  2. "Hi! I'm your Cruise Director, Julie McCoy!" George
  3. I had to get that out of my system before I could even focus on the next round. It was bugging me.
  4. Today
  5. That's it. J.J. was obsesses with Kool-Aid, and Walker's catch phrase followed him in- "Dy-no-mite!" Michael was studying to be a lawyer, and was in the "Lawyers of Tomorrow" program or something. This did nothing to help when something happened and he was arrested. (I forget why.) The desk sergeant introduced a dose of reality to the situation by finding it irrelevant in getting Michael out of a jail cell. (Probably very accurate for desk sergeants.) Your turn!
  6. "Are you crazy? A man in a really nice camper wants to put our song on the radio. Gimme a pen. I'm signing. You're signing. We're all signing."
  7. The extra hint didn't help, but I'm just going off Streisand movies (only one of which I recall ever seeing). It's either The Mirror Has Two Faces or Prince of Tides. I have an ex girlfriend who was an extra in one of the classroom scenes in Mirror. It wasn't sad. Prince of Tides. Final answer.
  8. I think I was thinking about the sequel. It's possible I added names from the original. You're up. George
  9. When this movie came out, everyone told me "It really makes you think." That is the LAST thing I want in a movie, so I haven't seen it. Action? Yes. Comedy? Yes. Sex? Yes. But "thinking"? No. This is Chrissy Metz's (whoever THAT is) fifth saddest movie of all time. For her role in this film, the star became the one and only Best Actress Oscar winner to produce and direct a Best Picture nominated film. (Taken from IMDb, this statement is awkwardly phrased. The actress won Best Actress for a different film. Though nominated for several, including Best Picture, this movie garnered no Oscars.) One of the main characters is a world class violinist. The actor portraying him did not play violin but watched two professionals perform the piece he would play in the film. Then he "finger-synched" the piece almost perfectly. A week after this movie opened wide in North America on Christmas of 1991, the star phoned a Columbia Pictures executive at 7:00 A.M. New Year's Day demanding that a hedge on Sunset Blvd needed trimming. It wasn't blocking the film title but obscuring her "Directed by" credit on the billboard. Chris O'Donnell, who would soon become a star in Scent of a Woman, won the role of the star's teenage son, Bernard, but Pat Conroy didn't think he was right. Looking through photos of other young actors, he picked one out, telling the star that she should hire him instead. The actor was the star's own son. It's about dealing with suicide. George
  10. Judge Reinhold Fast Times at Ridgemont High Forest Whitaker George
  11. My bad, I didn't pay enough attention. I don't think you're the same person. But then, I was just asking a question.
  12. "Michael's going to be a Lawyer of Tomorrow!" "Oh? Well, welcome to the slammer of today!" "Water? She ain't drinkin' nothin' but the best from now on... Kool-Aid!" "DY- NO- MITE!"
  13. I just checked Imdb. They have Steve Carell listed, Fred Willard, Seth Rogen, Ben Stiller, Kathryn Hahn, Will Ferrell, Danny Trejo, and Christina Applegate, but NOT Harrison Ford nor Kristen Wiig. How confident are you that they were in this movie? *checks* Those two were in the sequel, apparently, but Ben Stiller and Danny Trejo weren't at the least.
  14. I have no idea what movie this is. That comment about a star so narcissistic she (we know it's a she) made that phone call makes me think of Barbra Streisand. She has to have an ego big enough to inspire the Streisand Effect, and be big enough she had the phone# of the executive...and maybe to think someone wouldn't just hang up on her with that phone call. If not Streisand, some woman with as big an ego, and that narrows the possibilities considerably. So, I'm thinking Streisand. But that's all I've got. Oh- if I'm right, and Raf came to the same conclusion, then he's thinking it's not "Yentl", and I agree it's not that film.
  15. Hey, wait, I know this one! the Princess Diaries Hector Elizondo Beverly Hills Cop 3
  16. I figured maybe Flushing Meadows because of the hype, but I'm just going to say, Madison Square Garden. 1974?
  17. I remember to this day, the bright red Georgia clay How it stuck to the tires after the summer rain Will power made that old car go, a woman's mind told me that it's so Oh, how I wish we were back on the road again I can still recall the wheat fields of St. Paul And the mornin' we got caught robbin' from an old hen Old Mac Donald made us work, but then he paid us for what it was worth Another tank of gas and back on the road again I'll never forget that day we motored stately into big L.A. The lights of the city put settlin' down in my brain Though it's only been a month or so, that old car's buggin' us to go You gotta get away and get back on the road again

  19. Preparation for the Burial of “Pre-trib”: Decorating the Gravesite with Christ’s Gospel Precedent and the Revelation of the Mystery for the Church, “Christ in you, the Hope of Glory” Christ’s Gospel Precedent: Quoting the Prophets’ Prophecies 1. Why did Christ quote Isaiah 61:1, 2a in Luke 4:18, 19? And why did Christ stop at 61:2a? Why didn’t Christ read Isaiah 61:2b? 2.Why did Christ quote Daniel in Matthew 24:15? 3.Is it possible Christ set a precedent during His ministry on Earth (quoting the prophets’ prophecies)—which He continued from the right hand of God when He gave revelation of the mystery to His apostles, directing them to quote the prophets’ prophecies? If you know the answers to these 3 questions, then you know Christ’s Gospel Precedent—which, when applied from Acts to Revelation, reveals the Revelation of the Mystery for the Church, “Christ in you, the Hope of Glory.” And you too will look forward to the burial of “pre-trib” on Friday. I'll be back to finish decorating the gravesite mid-week. Peace. revvel

  23. 1) oldiesman started the thread, and had the opening post. You can tell it wasn't me, because it was heavy on the AI content. 2) If, for some reason, someone thinks me and oldies are the same person, we're not. There's still a few people who've met us both (like Raf) and there was a time on this board, long ago, where we tended to be diametrically opposed on many threads, almost to the point of a fist fight. (Had we been in a bar or something, I was sure at least once it would have escalated to the alley outside.) We still disagree on quite a bit, but not to that degree. 3) Actually addressing the question, Although not an official Harvest Festival, I think that the State Fair or County Fair practiced in a number of places acts as a de facto Harvest Festival. The traditional events include judging produce (like pumpkins) and livestock (like hogs) and contests like pie eating and so on. I know the one in Texas, at least, is in early October- possibly to avoid conflicting with Thanksgiving, and with Halloween. But for a place not dependent upon a harvest, it's pretty close to a harvest time. If it's a coincidence, it's an interesting one.
