  1. In this movie, a British lord, who thinks he's Jesus, sues an auto company because of an accident. The company's attorney is his attorney's daughter. Stars Peter O'Toole, Gene Hackman, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. George
  2. I was hoping that Laura would take some of the energy out of the Gulf, but temperatures still seem to be about 86 F. George
  3. Static, I think. Because of the counter-clockwise circulation of northern hemisphere storms, the west side of the storm is the "clean" side; the east side is the "dirty" side. I didn't get a drop of rain. (And no wind, power loss, etc.) My prayers go out, of course, to those in Louisiana. I have a nephew who just moved to New Orleans. I'm sure he's fine, but I'm sure it was quite a change for someone who has lived in the Chicago area most of his life. George
  4. As Laura approaches landfall, the storm surge seems to be the biggest problem. I'm not sure I'm even going to get rain. My local weather radar shows no rain here before at least 3 AM. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad I'm not by the Sabine Pass, but I COULD use some rain... George
  5. Fred Gwynne Fatal Attraction Glenn Close George
  6. Laura is now a Cat 3, might strengthen to Cat 4 by landfall. Not so much like Ike as it is like Rita. The good news, such as it is, is that it's moving quickly. As the map above shows, it will be a tropical storm by tomorrow afternoon and a depression soon after that. Pearland (just south of Houston) is about 100 miles from the Sabine River. We expect tropical storm winds and heavy rain for a few hours overnight. Ideally, I won't even lose power, but loss for a day or so is easily manageable. Also, I need my fence to be intact to let the dogs out. People in LA, east of the landfall, are in for a much worse time of it. They're definitely in my prayers. George
  7. Don Cheadle Iron Man 2 Mickey Rourke George
  8. That's Professor John Keating and 2 students from "Dead Poet's Society." This might even be the scene with the photos and "Carpe Diem" in the hallway. It is, indeed. George
  9. Fine. It was Blue Swede. Go. George
  10. I knew it was Tom Cruise by looking at him. And the device in the other actor's hand looks like it could have to do with predicting the future. I'll get one up, soon. George
  11. Nope. Unless no one else gets it. The general rule for covers is, if the lyrics as given are in more than one version, any one of them is fine. If the lyrics are specific to a particular version, then that one must be given. Here's a hint: it wasn't Red Finn. George
  12. These must be storms of non-tropical origin. Francis seems to be near the UK right now. George
  13. We tend to forget about the storms, once they turn away from America. The ones that make the Isles are generally much weaker by that time, but not always. Praying for you and yours. George
  14. Deleted repost. I thought my previous post didn't show/ George
  15. Laura is starting to look a bit Ike-ish, in path and strength. We weathered that one okay, but I'd just as soon see a weaker, more eastern storm... George
  16. Houston's not quite out of the woods, but I don't expect major impact here. Newscasters are noting that the storm surge could be a problem (from Laura); but I'm too far inland for that to get me. Galveston's sea wall should also absorb most of the brunt for that city. Smaller coastal towns (Freeport, etc.) might have a rough day. George
  17. BJ Thomas did sing this song, but he didn't do this version. (No Ooga-chuckas in his version.) George
  18. Ooga-chucka-ooga-ooga Ooga-chucka-ooga-ooga George
  19. I suspect that WW or Raf will have an answer. Or, you can Google on Tuesday. George
  20. You don't need to know another MR movie. You need someone who appeared in the BoP movie. George
