It's good to see another person close to my age on here. I had to deal with some of the same people in TWI, and I understand a lot of what you had to put up with.
It's good you're out, and glad you are happy now. By the way, I knew a Joel up in Indiana that I think is the same one you mentioned. I forget his last name but he was a crazy hyper guy that liked to quote Monty Python and stuff like that. I haven't heard from him in years though so I wouldn't know if he was in or out.
My wife read this and was supprised how angry I was and how I used such harsh language at times. I really am happy now and we are both elated as we await the arrival of our very own honeymoon baby. I guess I just started typing and I just had to keep going.... and going , and going. I guess I didn't realize how angry I was. At the same time, how could I not be after being in a ministry that instilled anger and disdain in their followers.
Thank you both for your comments. I always enjoy reading both of your posts. You both sound intelligent and witty.
Mr. P-Mosh, I thought you were around my age and I'm sure we had a lot of mutual aquaintances from twi. Joel was a crazy kid. He and his family left around the fog years. It really is terrible how the ministry has ripped friends and family apart.
Excath, thank you. You seem like a rather sarcastic person yourself. You know I have a catholic friend (not a typical catholic, but catholic none the less) who is very educated in catholic ideolgy and history. It turns out that excathedra doesn't mean what twi told us what it ment. It has actually only been used a couple of times throughout history and it was used to set doctrines that were already widely excepted by catholics everywhere. This might be good for another thread..."Lies twi propounded about other christian groups".
After going throught my posts agian I see tons of spelling/typos, and boy is it long. Sorry, I hope it was understandable. I'm an artist not a typist.

This is similar to my situation (not the honeymoon baby or anything!) I had actually taken my wife (then girlfriend) to a TWI fellowship before, and she had met a lot of TWI followers while we were dating and then engaged. There are a lot of nice people that she met, and she has trouble understanding how really good people can be a part of something I speak badly about like TWI. I guess it's one of those things where you would have had to have been there.

Yeah, there are probably at least a few people we both know. We may not be talking about the same Joel, because the one I am thinking of was in TWI later than that, but it could be my confused perception of time.
Been reading your posts and I'm glad you're here. Like Mr. P-Mosh, I appreciate the prespective of those of you who got into TWI by your parents choice and not necessarily by your own choice.
Love you comments on the other threads - especially the "separate people" post... you're right up my alley!
Thanks, Lindy. I'm sure that wasn't easy to write and, if anyone can understand how someone could be so full of anger, it's those of us here. I'm glad things have worked out for you.
I'm hanging around hoping my family will wake up. I really don't want to leave witouth my spouse and kids, but if push came to shove... knowing what I know now.... I couldn't eat s*** at another meeting either.
P-Mosh, thanks for your input as well. I'm always glad to see you and Lindy have posted when I get on here.
I knew Joel. While I believe I'm your brother's age, and maybe on his WOW team (as the other FC) I have had very similar experiences as you.
It is funny that they teach you how to be an abuser, but they also teach you how to take abuse. They teach you how to confront people, but they also teach you how to fool them by what you say. Anger is good for you, I felt the exact same way for awhile, just "hearing" you brings a lot of it back. With time, I believe, the everyday intensity of it lessens, but you'll never forget. It hurts too much when the only people you truly loved turn their collective backs on you all at once. It hurts when you've lost the idealism of your beliefs on top of that, but with time, you figure out life is better. You are now capable of taking your life to the next level. You now get to figure out for yourself just who you are and what you believe, or don't believe. You'll find that, with time, you are a better person than you thought you were, a better example to the world, and a productive part of society in general. As long as you take responsibility for your actions, and work hard you will see you have a much better life than you did. Many of the basic principles you were taught in the JC come in extemely handy in the "real" world.
Life a few years physically removed and light years mentally removed is much more peaceful, satisfying, and fulfilling now.
...As you can see the conductor has put on the "fasten your seatbelts" sign. please remain seated untill we have completely removed Hope from the tracks.
I remember quite a few teens that were into Suicidal Tendencies. ( A band, for those of you that don't know)
"All I wanted was a Pepsi...."
I is interesting to think about the music that I or others were into while in twi as teenagers.
another quote from that song..
"My best interests? How do you know what is in my best interest?"
Interesting indeed.
Thank you, Pavlov's God, for your post as well. Great name. AARF! I think I know who you are. I'll try to email you some time soon. I think I may have seen you at a single's advance once, post corps for you.
Ex, I'm in my late twenties. Just a youngster.
Insurgent- I feel for you and I hope everything works out for you and your family.
how old are you people ? approx.? i have a short memory and don't feel like going back to read to figure it out (sorry)
I'm 25, but I feel old for my age. :D-->
Actually my parents' friends (TWI or otherwise) always thought I was older than I really was because I would talk to adults like I was an adult, and wasn't too crazy as a kid.
Based on the mention of B-more and your brother being in the Corps, I think I knew your parents when I was a WOW in 1984-1985. You were pretty young, so I really didn't get the opportunity to know you.
Isn't it great to be living life the way you want to? I'm thoroughly enjoying life WITHOUT TWI.

I was mini-corp family12!!! There is almost none left from our group left in. We left in 95 because of normal c**p. I don't know if my mom and i was m&a not that we cared.
My mom is Vivian and worked in the kitchen and we stayed at Rome city till 90 when we moved to HQ.
I still can't believe all the stuff I saw and heard when I was there. LCM aparently was on such a rampage one day at lunch that lunch(which starts at noon) went on till 3pm!!! I wasn't there but heard about later.
Have you heard about Jason C___P?? You said his parents were out but I can't find anything about him.
Congrats on the Baby.
Babies are fun especially when you can hand them back to the parents!!
I think your right. All I can say is that my parents were very Cool. ;)--> I don't know why I type in code here sometimes.
I think that would have been somewhere in the middle of TX. Yee Ha! Thanks for saying Hi.
Megan-
I remember you and your mom. I believe our moms were good friends at one point. It broke my mom's heart when she heard that your mom left the ministry. It will probably break your mom's to know mine is still in. That is the lifestyle of the way...
Are you an actress now or do you just like that quote?

Um, Lindy?
Your story is moving.
I'm also glad that you are now out.
I also realize that it was probably cathartic for you to post your story, and that parts of it may have been difficult to write.
Just try to remember one word when you post a long post, please - "paragraphs".
Thank you. Carry on.

Lindy keep up the good work it sounds like you are doing exactly as my family has. Healthy prosperous, peaceful, and moving ahead.
All the things TWI hates for people to do,cause they know they are not controlling us anymore if we are happy.
And SCREW the puncuation I say.
I copy and paste "LONG post" into Works or WOrd and let it fix it then I print it out to get rid of a few more tree's. hehe
disway datway anyway but that WAY.
