It was about that time that I gained respect for Penn as an actor. He had three VASTLY different roles in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Taps, and Bad Boys, and he did them all very well. I didn't remember Esposito, but I remembered Penn and Cruise. Whom were you considering the main character, Tim Hutton or George C Scott? George

Well, there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in this "quiz." All of the shows mentioned except "Fantasy Island" are currently running on CW. (I forgot to add "Roswell," also on that channel.) There was a Fantasy Island reboot with Malcolm MacDowell on ABC in the late 1990s, but the current manifestation is on the FOX network. It stars Roselyn Sanchez as Elena Roarke, apparently the niece of the Ricardo Montalban character. She has her own "Tattoo," but this one is simply a woman with a tattoo and who is always referred to by her name ("Ruby"). The show lacks some of the charm of the original, but is definitely watchable. I have not seen the reboots of Dynasty, Charmed, 4400, or Roswell. The "Walker" show stars Jared Padalecki (of "Supernatural" fame). He's a Texas Ranger, but the episodes seem more about family drama than catching bad guys. And there is none of the Chuck Norris martial artistry. In fact, there are almost no fistfights. The current "Kung Fu" involves someone coming to America after studying at a Shaolin temple, but that's pretty much the only connection to the original. It stars Olivia Liang as Nicky Shen, who left her home in San Francisco to "find herself" at the temple and who returns to fight a supernatural foe to recover certain artifacts. In this version, pretty much all of the actors are Asian. I find "Fantasy Island," "Kung Fu," and "Walker" interesting enough to keep watching. All Arrowverse shows are on CW, so the shows I mention above are probably on whatever station you see the superhero stuff. Maybe not. Even so, you have a 1/6 chance of picking the right show, though there's no telling if it airs in your area either. George

All but one of these older shows have current counterparts on the CW network (including one with a minor title change). Which one is NOT on the CW, and what network DOES show it? Walker, Texas Ranger 4400 Charmed Fantasy Island Dynasty Kung Fu George

I didn't meet John, personally. I do remember rather vividly, though, a teaching of his on grace. He was a pitcher, presumably for his college baseball team. "There I was -- up by a run in the bottom of the ninth. By SOME STRANGE TWIST OF FATE, the bases were loaded with nobody out. I struck out the next two batters with six BLAZING fastballs. At that point, the first baseman told me that with two out, he wouldn't be holding the runner on. Of course, I knew that. After two pitches to the batter, I could see the runner at first with a big lead, so I completely forgot what the first baseman had told me. I wheeled to throw to first, and life went into slow motion. I couldn't throw to first, because the first baseman wasn't there. I couldn't hold on to the ball, because that would be a balk and bring the tying run in. So, I threw it to the RUNNER. Reflexively, he caught it, then dropped it like a hot potato and started running. The umpire called him out for interference. Game over. Grace: being completely in the wrong but coming out smelling like a rose." Rest in peace, John. George
