You're right. Nothing you tell me will help. George
-
It's a lot like the "Room 222" theme, but it ain't it. George
-
It's actually "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension." Close enough. You're up, Raf. George
-
Yeah, WW. Raf got Pirate's clue, and I got Raf's. George
-
Darn!! That's another one that's very familiar but that I can't place right away. I'm sure I watched this one! George
-
It looks like Val Kilmer to me. Was there a movie entitled "Valiant"? George

I avoided reading this thread until I saw the movie, just in case there were some spoilers. (There weren't, but better safe than sorry.) I thought the movie was fine. There were a LOT of homages to Superman 1 and 2, but I got a real kick out of them. And it was nice to see Noel Neill and Jack Larson again. (Noel's cameo in S1 was all but written out in the theatrical cut; her part (as Lois Lane's mom, with Kirk Alyn -- Superman from the old movie serials -- as her dad) shows up in the uncut version. The special effects were great, though there wasn't much "super" action for a 2-1/2 hr film. I think I understand why hiway was so upset, since there was a MAJOR breach with the Superman - Lois Lane tradition. Hiway, just pretend it's "an imaginary story." (That's what DC used to call stories that broke from standard continuity -- as if all the other stories were "real.") I honestly don't remember whether Kid E was from Earth-S or Earth-4, and I'm not inclined to go look it up. WW, one small point: the 60's heroes were "Silver Age," not "Golden Age." (That was the 40's.) So, when do we get a "World's Finest" (Superman-Batman) team-up? George
-
OK, OK I got the second theme now. One of the stars is doing rather well on a new show on CBS. Once a doctor, now a Fed! As for 5/4 songs, two others that come to mind are Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" and Jethro Tull's "Living in the Past." George
-
"The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band? George
-
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are. George
-
Your first clip WAS easy. Not many theme songs (or other songs, for that matter) written in 5/4 time. The second clip was really familiar, but I just can't place it. George
-
Beats me. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be obvious! George

One of the strict rules we have at work is no downloading. If that's why Sudo's and Rick's sites are blocked, I don't know. I DO know that asking my sys ad why I can't open such and such a site while I'm working would only open a can of worms. George
-
Sudo's is blocked, as well. Maybe it's because of the fear of downloading music or something. I'd rather not ask my administrator. George

Ca is correct. George And Neil Diamond actually recorded "I'm a Believer," but I think he did so after the Monkees (since he wrote it for the show).
-
Bluzecentral is blocked from my work computer. As always, I'll have to wait until I get home, and then someone ELSE will have given the answer. :( George
-
I haven't seen the movie (or read the book), but Ca's clue gave it away. I assume it's "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." George
-
"I'm a Believer" by the Monkees (and covered recently). It was written by Neil Diamond, and was actually his biggest hit. Interesting that you picked that line. I always thought it was "When I needed sunshine on my brain," which made sense in a 60's kind of way. I found out the real lyrics while doing karaoke. I can build a castle from a single grain of sand. George

Here I go to all the trouble to get Tom to quit looking at the properties, and now that's all we get! Just kidding, Ca; I know you're trying. Your second link gave me a "File not Found" though. George
-
You're probably right. The Bush picture is probably another "Duh." George
-
I was about to give the answer, and then I thought, Why not give the rest a little more time? Here's a clue, though: Kathy's movie and mine are related. George
-
Now I get it! Is there supposed to be a picture before the hand/keychain? It works okay without it, though. George
-
Indeed. If you want to lurk, feel free. But if you correctly guess the puzzle, you post another. Kathy's has me stumped for the moment. George
-
OK, Kathy, you need to get back there and post one, now!! George
-
AND I said that if you guess it, you have to post one! George (For those who didn't see it immediately, BOAR + NUN + (Willem) DAFOE + DOVE + JEWEL (Kilcher) + EYE)
