  1. I doubt that there are that many people who know her as well as, say your next-door neighbor, or the other parents in PTA. (I didn't say none)Somehow, Mrs. W, as wonderful as she very well might have been, has become a symbol to a lot of us ex-wayfers, a symbol of what we wish TWI had turned out to be: the haven of love, the family among families. She's also a symbol of "the victim", many characterize her as the first recipient of Wierwille's abuse. She's become that symbol, and not a real person. Maybe she was afraid to speak up against her husband during his reign as MOG, maybe women just didn't speak against their husbands in those days. But she had the opportunity to walk out the door with four of her children. She had the opportunity to not stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Martindale, and criticize those who claimed that they loved her while leaving TWI as not manifesting true agape. I wouldn't wish Alzheimer's on anyone, and I think it's sad what has happened to her, and a rotten shame how TWI has cut her loose when she was of no further use to them. My heart goes out to her family as well. But she accepted the benefits of being "The First Lady of The Way" and all the perks that it entailed for a long time.
  2. I've learned useful organizational skills that I have put into practice in my job and around the house. For all the jokes we tell here about stringing chairs, the attention to detail that TWI insisted upon has helped me in organizing many events for work, Boy Scouts, etc. I was never much for managing my money until TWI started "encouraging" us to keep track of every penny. I'm much more together with my finances these days. Of course, I had to put up with a lot crap to learn these things, and I could have learned them in other places, but I did, in fact learn them.
  3. Hooray for you guys who are "out" and not afraid of the WayGB reading what you write. So what? The danger of the WayGB was never to those of us who are out of TWI, it was to those who were still in, and wanting to keep the fact of their posting here secret. To those who were trying to convince a spouse to leave with them, who wanted to leave on their own terms rather than when they were thrown out because of "devilsih internet activity"
  4. I'm sure that was your experience Oldies, but I recall hearing leaders (not sure if Wierwille was one of them) that most people were born again before coming to The Way, that The Way and Wierwille were responsible for bronging people to "an accurate knowledge of the truth"
  5. ...and another thing... I know longer believe that SIT is necessarily or exclusively what TWI said it was. Others, besides Christians, speak in tongues.
  6. I had heard about speaking in tongues from a Charismatic group in my home church. They taught that it was a gift, I found out later. The first time I actually heard anyone speak in tongues was at my first twig. I thought it was pretty cool and went home that night and did it without any "instruction" from anyone. I no longer beleieve in the concept of being "born again", but when I was 14 I made a conscious decision to recognize Jesus as Lord and believe that God raised hiom from the dead, although I think I sorta believed that since I was a leetle tyke.
  7. Well, I'll disagree with your disagreement. Agreed?
  8. David: I can't hold it in any more. I love you. I've always loved you. Maybe it's that glint in your...er...glinty...eyes that does it for me. Maybe it's the sexy way you type "oxygenated". I want to have your babies. I finally had a bottle of Penta water. That explains it
  9. I believe he had a plagiarizing ministry
  10. No biting and needling from you, though
  11. If I seek truth from other sources other than God and His righteousness,I will only get ignorance. All true knowledge comes from God. I disagree The Master key to understanding God's Word is Jesus Christ. I disagree No man or woman is really very strong in themselves. Men and Women have to get their strength from God and His Word. I disagree Don't become fossilized in systems. I agree, but this isn't really what TWI taught - or rather, their mouths said it, but their actions and what they expected of us disn't Do what God tells you to do and not what people think you should do. I disagree, don't do either Our first responsibility as believers is not in serving God,but in knowing Him as our heavenly father I would say that the latter is better than the former, but don't quite buy i and I disagree, not with the assertion that TWI taught these things, but that they are true
  12. It's my opinion that the WayGB started getting serious about tracking "innies" down when it became evident that they were being spied upon. Back on WayDale, there apparently were posters who were on staff at HQ, or close enough that it didn't matter. I recall times when the news out of New Knoxville was several days behind what I'd already read on WayDale. Don Wierwille was dead FIVE DAYS before it was announced to the "innies", while someone posted it on WayDale THAT NIGHT. There were so many leaks that they began giving out different fake information in different areas to narrow down where the leaks originated.
  13. I've been attending meetings with a group for close to two years. I have never been asked to join. I have never been asked to give money. I have never been asked to give time. It has never been suggested that they know all the answers or that I learn from them. Absolutely no pressure.
  14. I did, Merriam-Webster On Line, a pretty good one. So, assuming that it's an actual word, and not one you made up, or spelled incorrectly, what does "dissitate" mean?
  15. As of now you have 6666 posts dmiller...significant? Come to the dark side, fiddle boy...come to the dark side
  16. Oh yeah: Sure sounds like blaming the weak to meMaybe I'm just dissitating
  17. Although this one wasn't in the dictionary that I checked
  18. 1. Since you were told that Martindale's "one time affair" was in the past, and that he had "handled the situation according to the Word", and he was even named head of research, why was he kicked out? 2. Since, in so many situations, perhaps upwards of 95% of all situations where one spouse was kicked out or put on probation, both were kicked out, even if only one was "off the Word", why was Donna allowed to stay in, and given a position of honor? 3. Since the writings of former Way leaders such as John Lynn, Peter Wade and Walter Cummins, and even music from Joyful Noise, Pressed Down, etc, was removed from the Way bookstore due to negative influences, why is The Rise & Expansion of the Christian Church in the First Century by Martindale still being used? 4. The Way often claims that there is nowhere else that The Word is being taught to discourage people from leaving. Since there are offshoot ministries that teach virtually the same thing, why do they still make this claim? 5. Since large parts of Receiving the Holy Spirit Today, among other writings, is lifted almost word-for-word from other authors, and virtually all of what is in Power for Abundant Living is derived from other sources, how can Wierwille have claimed that he was teaching the Word of God as it hadn't been taught since the First Century? 6. If Wierwille believed the promise that God supposedly made to him, that he would teach the Word to Wierwille as it hadn't been taught since the First Century if he would only teach others, why was he ready to "chuck it all" in 1951 (?) when he went down to Tulsa and learned to speak in tongues? 7. If Chris Geer and those who followed him out the door are so devilish, and the Passing of the Patriarch is so "off the Word", why did all three Trustees sign it and write remarks in the margins that they agreed with it? 8. An hour with a Young's concordance will show that none of the Hebrew words that Martindale "defines" in his teaching on The Original Sin of Mankind" in WayAP carry a sexual connotation, why then is this nonsense still being taught? 9. Show me a text that has "God" as the first word. Not a translation or a paraphrase. A text. After you fail to find one; why is it taught that it is? 10. Why does a ministry that promotes research, and supposedly teaches the skills to "work the Word" make statements like "we haven't found a text, but it has to be that way?
  19. Your god was kinda slow for a lot of folks
  20. I voted, but I doubt what I believe now could be called a system
