Toppie...please tell me that woman's bad wig was not a....oh my...dare I say it...uh oh...I feel giggle fits coming on...OMG...it wasn't a MERKIN was it?
I just firmed up Plan B for babysitter for the weekend. Whew, that got close to scary. I almost had to bring the princess along. But all is well, thank God!
Tomorrow I'll be leaving on a jet plane! Can't wait to meet you outside the Northwest Baggage Claim area. Will be wearing white jeans and shirt, with a long sleeved dark purple shirt (tend to get cold on planes). What kind of vehicle should I be looking for? Flight NW5798 should be arriving at 4:20, just in time for 5:00 happy hour! Look out Kansas City, here we come!
I have a 2004 brown Ford Taurus. We'll be waiting for you at the Northwest baggage claim. That'll be easier than driving around and around, I'm thinking. Unless you and Cool chat later and come up with something else...
I always park my car and pick up folks at the baggage claim area. Then we just have to find our way to the car, which has been pretty easy each time I've done it here at MCI, It's a very simple airport to get around, in my experience.
Ha ha, I had figured on dinner out two nights, and just read you said you'd like to eat out one night, for steak - would you prefer we bring dinner tomorrow or are you game for the buffet at the casino right after we pick you up?
I'm flexible. I'm left-handed and I'm flexible.
Can't wait to get GGGW with you ladies!
Turns out my daughter has a birthday party to attend Saturday and has been invited to stay the weekend! Praise God!
Suda and Bow art at MCI now. Suda's flight leaves at 5:30pm Central time...so she'll probably board in a couple of hours.
I gotta tell y'all, meeting these ladies face-to-face and having such a grand time has been absolutely marvelous!
The only plans we had made were to have a room together and have dinner Saturday night at Kansas City's Savoy Grill. Beyond that, we just wanted to enjoy one another's company. In fact, we figured we'd take all our other meals at the hotel.
Well, Saturday afternoon came and we were hungry...so we went down for lunch at the hotel's restaurant...but they were closed until dinner! Waaaaaaaaaaah!
But I need never have feared, the GGGW gals were there! Suda and Bow got hold of a list of places within a few blocks of the hotel.
Suda found the perfect place for lunch! When she pointed out the place on the list, both Bow and I had such an uproarious response that everybody in the lobby gave us looks...which made us guffaw even more! LMAO!
I cannot express just how perfect Suda's selection was without the pictures, so I will have to wait. Those of you 'in the know' will pee your pants laughing for a week when you see just how good Suda did! LMAO!
We stayed at lunch so long that we nearly ran right into our dinner reservations...so we had make our reservations for later.
In the meantime, Suda and Bow are such gracious women that they were tickled to allow me to play tour guide to my Kansas City. Having grown up here, I was just as tickled to show these wonderful women my Kansas City!
Again, I cannot do justice to the tour without the pics, so I will have to wait for this, too.
Suffice it to say, for now at least, it was a great time!
It was 100 degrees out, though! So we headed back to the hotel to cool off and clean up a bit for dinner.
Since Bow and I had gone to the Savoy just a few days beforehand to make sure it was the Savoy I remembered from my youth, I knew exactly what I wanted for dinner...and, mmmmmmmmmmmm! It was all I thought it would be!
Again...gotta have the pics to express the experience fully.
(Honestly...I'm not trying to be coy or anything...it's just that Bow is such a great picture taker and has such a great eye for the perfect picture, the whole experience is not the same without the pictures. And Suda is so unbelievably comfortable in her own skin that it just takes a picture to fully express her! Me...well...a picture's worth a 1000 words...hehehe. )
I think Suda has 3 of my lighters, too. She warned me that she's a lighter thief. I didn't believe her until I got home and couldn't light a cigarette without using my souvenir matches from the Savoy! LMAO! (Oh...Bow, Suda...not those matches...NO WAY would I take one spark from that matchbook. Hehehehe!)
Since I know the area, I played navigator. As when me, Bow and her daughter were out and about in downtown KCMO, I got so involved with the conversation and the hoots and the guffaws and the music that I forgot to navigate several times. What a riot! I did get to show off a couple of extra points of interest, though, so all was not insane...I don't think...but I can't be sure...you'd have to ask the other girls...
All in all, I ended up wanting to keep these wonderful gals. They tried to explain to me that I can't keep people like one would keep pets. I just don't understand. Sigh. :D
So Suda will be on her way home in a couple of hours and Bow should be home in a couple of hours after that. Until then, here's a little hint of what's to come...
What can I say? GGGW was a great weekend! The Temptations were playing across the street from where we stayed and I'm sure we had a better time than if we had gone to their show!
Coolwaters is a wonderful tour guide and showed us wonderful sights, sounds and smells all around Kansas City. What an awesome city and fantastic history! Like everywhere else in America this time of year, construction was almost epidemic! We had a full tank of gas, a pretty good selection of cd's and enough estrogen to power a steamboat! Oh, the fun we had!
Kansas City is known as the city of fountains. Oh man, the beautiful fountains everywhere. I couldn't decide which was my favorite until we came to the one where there had to be 150 people in bathing suits or not, running through the fountain - that's what it's there for!
The shops, coffee houses and bars were exceedingly abundant above all that I could ask or think, so help me God! If we had a month, we probably wouldn't have eaten the same place twice. Too many choices!
We have proof that it was 100 degrees and proof of a few other things. I know, you'd rather see the pictures already, wish I would hush.
I see you noticed the lighter. What you couldn't know is that I don't smoke! LOL
Three GSers that really should've been there will be receiving gifts in the mail this week from the GGGW. We surely didn't mean to exclude anyone deserving, but we only had so many...
Can you believe Suda found THAT restaurant for THIS bunch?
Dmiller - Oh yeah, you got it. And hey, where were you and whitedove? We had a hunnert dollar bills waiting and ready to give you one at a time - LOL
Oh yeah, Coolwaters' hubby called her yesterday on the phone and for some reason I thought it was whitedove she was speaking with. When she answered the hotel room phone, she said some very clever ditty that she just made up right that minute. She spoke a bit, handed me the phone and I said, "Hello Mellow Fellow, Would You Like Some Yellow Jello?" Ha ha, he must have thought I was nuts and there his wife was stuck with me for the weekend!
Yes, we have more pics, but it'll be an hour or so before we get more posted after this next batch. I had trouble with my laptop or we'd have posted them sooner.
The waitresses were as stoked about our weekend as we were and did all they could to make our stay more fun. The one at the Q even suggested she would like to take a pic of us behind the bar. Who were we to argue wtih a fun idea?
Oh yeah, for those of you waiting to see how this came out, start saving your pennies for next year. It's definitely worth it! (For the awesome food, alone - LOL)

Kansas City
I'm going to Kansas City,
Kansas City here I come
I'm going to Kansas City,
Kansas City here I come
They got a crazy way of loving there
And I'm gonna get me some.
I'll be standing on the corner
On the corner of Twelfth Street and Vine
I'm gonna be standing on the corner
On the corner of Twelfth Street and Vine
With my Kansas City baby
And a bottle of Kansas City wine.
Well I might take a train, I might take a plane,
but if I have to walk
I'm gonna get there just the same
I'm going to Kansas City,
Kansas City here I come
They got a crazy way of loving there
And I'm gonna get me some.
I'm gonna pack my clothes
Leave at the break of dawn
I'm gonna pack my clothes
Everybody will be sleeping
Nobody will know where I've gone
Cause if I stay in town I know I'm gonna die.
Gotta find a friendly city
And that's the reason why,
I'm going to Kansas City
Kansas City here I come
They got a crazy way of loving there
And I'm gonna get me some.
