  1. ET the Extra-Terrestrial "Uh uh. I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?" George
  2. Forest Gump "You've got me??? Who's got YOU???? George
  3. In general, the even-numbered movies were better than the odd-numbered ones. George
  4. OK. Star Trek 1 and 2. ST 1 was a lot like "The Changeling." ST 2 really did well. George
  5. Star Trek 5 and 6? Star Trek 5 was an awful lot like the worst ST episode ever, The Way to Eden*. Star Trek 6 wasn't the best, but it was a very good movie. George *If you say the worst episode was "Spock's Brain," I couldn't argue with you. It was horrible, too.
  6. Knowing the tune, it's easy to hear Ringo's voice singing it. But just seeing the lyrics written didn't trigger anything. George
  7. When the star was negotiating his salary, he had his choice between more money per week and no ownership stake in the show, or less money per week and part ownership. He chose the ownership deal and never regretted it considering the series' durable popularity in syndication gave him a regular income even as he struggled with being typecast by it. When asked how he developed his trademark voice for his character, the star said that it came from watching "The Thin Man" movies starring William Powell and Myrna Loy. After hearing Powell repeatedly say, "Asta! Asta!" he decided to imitate his voice for the character. Rumors that the female co-star's character was originally to be given a more suggestive name were debunked by the actress. Talk show host Johnny Carson made cameo appearances twice during the show's run. Once as a train conductor, and again as a royal herald in a foreign King's court. George
  8. "I lost. I lost? Wait a second, I'm not supposed to lose. Let me see the script." 1: "As my first order of business, I would like to appoint a new Sheriff... my friend Ahchoo." (Crowd): "A black sheriff?" 2: "He's black?" 1: "And why not? It worked in Blazing Saddles." George
  9. Correct. Ryan was the first to pass up Johnson, with Carlton a week or so behind. Perry was later. Ryan is the current record holder and the only pitcher with more than 5000 strikeouts. Strikeout and win records favored older pitchers who pitched every three days, so they could easily pitch 50 games a year. (They also threw a lot more pitches. I remember a Cubs-Cardinals game with Ferguson Jenkins and Bob Gibson both pitching in the 10th inning.) With four-and five-man rotations, one rarely pitches more than 30 games in a season. George

  14. Yep. I love the bass counterpoint. "Don't you know that she's..." "Everything about her..." George
  15. Both great pitchers, but no. Glavine finished with 2607, Maddux with 3371. Further clue about the remaining two pitchers. One was a Phillie in 1983, the other was a Royal. George
  16. There may be some s in our future, but I'm not getting it. George
  17. Unless the Scot's name is also the name of a TV show, I'm not sure this is the right thread for this. George PS: Clever hiding of the Scot's gender...
  18. Yes and No (in that order). Still need one more pitcher (Seaver did pass Johnson, but later.) George
  19. Maybe it's the clothes she wears Or the way she combs her hair Oh, that makes me want to tell her that I care George
