  1. National Lampoon's European Vacation Chevy Chase Foul Play George
  2. It's a Rambo film. I think the first one was called "First Blood." George
  3. Raf clearly knows it. In fact, his response is another quote. George
  4. Well, a mint COULD act as a lozenge, soothing the speaker's throat.... George
  5. A classic "Earthworm Jim" cartoon: EJ and Peter Puppy are having lunch in an International House of Haggis. PP: "This isn't bad! I wonder why no one's in here. What is this, anyway?" EJ: "It's HAGGIS! The heart, lungs and liver of a sheep boiled in its own stomach." George
  6. "You know, here's a discussion: Why is it that we remember the past and not the future? " "That's a tough one, Larry." "Look, it's my first date in over thirty-five years; I would like memorable instead of low-key." "Low-key and memorable aren't mutually exclusive. You know what my favorite date ever was? Pepperoni pizza at a laundromat." "Yes, which explains the conspicuous absence of grandchildren. So, Wednesday, 7:30. Bring a date?" "So what does all your behavioral science training tell you about a grown man who still lives with his mother?" "Probably about the same as two brothers still mooching meals at their dad's house three nights a week." George
  7. George, You're going to meet another man named George. Tell him that life should be fun. Have him kill a rapper, if necessary. George
  8. Yeah. I remember when the "tough guy" at school might show off a switchblade. Not that he (or anyone at school) would actually use one. George
  9. I'm pretty sure I know it. I'll see who else jumps in. Good one, Suda! George
  10. The last one sounds like LaWanda Page ("Aunt Esther") "Sanford and Son"? George
  11. Interesting thread, Pirate. If I had to write a letter warning myself of some big mistake, though, joining TWI wouldn't have been it. I'm willing to take the bad with that I endured to enjoy the good. There WERE a couple of OTHER mistakes I'd love to change, though! George
  12. "With a Little Help From My Friends" Beatles. "A winter's day, in a deep and dark December." George
  13. I remember when TV stations (the few we had) actually SIGNED OFF at night. George
  14. "These walls were not meant to shut out problems. You have to face them. You have to live the life you were born to live." "After all, the wool from the black sheep is just as warm." "There were times when we would look at each other; oh, Mother, I could hardly breathe!" "Is it to be at every meal, or merely at dinnertime, that you intend on leading us all through this rare and wonderful new world of... indigestion?" "I hope you appreciate the sacrifice I'm making." "You have no choice." "I know... That's why I'm making it." "There's nothing more irresistible to a man than a woman who's in love with him." George
  15. And an especially happy day to you, Kevlar. Happy birthday! George
  16. That's it (although it's spelled "Fawlty," after the main character Basil Fawlty, played by John Cleese). A PBS show I actually watched a few times! George
  17. "Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach. Those that can't teach, teach gym." I heard it from a college instructor. Original citation unknown. George
  18. I name my dogs after comic book characters. My first was Ambush Bug (a looney character in some Superman stories). The two I have now are Zook (the Martian Manhunter's sidekick in the 60's), and Snapper (named after Snapper Carr, the Justice League's mascot, also in the 60's). George
  19. You've got all the clues. I think now it's just a matter of pronunciation! :) By the way, Suda, if you get this YOU have to post one. George
