  1. You got kicked out by the BOD? I'm impressed! With me, it was just my Branch Coordinator (with the Limb Coordinator on the phone). George
  2. Indeed it is. Although this past season was supposed to be the last, it will be back next fall by popular demand. George
  3. I'd be amazed if there isn't a photo of one on this site somewhere. In short, it was the sign-up card for Power for Abundant Living (Foundational Class). One side had your personal information on it; the other had a list of purported benefits from taking the class. I even had a poster-sized one for many years, used at demonstrations. George
  4. Didn't the original Mormon elders ordain each other, because there were "no true leaders" out there to confer the authority? George
  5. I was brought up RC, and was fairly active in the campus RC church when I was in grad school. I was witnessed to, decided that I did need to learn more about the Bible, and went to fellowship. The logic and heart of the teachings kept me. Again, this was the late 70's, when things were still "good." George
  6. I would agree with Oakspear. It's not as if the new groups attempt to mimic the Roman Catholic church or some other "orthodox" group. Anyone who wanted to go back to that after leaving TWI would have no trouble finding a church to attend. George
  7. All I do is type the name of the show, in quotes, followed by "wikiquote" in my search engine (google). It will usually be one of the first few hits, if not the very first. Alternatively, you can type the name of the show, in quotes, followed by "quotes". This will give other possible places to find quotes, like IMDb and TV.com, and, probably, wikiquote. Once I'm in wikiquote (or whatever), I just copy and paste the quotes here. I find it best to have two browsers open, one for Greasespot and the other for teh quote source, George
  8. Okay. It's that George Clooney thing with a lot of good folk gospel music. John Goodman is "Cyclops." I forget the title. George
  9. We have a winner! Go for it. WW. George
  10. Naturally, the cuss-blocker changes every instance of Pesh-tta, even in the links! If you want to use Gen's first link, you'll have to cut-and-paste into your browser and replace the "dang"! George
  11. "I swore I was done hunting for good." "Come on, it wasn't easy, but it wasn't that bad." "Yeah? When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45." "Well, what was he supposed to do?" "I was nine years old. He was supposed to say, "Don't be afraid of the dark."" "Don't be afraid of the dark? What, are you kidding me? Of course you should be afraid of the dark! You know what's out there!" "So how'd you pay for that stuff? You and Dad still running credit card scams?" "Well, yeah. Hunting ain't exactly a pro-ball career. Besides, all we do is apply. It's not our fault they send us the cards." "You're not cops. Not dressed like that, not in that crappy car." "Hey, no need to get nasty." George
  12. This has GOT to get an answer: "Invitation sir." "I should be on that list." "Name?" "Stan Lee." "Yeah... Nice try." "Reed, I know you. I'm glad you had fun." "Thank you." "Besides, it was nothing compared to what I did at my bachelorette party Talk about wild." "Sue, you're on fire!" "Ya think?" "Did you know I could create a force field inside someone's body and expand it until they explode?" "Give it your best shot." "My people called it...Galactus, the devourer of worlds. It must feed on energy to survive, both thermal and organic." "How could you willingly serve this thing?" "Because I must." "Doesn't it bother you? All the worlds and innocent people you've helped destroy?" "My service spares my world, and the one I love." "Why are you destroying our planet?" "I have no choice." "There’s always a choice." "Not always." "You said you weren't the one trying to destroy our world. Then who is?" "The One I serve." "Who do you serve? Look, I'm trying to help you. But in order to do that, you have to tell me the truth. Please." "Let me make this clear for you and your pack of freaks. I'm the quarterback, you're on my team. But I guess you didn't play football in high school, did you?" "You're right. I didn't. I stayed in and studied like a good little nerd. And fifteen years later, I'm one of the greatest minds of the 21st century. I'm engaged to the hottest girl on the planet. And the big jock who played football in high school, he standing right in front of me asking me for my help, and I say he's not going to get a damn thing, unless he does exactly what I say and starts treating me and my friends with some respect." "All that you know, is at an end." "If we can't stop this, if it's really the end of the world... how are you going to spend your last few minutes?" "Part of me would like to go out fighting... but to tell you the truth, I think I'd like to spend my last few minutes holding onto Alicia." "That sounds good to me." George
  13. All righty, then... This was the DS9 episode "Dramatis Personae." Another one of those ancient-energy-life-forms-take-over-personnel-to-re-enact-some-ancient-war stories. Early in Season One, this one plays on distrust between Federation and Bajoran personnel. Odo saves the day. FREE POST! George
  14. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Angelina Jolie Wanted George
  15. And, of course, what one person considers to be an obvious line from a well-known movie may not match other people's experiences. I rarely see Academy Award winners, because they're too "artsy." Even many of those, though, I could guess because the tag lines are very well-known. Just because I don't know the answer, though, doesn't invalidate the clue. :) On the other hand, if you say, "If I use this line, it will give it away"; and so, don't use it, you're missing the point of this thread. George P.S. I still can't place this flick.
  16. I guess Paw's response was to bump this up. I have no idea what the song is. George
  17. Yes. Although Bullinger was trinitarian, he differentiated between the Giver and the gift. George
  18. Is there a single quote from the movie which WOULD give it away? THAT'S the quote you should give! Be sneaky in "Name That Flick," not here. George
  19. I should point out that this was funnier before Waysider went back and edited his post. :) George
  20. Which is, interestingly, the idea of this game. "Name that Flick" is the proper venue for more challenging quotes. (Though, even there one often has to give easy clues after the more difficult ones don't click.) George
