Name that Star Trek Episode
GeorgeStGeorge replied to GeorgeStGeorge's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
That's the one (though you should have mentioned that it's a DS9 episode). The first exchange is between Dax and Julian about Melora's wheelchair. The second involves Melora (1), Julian (2), and a Klingon restaurateur (3). Melora wouldn't eat the racht, not because she found Klingon food repugnamt, but because it wasn't fresh! Go, WW! George -

"I haven't seen one of these in three hundred years. I'm surprised it was even on file in the replicator's data bank." "It wasn't. Ensign Pazlar sent me the specifications." "She actually uses one like this?" 1: "Excuse me, I can't eat this." 2: "I know how it looks but..." 1: "P'kar tel Durg Le Frakn'l?" 3: "Dug a bul, rah'tar!" 1: "D'tel klop a bul!" 3: "Pak't pol!" 1: "D'kar tel G'denna!" 3: "I like a customer who knows what she wants..." 1: "There's nothing worse then half dead Racht." "It's the Word Keeds" vs. "It's the Money Keeds"

Seems likely. I just can't see Walter going off on random tirades and driving people off. On the other hand, he might have been easier to remove by the more ambitious leaders than Craig would have been. George -
Hopeful, It sounds as though you have potential "comfort zones" waiting for you in a number of places. Check them out! You should probably check websites like Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com for potential job opportunites in those areas. You didn't mention kids. I'm inferring that you have none from the "no family here" remark. That should make it easier to move. George (who was let go from his job of 26 years in June)

I. for one, no longer need deliverance from TWI (though, since I attend a spinoff of a spinoff, some might disagree). What I get most from GS is the interaction with so many folks here. Some, I've had the pleasure of meeting in person (Dooj, Tom Strange, Paw, Ex10, DWBH, and others); others, I may never meet but consider kindred spirits (Raf, WordWolf, socks, excathedra, Sudo, nowI see, and others); some, I don't know if I'd slug or have a beer with if we actually met (well, Rocky is the only one presently in this category). I'd really hate to see GS go; but, obviously, Paw's need for peace in his own life are more important than my need for cyber-buddies. But if the site (or at least the forums) can be handed off to another, I'd like to have it stick around. FWIW. (See, I never knew about all these abbreviations before GS!) George

This one's probably been done before, but... My Daddy said "Son, you're gonna drive me to drinkin.'" George -
Okay, here's another setting for the same TV show: three pics, need two names George

I'm sure it's not "Spiderman," since the line about radioactive spiders and kryptonite is an allusion to Spiderman and Superman. It probably also bespeaks a fairly recent vampire movie, so "Twilight" seems reasonable. I haven't seen it so I don't know for certain. George

That's the NG episode where Saul Rubinek (?) plays a collector who fakes Data's destruction in order to kidnap him and add him to his collection. Geordi figures out what happened and leads the Enterprise to Data, beaming him up just before Data shoots the collector (in order to save other lives). George -
Well, that's swell; but how about answering it? Anyone??! George

Well done!!! :eusa_clap: George

My DSL connection at home is on the blink and won't be fixed until Saturday. I'm going to answer this myself and then leave it open to anyone. Robert Louis Stevenson. The first quotes were from Treasure Island. The longer quote is from The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. George

If Raf deigns to respond, and if perchance I was correct, someone else may take my turn. My DSL connection at home is on the blink and won't be fixed until Saturday. George

IMHO, If you're divorced once, it may not have been your fault. If you're divorced twice, it's an even bet that it's your (or largely your) fault. If you're divorced three or more times, it's your fault, if for no other reason than your inability to pick a worthwhile spouse. George

FINALLY!!!! "The Deadly Years." One of the few OS episodes where a woman actually dies. Kirk, McCoy, Spock, Chekov, Scotty, and Lt. Galway beam down to a planet where people have apparently aged very rapidly. Chekov gets spooked by seeing a dead person. After beaming back up, all the party except Chekov age rapidly; the first sign is Kirk forgetting that the Romulans have broken Code 2. Soon, they're all old, and Lt. Galway dies. Commodore Stocker, on board, asks Spock to take command; when Spock declines, Stocker takes command and orders the Enterprise to take a direct route to Starbase 10, running right through the Romulan Neutral Zone. They are, of course, immediately surrounded. McCoy finally figures out that Chekov's fear caused an adrenaline rush which prevented his becoming afflicted with radiation poisoning and orders adrenaline shots for everyone, with a double shot for Spock. Kirk gets back and orders a message to be sent Code 2, knowing that the Romulans will intercept it. He pulls a "Corbomite Maneuver," and zips away when the Romulans withdraw. Engage, Mr. Steve!! Same author, different work: All at once, I saw two figures: one a little man who was stumping along eastward at a good walk, and the other a girl of maybe eight or ten who was running as hard as she was able down a cross street. Well, sir, the two ran into one another naturally enough at the corner; and then came the horrible part of the thing; for the man trampled calmly over the child's body and left her screaming on the ground. It sounds nothing to hear, but it was hellish to see. It wasn't like a man; it was like some damned Juggernaut. I gave a few halloa, took to my heels, collared my gentleman, and brought him back to where there was already quite a group about the screaming child. He was perfectly cool and made no resistance, but gave me one look, so ugly that it brought out the sweat on me like running. The people who had turned out were the girl's own family; and pretty soon, the doctor, for whom she had been sent put in his appearance. Well, the child was not much the worse, more frightened, according to the Sawbones; and there you might have supposed would be an end to it. But there was one curious circumstance. I had taken a loathing to my gentleman at first sight. George

These ideas were pounded on by LCM, though he might have gotten the idea from VPW. Actually, Loy had no problem with investing in a company, it was just the random, "buy this-sell this-buy this-sell this" speculation that he considered gambling. I'm not so sure I disagree. George
