren't out to win people, what else do they have to do? Keeps 'em off the streets and in the court rooms, ya know.
  4. I think it was some religious crap that people didn't leave behind when they joined TWI, and it caught on as a filler phrase or buzz word(s). It irritated the crap out of me - along with people who said "Father" every other word in their prayers. I just wanted to offer those religious Pharisees a big cup of shut the f*** up, ya know...
  5. Mr. Miller - you know you're one of my fav posters here and you make some good points for the start of this thread. The short answer - those who have blinders choose to wear them and don't expect your posts or anyone else's will take those blinders off. Those people are comfortable in their little ostrich worlds. Leave 'em be. They're happy. They also need more edumacating (sic) on the semantics of "personal attack" vs. "point of view". Personally speaking - I don't have major issues with VPW, sorry. I don't think I have blinders on but believe he was a man. I'm aware of his sins but still glad I took PFAL. I sift through what I was taught, cling to that which is good, and don't claim to have the market cornered on the truth. Finally - I certainly believe you and others who have testified about VPW's fallacies, but honestly... I take it all in, usually with a grain of salt and weigh it against what I know. If it's really nutty (remember that thread about the secret society of WC a couple of years back? You'd have thought they were meeting to eat the raw livers of young virgins, according to one poster) then I discard it - but don't call it a "personal attack".
  6. Fear of... ...not having a replacement pair of pantyhose in your pocketbook when you got a run.
  7. My family is Welsh, so we have a fairly traditional dinner: Prime rib roast Yorkshire pudding gravy roasted potatoes clover-leaf rolls and whole-wheat rolls veggies (gr beans, broccoli, or something of the sort) winter squash salad steamed plum pudding with lemon sauce a cabernet, merlot, or other GOOD red wine... In the AM, we do a brunch with hubby's family, who is Greek. It's everything from cinnamon rolls (the baby's fav) to seafood quiche, feta & crackers, fruit salad, baklava, etc. (My family is too Anglo for Hubby's family and Hub's family is too Greek for my family, so the twain never meet.)
  8. I've had enough of the PMs about this. I've never been so sorry for starting a thread in my life. Mods - kindly delete the thread. I'm done here.
  9. Crown Equipment Corporation hangers their corporate jet in New Knockerville, OH. Crown is out of New Beman. They manfactur fork lifts. TWI has had local farmers harvest the hay in the fields for a price and have rented the fiels out to soybean and corn farmers in the past. They have a ton of acreage and they know how to use it. There is also a large lumber company in NK - I would think that TWI would also be harvesting and selling some of the Way Woods, if they haven't already. Anyone know how MANY acres TWI has in New Knockersville???

    WIPE OUT!

Are you serious? Really? What brings you all over the world and makes you travel the way you do? Just curious...

    WIPE OUT!

Although I'm a little perplexed as to *why* you have taken issue with some of the posters on this thread, Bumpy, I will leave that to sort out between you and them. You used a very key word in your last post here - OPINION. You have the OPINION, from what I understand here, that people are negitive and posting about the past too much. You have the OPINION that there's nothing new here. You have the OPINION that this isn't really helping innies - that's it's just the same cult but now in cyberspace, rather than New Knoxville. You know something...? ...I also wonder how many times a poster can tell the same story. <_< I marvel sometimes at the battles that people will choose to pick and wonder "WTF??" I've been around here for a while now and know most posters' backgrounds and major stories pretty well now . I wonder about people who were in TWI for three years but have spent six years complaining and whining about it. I also wonder about those who don't take any credit or responsibility for their bad decisions - but perhaps that's another thread. HOWEVER... I know for a FACT that there are many innies who lurk here on this board - I've been in contact with some of them. Do I think I'm "saving" them? Heck, no. That's their job. You save yourself from TWI by getting yourself OUT of what you got yourself IN to... (Unless you're kicked out - but that's another story.) For someone who's left recently, this board is a way to read other's similar experiences and to relate with them - and to maybe make some connections that were lost via moves, being M&A'd, etc. I know for me, it was a way to see that life really did exist outside the walls of Zion. I also know that there's many who hang out here for social reasons - myself included. I'm pretty much over TWI - but I love the Guitar Thread, Politics Forums, Cooking Forums, etc. - I've seen you on some of those too. I don't always agree with your opinion - but I have always respected it. And I'm rather taken aback by some of your responses - I don't think they were warranted. If the forum is that offensive to you, why do you still come around? You call this a cyberspace cult (my words) - but yet you engage quite well with other on it. I'm left wondering what YOU are trying to prove or gain? What is your point in all of this?? (DISCLAIMER: Since you can't see or hear me, just assume that this post is to be taken at face-value and is not a personal attack on Bumpy.)
  12. I've lived in the Deep South... Dog fighting is also in Down East Maine.... I don't think background, culture, etc. is still any excuse whatsoever. What if it was a white, mid-western region NFL player who did this? Then what's the excuse? I don't think anyone would be making one - he would be an instant villian. Vick is a villian - a cold blooded killer, in my opinion. He KNEW what he was doing. End of story.
  13. Take two nuts in your hand and SQUEEZE them hard. One will crack the other. No tool needed. Now, about those walnuts... (Seriously, the two walnuts in the hand trick was taught to my by this old woman who just knew cool stuff like that - never forgot those things.) Let the nut meats sit in the sun, then take a brush and take the skins off that way. Black walnut is used in some migrain medicine - I used to take the herbal form of it back when I didn't have health care insurance.
  14. Of interest.... and on a more positive note... Animal Attorneys Demand That Virginia Legislature Strengthen Prosecutors' Ability to Combat Dogfighting 08-23-2007 Proposed Amendment to State RICO Act Could Send Dogfighters to Jail for 40 Years Richmond, Va. – The Animal Legal Defense Fund is approaching Virginia legislators to back a proposed law that, if in place, could send dogfighters like Michael Vick to jail for up to 40 years on a first conviction. ALDF has drafted a recommended amendment to Virginia state law that would enable prosecutors to charge dogfighters under the state RICO (“Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act”) statute. RICO—a very powerful tool that prosecutors can use to combat organized criminal operations—is commonly used to address a wide variety of organized criminal efforts, including drug dealing, gambling, and trading in child pornography. Given the power to utilize a state RICO case in a dogfighting operation, prosecutors would have increased muscle in seeking justice for the animals abused, and, as in the Vick case, even executed by their owners. While dogfighting is already illegal in 50 states and by federal law, the ability to bring a RICO case would provide specific advantages to prosecutors overseeing dogfighting investigations, including extended statutes of limitations, longer sentences, and larger fines. Prosecutors also have the power to “seize and freeze” defendant assets prior to conviction in a RICO case. If Michael Vick’s charges had been part of a racketeering case, the authorities could have seized the Surry County house he used for his kennel operations and dogfights—a house he sold for well below market value shortly after the first search warrant was executed. “The vast majority of all dogfighting cases are discovered as a collateral matter to some other type of criminal investigation, be it a drug case, a gambling investigation or simply in response to a 9-1-1 dispatch to a domestic disturbance,” says ALDF Executive Director Stephen Wells. “Adding dogfighting as a RICO predicate would give law enforcement and prosecutors an additional tool, and strong incentive, to start directly targeting organized dogfighting rings—not to mention that it would send a very strong message to the dogfighting community that the stakes just got substantially higher.” In Virginia, a first conviction for racketeering carries a maximum 40 year sentence (on a second conviction, the defendant can get a life sentence); on its own, dogfighting is a “class 6” felony, allowing for only a five year maximum sentence. ALDF is now actively seeking legislative support for the proposed amendment among Virginia lawmakers, and are pushing for a similar amendment in Georgia, home of Vick’s Atlanta Falcons. Such an amendment could eventually be applied in each of the 32 states that have RICO laws and even in the case of the federal RICO Act. Currently, Oregon is the only state that specifically includes dogfighting in its list of RICO predicate acts. Also see what ALDF is doing to combat dogfighting in Georgia. 15. BEEF STEW 1lb of stew beef or ground beef or leftover steak 3 cloves of fresh garlic - chopped 1 small onion - chopped 1 - 2lb bag of frozen mixed veggies (corn, greenbeans, peas, carrots) 2 med taters - cut in bite size pieces 1 lg can of V8 juice 2 tbsp of A1 sauce (or similar steak sauce) 2 tbsp of cooking sherry 2-3 Bay leaves 1 cup of mashed potato flakes Spike Brown the beef (if it's not leftovers) in a skillet with the garlic and onion. Drain grease. Put beef, frozen veggies, V8 juice, seasonings, etc. in a slow cooker. Cook for 4-6 hours on low. About an hour before serving, gradually add and stir in the mashed potato flakes to thicken the stew. Remove bay leaves, if you can find them. Serve with biscuits. ================ TATER SOUP 6-8 taters - cut into bite size pieces (peeled or unpeeled) 1-2 cups of mashed tater flakes 1/2 stick of butter 2-3 cloves of garlic - chopped 1 small onion - chopped 1-2 cups of milk (maybe more, if you like your soup thin...) salt pepper bacon bits cheddar cheese - shredded sour cream diced scallions Boil taters until very soft. Mash with butter and milk. If you like your soups very smooth you can put the cooked potatoes in a blender with milk. Use less milk if you like your soup thick - use more milk if you like your soup thin. (If you make it too thin, you can thicken it with the mashed potato flakes.) Return tater mixture to soup pan. Saute garlic & onion - add to soup. Season with salt and pepper - to taste. I like to make this thick and garnish it like a loaded baked potato - bacon bits, cheese, sour cream, scallions - whatever you like!
  16. Again, just *because* it is part of someone's upbringing doesn't make it RIGHT or EXCUSEABLE. He knew better. He was not uneducated. He did it for sport - and ultimately - for greed. Vick is a monster - I hope they throw the book at him, but seriously doubt it considering the media attention this is getting. I think someone else said it earlier but - WHAT IF slavery was part of your background? Would it be OKAY then to keep slaves? Would that make it acceptable? GIMME A BREAK Gawd, this case sickens me!
  17. Catcup - I wondered the same thing... And your post about your WOW experience was gripping - great story!
  18. Ah, Little Froggy -- I LOVED your response to PL - that was rich! ROTFPIMP.... whee! That was GOOD! =========================== On a side note... I wonder how many of these "face meltings" caused people to wake up and smell the coffee and find the door OUT of TWI. Some leaders tried to call it "righteous anger" or "spiritual anger" - sometimes it was justified. Most of the time it was a temper-tantrum!
  19. I've told hubby that when he retired from teaching and the kids are gone that I want to become a corgi farmer! Tanker has fit in nicely with us. He goes everywhere with us that we can possibly take him along - he even went up Mt. Washington with us a couple of weeks ago. He's almost housebroken now - he's been nearly a week with no accidents in the house (most of the accidents were probably from us just not knowing him that well...) He gets along fine with the cats, who are skittish as heck. Tanker has still been great with the kids - the baby "discovered" him and liked to chase him, which Tanker plays along with (but I try to discourage and re-route baby to a better activity). All in all, it's going well! We couldn't have asked for a better dog!

I had a cat like that - he was the coolest. His name was Emmitt and he was like the twig mascot. People who knew me, knew Emmitt. He was a lot like a dog in that he'd come when I called his name and was very social. He loved all other animals and people - there's wasn't a nicer cat in the world. And if he really liked you, he'd try to give you a bath! He was popular - he even got his own Christmas cards!

  23. Dunno What It's Called But It's GOOD Sandwiches! 1 red pepper 1/2 lb of shaved pastrami 2 slices of provolone cheese 3 tbsp Italian salad dressing 4 pcs of rye, pumpernickle (my fav), or other artisan bread Slice red pepper thin and saute in Italian salad dressing until cooked, remove from pan. Warm meat in pan. Place meat on bread and top with the cooked red pepper and a slice of provolone. Place second slice of bread on top. Wrap in foil. Warm in oven - 325 degrees for 20 min usually does the trick.
