  1. Oh, and of course I haven't even deployed yet and my retention NCO is promissing me the world, LOL...I've been in long enough to know, "if it ain't in writing...it ain't" the E-6 promotion in the field will be nice though...LOL
  2. Thanks Rum. I gotta figure out the distance from the two. I want to live off post. BTW, got my "unoffical" offical orders to ship in December. Gonna miss Christmas! that sucks!
  3. Just made some *deals* & its now down to Fort Carson/Colorado Springs area or Boulder...which place has maximum mountains & wildlife??
  4. 1969....I was 3 years old. Too busy playing w/ my toys...
  5. Thanks for the info, Rum. I actually got my recipes from my own civilian veterinarian, and some tips form the vet here @ Ft Lee. Forcing your pets to be Vegan is animal cruelty. They are carnivores! Those people have a mental disorder
  6. I cook all of my cats food. and my Parrots. Its garbage what they put in manufactured pet food.
  7. Looks like its gonna have to be Ft. Carson, if I want the Army to pay for it....Boulder was looking really good too. Oh, well. Maybe I can swing a deal somehow...
  8. Rum, I'm starting to think it's a good gig myself too, LOL...have a captain morgan or 151 on me!
  9. Thanks everyone for all the advice. I was born & raised in Philadelphia, so I'm comfortable in a big city if I have to be there. I'm registered independant, and lean to be moderate conservative. I'm pretty laid back & easy going so I tend to get along with everyone. Extreme libs don't bother me really. I just ignore them or tell them I'm a Taliban hunter and then they leave me alone after giving me a look of disgust..LOL... I don't hunt, but I enjoy wildlife and nature. I currently work in law enforcement which I'm growing tired of really fast. I've thought about staying in the military (I have 12 yrs left to get in my 20, counting my reserve time) but I haven't decided yet. And I'm finishing my biology degree through the Army. My background is in healthcare & animal medicine. let me know what other demographics you all need to better help me. I had someone suggest Evergreen. They stayed there once. Thanks!
  10. I'm considering a move to Colorado after my deployment to Aganistan, and I am looking for advice on the best places to live. Scenery, cost of living, jobs, etc...I'm also a wildlife kinda guy, so I'm taking that into consideration too. Sometimes I'd prefer to live among mountain lions, bobcats wolves & bears rather than the neighbors I have...LOL I know a little about the Ft Carson area, but thats about it. Any help is appreciated!
  11. I was waiting for all the inapropriate bad jokes to start...I wasn't disapointed! LOL... http://www.celebjihad.com/celeb-jihad/dead-michael-jackson-jokes
  12. A very cool story :) http://news.bestfriends.org/index.cfm?page...DC0160C0FBA533A
  13. Yeah...a nice pair of cement shoes would take care of the perpetrator!, huh!... My OCD is much better today I took my meds! I'm no longer paranoid! I must have just been having a moment when I posted the other day I don't go around worrying about it everyday, it's just that being in the military - it's been programmed into my brain - 'situational awarness' 'situational awareness'...over and over and over... it has been beat into me so much that sometimes I just walk around in the city looking over my shoulder just by habit. not even really thinking about it. There's no feeling to it either. I just catch myself doing it. I don't go around ducking at loud noises or staring at rooftops looking for a sniper. It's just hard to seperate the training sometimes, and it's not something you want to unlearn or get lazy with, in case you do get sent to the sandbox. I need to keep that discipline. Your life litterally depends on it in that environment.
  14. What would you do if an IED were to go off in your neighborhood? My Army Reserve unit has added some new training to our monthly drill weekends. I serve in a medical/hospital unit and along with our section level training, my unit has now begun to incorporate more infantry training which is designed to help us devise different strategies for countering the weapons and the homemade explosive devices that have wreaked havoc in Iraq, known as IEDs, or Improvised Explosive Devices, in a domestic environment. I suppose that this sort of thing now seriously poses a rising threat to the United States. According to some media leaks in my area, they have reveled that IEDs going off in your neighborhood are increasingly becoming a credible threat from known sleeper cells, but state and local officials still have no blueprint for countering the threat of improvised explosives. According to the media in my area, the first responders & police in my area are still insufficiently coordinated and lack essential resources, manpower and are improperly equipped. In your neighborhood, do you know who the various federal agencies are, and if they have in place protocols for this sort of thing? How is your local bomb squad equipped? The explosives-sniffing dogs? Are they all at the airport? Are their any available in your community? What kind of funding does your local bomb squad get a year? What kind of explosive detection devices do your local police have? My OCD makes me paranoid at times, but I suppose that a domestic IED threat across a wide spectrum in small town America and in our huge metro areas must be a credible major threat, or I wouldn’t be training in these scenarios now. This is info from some of my unit’s Soldiers returning from Iraq on some “domestic” IEDs they have confiscated throughout Iraq that doesn’t make CNN: -Blocks of TNT with a remote-controlled detonator, daisy-chained and concealed in garbage cans -Abandoned cars filled with fertilizer and fuses -a suicide runner that was taken out with one of our M240 machine guns was found to be carrying a peroxide-ammonia based explosive. It’s just safe for everyone to find out if your community has some sort of coordination of IED prevention in place from your local and state law enforcement and domestic protection agencies, such as the ATF, your local bomb squad, etc. Compare the capabilities of all your local and state bomb squads and first responders. Find out if they are trained on terrorist IEDs. Get to know your law enforcement and the soldiers that live in your communities. I guess soon we will prepare for IEDs like we now prepare for hurricanes. Man, am I paranoid tonight or what! I need a vacation! Anyway, I love what I do in the Army and I love serving all of you, God's people Cheers, everyone!

    For Pet Owners

For some reason my pics won't upload! I'll try this again... Anyway, all of my little buddies are rescued animals. I volunteer for several rescues, so its kinda hard not to bring a few home with you, if you know what I mean... My little buddies: 8 cats ( 5 females, 3 males) 2 dogs: a german shepherd & border collie 2 parrots ( a sun conure & a solomon eclectus) 3 bearded dragons and a colony of about 8 feral cats that live on my deck & in the woods behind my house...
  16. How sad... Like I've said before, how a society/culture treats it's animals is a measure of how it will eventually treat it's people... I participate in my local ASPCA's TNR program for feral cats and it does work, and as an animal care specialist in the army, we have started to use this philosophy too. How sad...what an embarassing failure we are as stewards of God's creation... 17. Dogs' Letters to God Dear God, How come people love to smell flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Where are their priorities? Dear God, When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story? Dear God, Excuse me, but why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not one named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! I know every breed cannot have its own model, but it would be easy to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle! Dear God, If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog? Dear God, When my foster mom's friend comes over to our house, he smells like musk! What's he been rolling around in? Dear God, Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps? Dear God, If we come back as humans, is that good or bad? Dear God, More meatballs, less spaghetti, please. Dear God, When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get in? Dear God, We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields, and frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand? Dear God, Are there dogs on other planets, or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the beagle across the street! Dear God, Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize? Dear God, Is it true that dogs are not allowed in restaurants because we can't make up our minds what NOT to order? Or is it the carpets again? Dear God, When my family eats dinner they always bless their food. But they never bless mine. So, I've been wagging my tail extra fast when they fill my bowl. Have you noticed my own blessing? Dear God, I've always lived at the shelter and I have everything I need. But many of the cats here have names and I don't. Could you give me a name please? It would be good for my self-esteem. Dear God, The new terrier I live with just peed on the Oriental rug and I have a feeling my family might blame me 'cuz they think I'm jealous of this stupid dog. Since they have no sense of smell, how can I convince them I'm innocent? Does Petsmart sell lie detectors?
  18. Congrats on the new additions!!!!..... I must confess....my house has 16 feline paws.... Much to the dicontent of my two German Shepherds!

  20. Ms. Cindy.... Ahhh...food...YES! that is a good one! You remind me of my mom & grandma. They never went by the recipes either. Especially my grandma. She would season by hand, no measuring, nothing. And it would always be perfect. She continued to cook every Thanksgiving and Christmas meal up until she passed away at 89.
  21. What is your non-spiritual, non-religious stress reliever? For me, I must confess, animals are my Prozac… I don’t know what I’d do w/o my pets. God is truly amazing with the things he’s created. No matter how crappy my day has been, or how much the general public has ....ed me off, there’s something about coming home and watching my cats napping on the windowsill under a sunbeam, or my dog sleeping in front of the fireplace while it’s snowing outside…that totally relaxes me. I can just sit there with a book and watch them for hours and I’m just able to tune out every nonsense of the day, and totally relax. Natural Prozac it is…like Honey Chamomile Tea..but without the bag… Oh, a nice long motorcycle ride in the country is good too. What’s yours? “I’m in the waste- management business. Everybody assumes you’re mobbed up. It’s a stereotype, and it’s offensive.” -Tony Soprano
  22. My anxiety!!!!! Since 1999 !!! what will happen to my sunday nights.... no more gabagool...no more moozadell...no more bacala...... Give me a valium!!!! I really don't believe that David Chase will kill Tony in the end. With a possible movie to make in the future, I don't believe that Chase would want his Sopranos fans to think of Tony as "gone".. a little difficult to "bring him back to life" to do a movie. But then again, half of Tony's crew is gone. Paulie is gonna end up being the Judas in the end, if anybody, and Tony not taking him out will end up being his biggest msitake... But I think Tony will survive. Chase will leave things very open ended. Chase likes to take us over the edge and then drop us.. leaving us to fly to our own ideas... I hope my goomba lives!
  23. Ok..., I'll admit it! I only watched this season because of Haley Scarnato.... Ok....I've confessed! lol.... As a matter of fact, Katharine Mcphee from last year was hot too.... My pick is Jordan. But I think the wild card is the last guy there..., what's his name... Well see I guess
