I was so touched by a birthday gift.... thank you friend and thank you janis....

**

Come on, come on, come on, come on now

Didn't I make you feel, oh baby, like you were the only one

Baby didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can

Honey you know that I did

Cos each time I tell myself that I, I think I've had enough

Oh, I am gonna show you baby, that a woman can be tough

I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on

And take it, take another little piece of my heart now baby

Break it, break another little bit of my heart now darling

Yeah, have a, have another little piece of my heart now baby

Cos you know you got it and it makes you feel good

Yes it does

Yeah you're out on the street, babe you're looking good

Deep down in your heart, you know that it ain't right

No, no

Cos you never never never hear me when I cry out at night

Honey I cry all the time

And each time I tell myself that I can stand the pain

Oh you take me in your arms, I sing it once again

I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on

And take it, take another little piece of my heart now baby

Break it, break another little bit of my heart now darling, yeah

Have a, have another little piece of my heart now baby

Cos you know you got it, it makes you feel --

It makes you feel so good

Babe makes you feel so, it makes you wow

You know sometimes it makes you feel so... good

[story]

Come on, come on, come on, come on

And take it, take another little piece of my heart now baby

Break it, break another little bit of my heart now darling

Darling yeah, have a, have another little piece of my heart now baby

Cos you know you got it, wow hey-yeah

Take another little piece of my

Another little piece of my heart baby

Break it, break another little bit of my heart now, oh now

Have a, have another little piece of my heart now baby

Cos you know you got it, it makes you feel --

Baby if it makes you feel so good, yeah

Such a great song!

Have you ever heard John Hartford's version of it? That's one of the rare occasions I actually like a cover better than the original - if you can't find it on kazaa or something like it, I'll see what I can do to send you a clip of it...

Janis

Sang from her heart and soul and it was mind blowing wretching truth of emotion.

She sang like no other about how feelings are, as we all recognize the pain she had in her music.

she just couldnt live with them anymore.

it is like she sang for help and no one heard Yet they sing on for all of time for so many ears without her.

eeeerie stuff .

John Hartford did a version of this song!!??? icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif

He was the ultimate one-man show. Miss him, miss him, miss him. icon_frown.gif:(-->

Met him in Bayfield, Wisconsin a year or two before he died. He showed me how he tuned his banjo (TOTALLY unorthodox), and I never wrote it down. Now I don't remember how he said it was done.

Bow -- would love to know where I could find a copy of this.

dmill! You bet I can get you a copy of that song! John Hartford's my all time favorite musician. He introduced me to his wife. She passed away six months after he did. That still blows my mind. I'll email you.

Thanks. Guess I could check Barnes & Noble, or something like that, but would appreciate the info.

Last time I saw him (again in Bayfield), his bus was parked on a county road in front of some local bar,and he and the "boys" were inside soothing the vocal chords after their performance.

He was a gift to mankind, and I always wondered if the folks in the bar knew who was there with them that night.
