  1. But his facial expressions and body language were the best... This is my favorite Carlin skit - Dogs & Cats:

Carlos Santana + Eric Claption = Eric Steckel WOW! But when you're a legend by the time you're 18 years old, where do you go from there?
  3. There once was a man from New Breman... Who thought that we was all filled with demons He danced on a stage And got into a rage But chased us all out the door with his screamin' (Oh... the rhyming possibilities with "Breman" are incredible.... but I behaved!)

**BUMP** Have you all gotten over your case of GAS? (GAS = Gear Acquisition Syndrome) Please tell me we haven't exhausted this subject...
  5. Nice choice! I think you'll be pleased with your purchase - that's considered the Generation II version of the car. They were mostly made in Canada by Chrysler and we see a "Chrysler Intrepid" (no Dodge brand on it) every now and then. Generation I were manufactured from 1994-1997 and Generation II was 1997-2005, I think. A couple of years ago, hubby wanted the R/T version of that car you bought for your daughter - it had something like 250hp and was bright red. (Can you say: "Speeding Ticket" ?)
  6. My favorite take out/drive thru is Dunkin Doughnuts or Honey-Do or Aroma Joe's - gotta have either an iced coffee or a hot coffee at all times. The problem is that the dog LOVES coffee - he is the caffeinated corgi! (Like corgis need caffeine!) And the drink holders in the minivan are at just the right height! The only fast food I really like is Sonic - love their chili-cheese fries!
  7. There we were, on the WOW field in Nashville, TN ('92-'93)... Hubby (version 1.0) and I were with our team at the Maharry Medical College campus, going door to door. We came across what looked like a dorm and thought we'd hit pay dirt when we found the door was unlocked. There was also a guy in a very casual clothing (pj's and robe), reading a book or newspaper. Hubby (1.0), who thought he was going to save the world, started witnessing to this guy. The guy started out being just annoyed with us but that quickly escalated into anger and worse. The guy was Muslim - and had a nasty opinion of Christians. Before we knew it, we were fleeing from the building with this guy s-c-r-e-a-m-i-n-g behind us. It was a high drama moment for sure. As we exited the building, I looked up and saw a sign over the door way - the building wasn't a dorm... it was the Psychiatric Ward of the University's hospital! How INSANE was that?!

Got one - and highly recommend it! Hubby uses it for acoustic gigs (he just got a pickup dropped in his Gibson 6-string). It's got great tone for solid state - it's almost warm. (The one you linked to is a tube amp, tho.)
  9. That's a good time frame - I wish we'd do more things like this around that time... It's hard to goof off from work with the little ones running amok and they're in bed by 8PM.
  10. If you don't believe in Global Warming, I hope you do believe in Fortune Telling... Because... I predict this thread is headed to the Soap Opera forum or the political forum soon.
  11. No, that seems perfectly normal when you spend your mornings listening to a purple dinosaur talk, sing, and dance! Yes, and they know how to use it.... it's called every freakin' Sunday Teaching Service for the past 20 years!
  12. Are you serious? Is this really what they taught? OMG.... What about the stewardship of the mittens?
  13. You guys are observing Carbon Belch Day on 6/12, aren't you? Please don't disappoint me.
  14. I highly recommend an older Dodge Intrepid - pre 1998. The older models have the best engine that Dodge EVER made. Ours is going on 199,000 miles and we bought it with only 48,000 on it (it's a 1997 model with a 3.5L engine, 214hp - yeah, baby!). We've had ours for 8 years now! It's comfortable and has a lot of safety options. It's very safe in the snow and my preference of the three cars we have whenever there's bad weather and I have to drive. (I also have a 2005 Town & Country mini van and a 2007 Jeep Liberty). If you get the 3.5L version, expect a great stereo system and lots of power options. Ours has power everything and a sunroof. It was the car we left in from our wedding and the car we've used to bring both sons home from the hospital in when they were born. We've had as many as four cars at any time and the Intrepid was always the favorite. The real bonus of our Intrepid is that it has AutoStick - clutch-less automatic transmission. It allows me to slow down without touching the breaks in snow/ice. It has literally saved my life more than once in an intersection. I can come out of an intersection in second gear - more power - and not skid. I'm glad I've got it and plan on keeping it. The only down side is that it doesn't get great gas mileage - city is about 17-19 mpg, while highway is about 26-27 mpg. It's better than the minivan or the Jeep... In short, you should be able to get one for less than $2K and look for one that's already had a tranny replaced - that's the ONLY thing we've replaced in ours - we still have the original exhaust, engine, etc. - and it's not garaged (we're in New Hampshire - not kind weather up here.) Have fun!
  15. When I had my first baby, I learned of something called a "birth plan" where the mother can list her wishes on who she wants in the room when the baby is born, how she'd like the the lighting, and if she wants music to be playing, etc. This is more of a "boutique" hospital thing, in my opinion, when it comes to birthing babies and although I had my wishes listed, I don't think a single one of them was a reality, as my first baby was a preemie - something we hadn't planned for. Now hear of people making plans for how they want things - their final wishes while on this earth - as they are dying. It makes perfect sense as it's the last thing they'll ever have control over and therefore, its very meaningful to them. It falls into the realm of "Palliative Care" and it's something more hospitals are implementing. It's not just for the dying - it's also for the ones who are healing - but it's something that's been recognized as a need. My feelings or impression of this is that, if it helps to make the patient comfortable, then it's a positive thing and should be embraced. People do not heal well when they're in pain and discomfort. They also don't die with dignity when they're in pain and discomfort. If music brings them relief from whatever suffering they're experiencing, then it's a good thing.
  16. I'd be into it almost anytime -- But maybe we should set up a googlegroup or something to alert people via email to tune in. I think it would be more productive than a thread. I'm doing good if I get to GSC a couple of times a month nowadays. An email would be a good communication tool here.
  17. That was awesome! Great imagination!
  18. Because by the time the service was over, we were all in such a stupor, it was so we knew our own name at the end of it all!

    ebay gone wild

The seller's name is "Craig" ... What's wrong with this picture?
  20. There is a movement in the pastoral care practice where music is part of complimentary medicine for patients. It started out as more of a hospice thing but I've seen it move into more than that. There's no doubt that there are benefits to it.
  21. Maybe Matilda can confirm this, but I thought many were used in SNL skits?
  22. I also eBay'd mine - think it brought about $20, if memory serves me. Old Way Mags were sold to my ex-husband's household fellowship coordinator - found out he's still drinkin' the Kool Aid. That was a rather weird encounter....
  23. The R-n-R Hall of Fame is probably the only GOOD REASON I would have to set foot in OHIO again...
