    WIPE OUT!

Bumpy - take a chill pill. No one has yet pee'd in your cornflakes here and you're getting all bent out of shape over nothing. Am I the only person who finds the irony in a thread that was started to point out how nasty GSC has become and then when other posters try to lighten things up a little, the person who started the thread gets nasty? GEEZ BUMPY.... Lighten up already... life is too short, man. Nah... more like a Lemurs... or maybe a Meerkat...?
  2. Thanks, DT! I'll let you know how it goes next time I have to pull out that kind of ammo! (We don't advocate name calling in our family... but sometimes... it just f-i-t-s.)
  3. Eagle, I don't mean this in a disrespectful manner at all, and I understand where you're coming from... but... I wonder if that sort of speculation is really necessary? I think CFF has some great people in it - it's not my cup of tea and yes, I've checked it out. I don't think you have much to worry about. I guess what I'm saying is please be careful when you're writing about someone who has recently passed away and consider the impact it may have on their loved ones. I'm sure you wouldn't want to hurt them. Peace.
  4. My 1st Grader is now into calling people, "Turkey butt!" I called him "turkey butt" the other day... ... he came back with, "COW BUTT!" How does one top that????

    WIPE OUT!

A bad day on Greasespot Cafe still beats a good day in TWI.

    WIPE OUT!

With all due respect... and with no offence intended towards you... but... If you don't like how things are going why not; (a) start threads about POSITIVE things rather than another thread about how crappy things are (IYO) and (b) maybe take some time off from the boards until things settle down a bit... I'm NOT saying I want you to leave or anything of the sort - sometimes a break helps. It can get messy 'round here but if you don't call attention to it maybe it will go away - it usually does. Or the Mods make it so... Peace. And other warm-fuzzy crap. p.s. I'd be very upset to find the posts on the Harry Potter threads wiped out for a month - NO WAY - that can't happen!
  7. I'm sure there is but I never made it that way. It would make sense that there would a New England recipe that would use up all the parts of something, like fish heads, to get all of the food available from an animal.... My fish (or clam) chowder recipe: 1 stick of butter 1 large diced onion 2-3 stalks of celery - diced 4-6 potatoes - peeled and cut into cubes 1 lb of haddock or cod OR 1/2 lb of clams (shelled, of course) 1/2 lb of salt pork 1 gal of half and half 1/2 gal of whole milk salt FRESH pepper (like from a pepper grinder) Dice and fry the salt pork in a large skillet. Save the grease. Set the salt pork aside. Pour the grease into the bottom of a large soup pan. Add the butter and melt the butter over low flame. Add the onions and celery - cook until tender. Add the fish or clams - cook for just 2-3 mins. Add the half and half and the milk. Turn up flame until it is ALMOST at a boil - try not to boil this because a skin will form on the top. Add the potatoes. Turn heat down to a simmer. Let simmer at least 1 hour. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve with oyster or chowder crackers and the salt pork (float the salt pork on the top of the chowder before serving - like a crouton.)
  8. Native New England Foods.... Cranberries Blueberries Maple Syrup Apples (wait til this fall - you'll see what I mean) pumkins corn potatoes (more of a Maine thing) beans nutmeg
  9. I'm not sure on the connection between the doe and Lilly Potter. There's many doe/stag references in mythology, and perhaps that's part of it. When I first read of James' stag Patronus I was reminded of C. S. Lewis' "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" story. It's never mentioned if Lilly had a different Patronus prior to her and James becoming a couple. Since Snape carried a torch for Lilly, it is interesting that his Patronus was what her's once was... but again, it's never mentioned before what it might have been prior. More interesting is the dig that Snape gives Tonks - even tho he was in the same boat, eh? Question: What's up with the curse(?) of the "ghost" of Dumbledore at 12 Grimmauld Place coming out everytime someone new comes in the house??
  10. If you've ever been around J0hn Che@ler, who's now in NJ (I believe), then you know what a face melting is.
  11. Army green. That's funny because I've always wanted blue eyes!
  12. Oh gawd.... that's so old... and I was so much thinner... grrrrrrrr
  13. Shellon - For the record - I meant no offence to you and did think of your childrens' father when I made that post (and others who have scattered ashes in the Way Woods) but was, in fact, referring to the rumor and also the proverbial "bodies". I pray my post didn't upset you, but I also assume you'd PM me if I ever crossed that line with you. Peace, -K

    Fish

I've never heard of fish tacos... Do tell...
  15. ...and that's what I mean when I say I'm old enough to know this all isn't going to go away... One other thing... Big Dogs clothing is coming out with a t-shirt showing their Big Dog mascot spanking Vick. Of course you can send it to a friend - or you can BUY it... Yup, someone has figgered out how to make $$$ off this - and that's upsetting to me with ANY crime... It's just WRONG. Period.
  16. They can't sell HQ - that's where the bodies are buried. And then there's the graves of the founders who are there, too.
  17. This might upset some people around here... But... If I was black and that statement was pinned on me by the NAACP, I would be outraged! The statement is stereotyping black people and black culture - it's an ignorant, offensive, and negative thing to say! You can liken it to cockfighting, bullfighting, fox hunting - you name it. Just because it was done in the past - that doesn't make it right today. It needs to stop. All of it. (But Chas is old enough to know it won't - but maybe this Vick case will shed some light on things...)
  18. Two thoughts after seeing that: 1. That was soooo uncanny... 2. Is "schlub" a word?
  19. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I don't it would have mattered if it was VPW or PWH (Pee Wee Herman) but I'm quite certainly that somewhere, someone would have let the fact they were top dog go to their heads and screw up....
  20. Actually, Chas is 5'8" but built like a brick house. I do sometimes act like a blond - but I'm a red head - and keep my hair very short - sorta like Annie Lennox. I've posted this pic before - if I can find a better one, I'll post it. It's just that I'm usually on the OTHER side of the camera. Here's another pic of the whole fam-damily
  21. I echo Rocky's comment - I'm supposed to care? There's waaaayyyyyyy bigger issues in life than some over privileged, over-paid, washed up child star snorting rock and driving tipsy, getting a slap on the wrist. BFD. Aren't her 15 minutes of fame up yet? Good grief... And I don't see her as a teen roll model - nor do any of the teens I know... she's a joke. A has been. Looking for attention.
  22. Here's a rain dance for ya...
  23. Yes, correct... what was I drinking that night when I posted? :) (Acually, hubby and I had just had a deep conversation about Nephlim in mythology just before I posted - I twisted my words. Whoops!) I can totally relate but my understanding is that they could be made to do Voldy's will. That's why I thought she might be inferi. I respectfully disagree there only because there was certainly a history between them. Lilly saved Snape from James & Co's prank on him where he was turned upside down. Snape was less than kind to her but wasn't as "hateful" as you would expect him to be. The memory was painful to him becuase he was humiliated in front of someone he had feelings for, in my opinion - that made it even worse. There were small details that made it seem possible - not just "wishful thinking"... Since the reference is to the word "boy", I would assume this is talking about Snape, not James. Lily didn't date James until after they were out of school. Interesting... hmmm... Well, yes. Wouldn't Snape have known the nicknames from Wormtail himself, considering that's what Voldy called him? It's certain that the nicknames could have been used when the four were not in their animal states but could have likely been used as "pet" names for each other. Snape knew Lupin was a werewolf BEFORE he came on staff at Hogwarts, so it only makes sense. As for Tonks' Patronus and Snape's snide comment - I took it that he knew Tonks was basically rejected by Lupin at that time, who didn't want to get involved with her due to his "condition" and because he felt he was too old for her. Snape may have also done it because he knew Tonks was a pureblood, a relative of Bella and Cissa (a niece of theirs, I believe.) I took it as a dig - something he did quite often to all those around him (Harry, Ron, etc.) I've always like Molly's character and knew she was strong. The profanity had nothing to do with my liking it - it was just a good duel. Question: Who raises Tonk's and Lupin's baby?
