One of the ironies of The Difference Machine that fascinates me is that Babbage had to design it using manual calculations.

Lovelace knew how to program Babbages machine.. I think before anyone figured out a practical way to build one..

But the mathmetical proof was already there that it would work...Turing...nothing more need be said about Turing except perhaps to mention Von Neuman some many many years later
