Two Big Ten teams down. One to go. The Tar Heels ran Michigan State out of the building in the second half. Can anybody stop Sean May? See you on Monday.

6 out of 20, but my brain has been fooling me for years.

The Captain was good but the local Romper Room babe in Knoxville was much better looking. I got to be on her show once, but she never could see me through her stupid mirror either. Used to tick me off too.

I hear that Chief Illiniwek, the symbol (please don't call him a mascot) of the Fighting Illini, will not be making the trip to St. Louis. Apparently, the chief is not considered politically correct. I guess some Native American groups consider the Fighting Illini name itself to be offensive. No word on whether any Greek-American activists are protesting Michigan State's Spartan mascot.

One Big Ten team down. See you in St. Louis. Ugly is that slowdown style that Wisconsin plays. They sure didn't want a game in the 80s today but the Heels made them speed up.

Not "Bull Durham" but its the same sport.

It's from a movie with a sports theme.

Michigan State doesn't surprise me. They're a good team and Duke never seemed to be interested in playing in this tournament at all. But Wisconsin? They've got to be the ugliest team I've ever seen play. Now we'll see how they do against North Carolina.

Did Terri Schiavo's parents ever try to get guardianship?
Pirate1974 replied to waterbuffalo's topic in Open
Terri Schiavo is not in a coma where there might be a chance that she could come out of it someday. Her cerebral cortex has atrophied, or shriveled up, and that space has been filled with spinal fluid. That's the part of the brain that controls thinking and that can't be reversed. She's not going to "wake up" from this. This Dr. Cheshire of the Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville based his opinion on a 90-minute visit with Terri this week and based on that is contradicting teams of neurologists who conducted extensive examinations of her. He admitted that there was no evidence of verbalization, conscious awareness or voluntary behavior, yet he said he observed "the distinct sense of the presence of a living human being who seems at some level to be aware of some things around her." I'm no doctor, but a "sense" would not seem to be enough. Where is this information coming from that doctors supporting Terri Schiavo's parents side haven't been allowed to testify? Web logs? In every hearing I've read about in an actual news report, there has been testimony from doctors on both sides. The first hearing that resulted in the order to have the feeding tube removed had testimony from two doctors chosen by Michael Schiavo, two chosen by Terri's parents and one chosen by the court. The testimony that has been backed up by clinical evidence, and not feelings and theories, is that Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state. One of the doctors who has testified on behalf of Terri's parents is a Dr. William Hammesfahr, who concluded that "Terri is definitely aware of her mother." Hammesfahr is a very controversial figure in Florida, considered by many neurologists to be a quack. He has been accused of offering treatments that have no basis in medical fact in order to exploit desperate patients for financial gain. True or not, he doesn't seem to be the best choice of someone to have on your side. I've read what a monster Michael Schiavo is, but didn't he go to nursing school ten or twelve years ago to try to learn how to take care of his wife? Is that all part of his elaborate plan to get his hands on that money, most of which has been used up in caring for Terri according to most reports. The real tragedy is that there are only two people who know what Terri Schiavo really wanted and one of them can't tell us. -

I think Andy was supposed to be Amos' partner in the taxi business. You wouldn't know it on the show since he never did seem to do any work.

So now Barry Bonds may sit out the whole season, or maybe just half of it, because of his knee surgery. How convenient. Anybody want to bet that we'll see a much smaller Bonds when he comes back, maybe something closer to the 185 pounds he weighed in Pittsburgh than the 235 that he is now? Of course, knowing Barry, this might all be b.s. and he'll be in the Giants lineup on opening day. If only the evil media will stop trying to destroy him. --> Personally, I think the main reason that players shouldn't use steroids is that THEY'RE AGAINST THE RULES! It gives some players an unfair advantage. I know that's naive of me to think that way, but if baseball had a real testing policy they could probably cut steroid use way down. I don't believe they'll ever do away with them permanently anymore than they can get rid of pitchers doctoring baseballs. I'm not really much of a baseball fan and the only time I really pay attention to it is during the playoffs and the World Series. Should I care if Jose Canseco went from a basically easygoing guy to one who likes to beat up women and little guys in bars, possibly a symptom of "roid rage?" Should I care if Gary Sheffield damages his liver? Should I care if Jason Giambi's hair falls out? Should I care if Barry Bonds' testicles shrivel up? Probably not. You can't go back and take away any records or add any asterisks to them, but baseball can make a real effort to try to keep steroids out of the game. Of course the real power in baseball, the Players Association, will never let that happen. Personally I think the International Olympic Committee should take the medals away from all those Russian and East German "female" swimmers and runners from the 70s and 80s. They were juiced up with so much testosterone that they had to shave their faces every day and they had voices like Barry White.

And that's "Law & Order: SVU" I think it's more that Hollywood's too lazy to come up with new ideas so they rehash old ones. Do we really need a remake of "The Longest Yard" or "The Bad News Bears? They're coming out this summer. Not to mention the black version of "The Honeymooners" with Cedric the Entertainer as Ralph and Mike Epps as Norton. That should be interesting.
