  1. "Forget it, kid. You'll put your eye out." George
  2. "It may be the last action you'll ever take, Mister Spock, but it was all human." "Totally illogical. There was no chance." "That's exactly what I mean." "You're not going to admit for the first time in your life you made a completely emotional decision based on desperation?" "No, sir." "You are a very stubborn man." "Yes, sir." "You said a while ago that there were always alternatives." "Did I? I may have been mistaken." "Well at least I lived long enough to hear that." "Look, these people are my friends and my shipmates. I intend to continue this ship's search for them until the last possible moment." "Very well, captain. But not one second beyond that moment. Is that clear?" "I'm frequently appalled by the low regard you Earthmen have for life." George
  3. I googled his picture. He looks familiar, but I can't think of a movie with him in it (well, other than "King Kong," I guess). George
  4. It's been four days. I'd go for it. George
  5. I usually give it a couple of days between posts. Here a a couple more which will probably make it obvious. "You're not going to admit for the first time in your life you made a completely emotional decision based on desperation?" "No, sir." "You are a very stubborn man." "Yes, sir." "You said a while ago that there were always alternatives." "Did I? I may have been mistaken." "Well at least I lived long enough to hear that." "Look, these people are my friends and my shipmates. 6. No problem. You may note that when you add an emoticon to a post, it appears in your draft as the code. You can type the code instead of clicking the emoticon. Sometimes, it's just faster to type colon-lol-colon than to find the  emoticon! George
  7. Well, I was in college in the early 70's, so I don't know it. George PS. If you type colon-hyphen-close parenthesis :-) you get the "text smiley." If you type only colon-close parenthesis, you get the icon smiley :) semicolon-close parenthesis gives you the wink ;) FYI
  8. To quote myself from the first post of the thread: "The idea here is that a line from a film is so memorable that it immediately identifies the film. (In lieu of a single line, a short exchange between characters is acceptable.)" So there. ;) jbarrax is up. George
  9. "Look, these people are my friends and my shipmates. I intend to continue this ship's search for them until the last possible moment." "Very well, captain. But not one second beyond that moment. Is that clear?" "I'm frequently appalled by the low regard you Earthmen have for life." George
  10. "Rocky IV" "Hello, HAL. Do you read me, HAL?" "Affirmative, Dave. I read you." "Open the pod bay doors, HAL." "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that." George
  11. There was an episode which began with a hidden Federation observation station (essentially, a holographic "duck blind") that lost power to its holoemitter, revealing the occupants to the local citizenry. I don't remember anything else about the episode, though. George
  12. Not on my iPod. Well, I don't have an iPod, but you know what I mean... :) George
  13. ????????? Sounds liek a wild movie! George
  14. I'll be honest with you. I'm not likely to get ANYTHING (rock or country) post-2000. George
  15. Was this the one where a disguised Worf helps his step-brother move a people from one planet to another by keeping them in a holodeck for days? George
  16. This is a well-known movie, and, for me, it's a memorable line. Hopefully, it will be as obvious to others... "What is the point of all those push-ups if you can't even lift a bloody log?" George
  17. And, as I recall (from GS BBQ) great looking enough to make that particularly consternating! ;) George
  18. That wasn't the only reason, by the way. In general, it was my failure to kowtow when told things that didn't make any sense. For example, I owned a house, free and clear, about five miles from where I worked. I had a Twig leader (not the same one) who had fellowship in his home, about 35 miles away. The Limb and Branch leaders kept trying to get me to sell my house to move closer to Twig. No, thanks! George
  19. I'm not sure I understand the question. I'm a PhD Chemist who reads Greek. Does that mean I was too smart for PFAL? George
  20. Let's get this train back on the track. WordWolf's up. (I assume he was correct about "End of the Line.") George
  21. Interestingly, that person is a lurker here, and just contacted me. Left NASA to join the Corps. Left TWI to join the human race! George
