Once it's been guessed, I need to ask some tips. Think I really made a mess of this one!

GSG, you're correct.

The first picture was a person saying "Ah" for A

The third picture was "awn" for on

How do you do A, an, the, of, on and all these tiny little words?

Sometimes it helps to use more than just the small word. For instance, instead of using "awn" for "on," (not a bad match, by the way, just a pretty obscure clue) I might have used Khan (Ricardo Montalban). "Walk Khan" also sounds like "Walk on." Everybody's style is different.

In general, it's best to give clues that don't involve parts of words. If you hadn't explicitly said that that was what you did, I doubt anyone would have got it. Now, if the picture is a person, maybe only one name (first or last) or a nickname would be fine. "And the" has become Andy or Andie a number of times, and Indy (for Indiana Jones) is a good fit for "in the." If I were doing "The Verdict," I probably would have used a dove, John Heard, and Dick Nixon.

Don't let me discourage you, though. It's great that you're playing!

Here's an oldie:
