  1. But it IS about "breaking bread together." In general, one doesn't eat with people he's not intimate with. Of course, there are times when that's not true (business functions, TWI functions); but think about it. You go out to eat; whom do you eat with -- strangers? You eat in your work (or school) cafeteria; you sit with the closest associates you have. One real sign of friendship is whom you coose to eat with! George
  2. It's "Yo' Mama." or something like that... George
  3. I'm not sure you'd win that bet, but thanks! George
  4. That was pretty neat. I've been to Rome City twice (once for a wedding, once for an Advanced Class), and it didn't seem that gloomy to me. Of course, I was never there in the winter... George
  5. The number of stars is an average, so it will take a few others to move Rhino up. Or down. George
  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EAGLE-BABE! George
  7. Congratulations, Rascal! Your perseverance reminds me of this classic line: "Walk on road, hm? Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later [makes squish gesture] get squish just like grape. Here, karate, same thing. Either you karate do "yes" or karate do "no." You karate do "guess so," [makes squish gesture] just like grape. Understand?" Well done! George
  8. I believe Kathy is correct. In fact, it's "his" story! My jazz band recently added "The Anniversary Song" to our repertoire, so I recognized it immediately. AJ took credit for writing it, but it's an old Romanian love song. George
  9. That's it. "Heroes" has a bunch of characters with different powers. The cheerleader is essentially invulnerable, so she could "walk through the fire without being burned." (She's also entering the 11th grade.) One woman has a SEVERE split personality, so when she looks in the mirror... A scientist died while attempting to classify such mutations; his son now carries on. The first season was all about stopping an evil mutant (Syler) who could absorb anyone else's powers, becoming eventually a human bomb that would destroy New York. That crisis was averted at the end of the first season, so this season, the characters seem to be involved in pointless episodes, though there is some overarching theme involving a Japanes symbol and someone out to kill the older mutants. George Takei and Nichelle Nichols have appeared as parents of a couple of teh heroes. I'm waiting to see if Walter Koenig will show up! George
  10. A couple of these threads seem to have turned into two-player games. Well, hope springs eternal. "This is where the adventure is. This is where heroes are made. Right here... in the wilderness." "Have you ever served with any Bajoran women?" "No. Why?" "Just wondering." "Doctor, most people in my experience wouldn't know reason if it walked up and shook their hand." "That may be the most important thing to understand about humans. It is the unknown that defines our existence." "Fire six photon torpedoes across their bow." "All we HAVE is six photon torpedoes!" "We won't win this battle with torpedoes." "I suppose you want the office." "Well, I was hoping to say hello first, and *then* take the office, but we can do it in any order you like." [sarcastically] "Hello!" George
  11. I was always taught that to IGNORE the five senses was stupid; but, yes, spiritual realities are greater. As far as Key #4 was concerned, though, it was always taught that what you could know BY READING THE BIBLE you were expected to know. George
  12. What's wrong with that? My grandkids are my favorite people in the world! George
  13. Okay. If you've seen the show at all, this one will give it away: "Save the cheerleader; save the world!" "I walked through fire and I didn't get burned." "That's easy for you to say. You're not wading into the shark-infested water of 11th grade." "My father spent his life chasing after this insanity. Now I'm wasting mine trying to prove he was sane." "Sometimes I look in the mirror and I'm not sure it's me looking back." George
  14. I thought that was a fifth grade science test... George
  15. The shag's not carpet, Baby! Yeah! George
  16. Gene Hackman Absolute Power Dennis Haysbert (If you don't recognize the name, he was the first President Palmer on "24." Now he shills for Allstate.) George
  17. Yeah, Baby, yeah! George Not really old, but pseudo-old!
  18. Well, you've been to every one so far... George
  19. Shirley MacLaine The Apartment Jack Lemmon George
  20. For you, Rick. Oh wait. That's Blues Man, not Blue Men. George
  21. I don't know...that picture you posted about a year ago showed that you DID have the right stuff! George
  22. I'm glad Dan bumped this up. I doubt I would have seen it otherwise. I toyed with the idea of being a comic-book artist when I was young, but stuck with chemistry, which was probably the right choice. I've enjoyed your posts over the years, thinking of you as somewhat a kindred spirit. And now, having seen your website, I have a true mental image of you. (Remember the "How do you picture your fellow posters?" thread?) God bless, George
  23. It's been about three weeks since anyone's posted here. I was feeling nostalgic. George
  24. This should be easier: Nancy Allen Blowout John Travolta George
