  1. Rhino, This church has a massive parking lot. It is in and area with acreage around it. It is in a wealthy zip code with many millionaires and a few professional athletes that go there as well. Is it too big? Seems a bit ostentacious to me, but on the other hand I have learned to keep an open mind. They have a lot of good families there and good people. THey consider themselves a community. I think that's cool. One of my single employees is an enthusiastic member and it is the highlight of his life. He is a honest hardworking employee and I know it has made a difference in his life. I have know of some humble county churches that were horrible and filled with sin and hypocrisy and evil people behind the scenes in spite of the bible verses that were spoken. (I was raised in a rural area.) Yet others I'm sure are outstanding. Large or small can be successful or failures. VPW used to tell us "Kids, the only reason for the existence of our ministry is because the churches are not doing their job." That was decades ago. Now it appears as if the churches have stepped up to the plate and TWI has struck out. John Richeson Tampa, FL
  2. Sure Copucake, There are many good choices here. I now see that The Way unjustly criticized other denomination because they were simply jealous of the competition. They invented rubbish about having the accuracy of the word to set themselves apart. The fact is they have no more accuracy of the word than other denominations. And does it do anyone any good to split hairs over every jot & tittle of manuscripts of which there are no originals and in which can be interpreted in a variety of ways? NO! I am more interested in seeing what fruit is being produced and how others are being helped in an organization rather than whether they feel they have a corner on truth. Honestly, The Way seems completely dead. That explains the extreme boredom that permeates the organization. Dead bodies are very boring aren't they? And they stink after a while. I guess some people are attracted to death. Yechhhh!
  3. After all these decades you would think that TWI would have more followers than the handful left. It is estimated that there are under 5,000 and as little as 3,500. TWI in recent years is very private about their numbers because they speak volumes about their downward spiral in my opinion. Yet I feel it is the right of every involved member to know how many people are actively participating. Most churches are proud of their numbers and make this information available to its members. In speaking to a long standing staff member at Camp Gunnison last week it is apparent that they have no clue as to the numbers. Nor do they seem to care. After all "it is not the numbers but the quality" he said. Not true! Numbers are an telling indicator. He seemed a little surprised when I told him the numbers. Once again outsiders know more than insiders. They appear to still have their heads buried in denial. Even local churches do better. We have Idlewild Baptist church here which just opened its gleaming new $75 million facility on 143 acres to accommodate its thriving membership which has grown from 350 to 10,000 in 20 years. It is state of the art from top to bottom including a full orchestra and a 200 member choir. They have terrific youth programs, singles programs, and about anything else you can imagine. It is lively, exciting and open, and yes, they teach hot bible. (By the way I am not a member of Idlewild.) Compare that to TWI which has supposedly reached out to the world for over 50 years. Little old local Idlewild is much larger and alive. And that's just ONE of the thriving congregations here. It is soooo obvious it is almost embarrasing. Just compare these two websites and ask yourself what is wrong with TWI? To me TWI's site seems secluded, unfinished and lacking while Idlewilds has so much to offer you hardly know where to begin including whole sub-websites. http://www.idlewild.org http://www.theway.org I am astounded that anyone still belongs to TWI except for those in top positions who can control their comfortable lifestyles with the hard earned ABS of the beleivers of the past. John R Tampa, FL (Former member / Corps grad for over 25 years until 2000 when kicked out by Gxilxs, Moneyhands and Rozilla)
  4. Mistaken post. Sorry. How do you edit old posts? Some of the pictures on this thread are in correctly linked and I would like to fix them.
  5. Like it or not, VHS is dead. I will miss him. R.I.P. :D :D Why do you need to burn these files on a DVD? Why not a CD? If is because you want to watch your files on a home DVD player like in your living room, you may have to burn it in a format that will play on those kind of players. You can use Windows built in Movie Maker to do this. You will need DVD burning software as well. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/m...november25.mspx I recommend Nero for the best DVD / CD Burning software out there and Pinnacle Studio as the most awesome software to create and edit your masterpiece. As always, there is a wealth of information all over the Internet. You just have to be determined. It takes time and trial and error but in the long run it can be worth it to get a handle on DVD burning. John R. Oh, and if you wonder if you can go to your local Blockbuster, rent a movie and burn a perfect copy of it, the answer is yes. But you need software to do it. DVD decrypter was just shut down by hollywood but I have a feeling this cat is out of the bag to stay. I do not recommend that you break the law. Just go buy it if you like it as we do. After all, movies are pretty cheap and you get all the packaging. I think a greater threat to hollywood is high-er speed Internet such as FIOS and even faster in the future. Download pirated movies in no time ready to be burned on a DVD?
  6. No, Dori, haven't heard from him for many years. If you hear from him have him contact me. John
  7. WHere will your Florida Home be Ted?
  8. OMG! I am not on here much anymore Ted so I just glanced and saw this one. Congrats old man! :D Will you be in St. Pete, Clearwater? Where will your Mom be? John R.
  9. Belle, What a sad pathetic move. He really lost out when he let you go. I do not understand dumb and I guess I never will.
  10. Garth yeah I know Wayne. :D Hi, Chatty. How is Ohio? Say hi to hubby.
  11. Oh, he's gonna love it. That thing is fast, excathedra. It looks a little like this one. Only his hard drive is a bit faster (for his love of gaming). Garth, get up. you are a pathetic little man! :D (not really)
  12. They don't "pull you over". Who says? Never heard of that. But what they do is follow you very closely, take your licesne tag and if you pull into their (our) grounds they will pull up to you and ask you if they can help you, etc. Just like I used to do when I was a minimum wage security guard when I was 19 at a large plant I worked at. Sadly these are grown men playing security guards in the cornfields of Ohio. How did they get conned into doing that? They should look at themselves in the mirror some day and say"For what"? There are far more honorable jobs, such as helping people who really need it. Not to mention the pay sucks.
  13. I spent months in my spare time on this one! Lots of problems, trials and errors until I got the right combination of components. Now it's a solid machine, very stable, very fast and very loud. Not quite in the "Dream Machine" category but pretty close. (Go to link at the very bottom of my page to see what would be the beginning of a real Dream Machine) Custom Built Computer If you are shopping around for some upgrades these components proved to be stable under harsh conditions and by now are already coming down in price. With the exception of the keyboard, these are some of the best components out there in my opinion.
  14. Shhhh! I agree wholeheartedly with your post. I heard it too directly from the man whom they revere as their "father in the word". And Donnie knew it as well. They dishonor him and others.
  15. I am one of the many who heard VPW him say this as well. Legally it may be private property but we all know that it is not right for them to have such restrictions. I would never have contributed as much money and labor if I knew that it was all lies. I also agree with what HCW wrote in the other thread concerning this issue. Some of us did not leave TWI but were unjustly kicked out and never invited back. I have a friend, Donnie F who is buried in the Way Woods. He was an employee for years and we fellowshipped almost daily during the last few years of his life. We shared a lot and talked a lot and laughed a lot. I would like to stop by and say hi to Donnie some afternoon when I am in the area and maybe even bring some of the soil from the Way Woods back home to Becky and the boys or snap a few photos for them. I will do so...one way or another. Donnie would definitely get a kick out of it. Who knows, maybe I already have.
  16. Tom, I do not think Paula was in this group. First LEAD group I am about in the center. It was cold up there that afternoon on Mt. Yale.
  17. Yes, NotInKansas, I am crazy and I know it. But you would be surprised how many like me there are out there. I was born witout a natural fear of heights I think. Yes, I was on the first LEAD and climbed the most difficult cliffs easier than our so called leaders did. After our session they asked if I would joing LEAD staff when I graduated. I said no because it was not challenging enough and I hate camping and the whole nature thing.
  18. My new Avatar picture was taken from this one. I was posing that day on the edge of a 32 story building. (No hurricane winds that day. :D) Picture of the building click here
  19. Today we were getting quite a bit of rain and sporadic winds from these god.dam hurricanes here in Tampa, FL If I never see another god.damnable hurricane for several years it will be fine with me. But it has been very good for our businesses.
  20. You can find his picture and a short post from him and his email address here: 7th Corps
  21. I think she passed away. :D-->
  22. We were the best of friends when we were in the Corps together. I went to NYC with him once at his home in Da Bronx. It was fun. Last time I saw him was when he was best man at my wedding 1982. If you hear from him have him contact me. His picture is posted here: 7th Corps John R. Tampa, FL
  23. ****** cultists! Stop posting now and get on with your lives. I ain't old but how did you know I was blind? It was from too much ultraviolet here in the sunshine state. (Maybe Wayne Pierce will try to heal me, Simon). Ha.. I forgot Mike won't let us curse. How do I say God...... D.A.Mmmm the best way on this site? That is was the first word of my post. Post your curse words now so I can learn how.
  24. Oh,my God! Here am I and my wife. Am I aging according to the word of truth or according to the vices of this world? I moved to Florida decades ago to seek out the fountains of youth at the beaches here. I hope it is helping to stop the aging process. God help us all!
