  1. Dovey, For the most part you do not need a website in order to post a picture. Take Rottiegrrl for instance, the fireworks she is using she found on another website. She then looked at the properties of that picture to find its address and then inserted it into her post. so the picture in her post is actually on someone elses website. The ONLY reason someone would need there own website is if they changed the picture in some way and needed to save it some place. I wouldn't concern yourself with this part at this time. If I am understanding you correctly, you want to have fireworks like Rottie. She has a thread that she started that she did a lot of the hard part by searching the web and placing them in one convienant place for you. Find a picture that you like (either in Rottie's thread or someplace on the web) and follow the instructions from above on 1. finding the address of the picture by right clicking and looking at the properties. 2. adding a picture to your post. If this is still confusing, I'll help walk you though it, but you need to be able to tell me where the picture is that you want to use. It's like riding a bike, once you learn it, you won't forget it and it's fun. JSN
  2. http://www.hahapages.com/pics/firefart.jpg try this URL Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  3. Ok, there is nothing wrong with the address itself. some times website have a way of keeping people from using there pictures without paying for them. this may be the issue. Or it could just be that website there is having problems, I went there and certain pictures wouldn't show in thier on site. try another website
  4. One last piece of info. on your post next to the date you should see 3 folders. the 2nd one allows you to edit a previous post. this way if the fist try doesn't work then you can edit it instead of replying again. Just FYI Have fun with your new talent. ps. sorry everyone if I armed Vickles with a dangerous new toy. LOL
  5. Practice makes perfect. the test thread is a great place to play around with this before posting the final in a thread. See you did it, I knew you could. Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  6. :D-->YAHOO!!! :D--> Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  7. ok there are 2 ways to do this. 1. forget about all the picture buttons and just type it in the way I instructed right into the box 2. use the image button(has green lanscape). click it and when it asks for url just put in the web address with out the IMG or /IMG tags. It will do it for you. My instructions were for doing it yourself not using the buttons at the top, so you could understand what's going on behind the scene. if you choose option 2 go back and edit your post and you will see that it put the tags in for you. Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  8. ok 1. take out the scr= 2. no space between the tag and http 3. closing tag needs / [/img] IMGhttp://www.wmonline.com/graphics/homep/newhome/360.jpg/IMG (remeber your brackets [ ] around IMG and /IMG
  9. By the way not all jpg's or images have numbers in there name, that just happened to be what Steve's avatar was named. Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  10. right click on any picture and left click on properties and the entire web address(URL) will be listed there. Remember to right click ON the the picture itself. ps. a couple of your previous attemps were right on except they ended in .htm which meant you were trying to import the entire page instead of the image itself. Keep trying, you'll get it. Your almost there now. Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  11. HTML 101 HTML: Hyper Text Markup Language You can use HTML to design Web pages. It is a simple yet powerful language made up of tags. Tags are codes that you insert into your text to design the elements of your Web page. (For our use it enhances our posts). For example, to designate that an image should appear on your page (or in your post), you enter a tag before and after the location of the image. IMAGES Let?s take a look at images for a moment. An image, picture, graphic or animation has a file type (3 letter extension at the end of the file name). This will make it easier to identify. Examples of image file types are .jpg, .gif, .png, .jpeg, .tif, .tiff and there are many others. The two most common types of images that are used on the web, because of there relatively small file size, which helps them load faster, are .JPG and .GIF. URL In order to do anything with the images we must place the file in a place that is accessible on the web. To keep this simple and as brief as possible the image needs to be stored on someone?s website. Imagine if you will mailing a letter to a friend. In order for the letter to reach your friend you need to be able to tell the postman where it is. You may need to tell them the country, then the state, city, street and the house that person lives in. Oh, most important, finally we need to tell them the name of the friend. A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is the address, if you will, of the image in this case that we are looking for. Just as a letter has necessary components (name, street, city, state, zip, country) in order to reach its destination so also does a Web Address (URL) There are 4 main components that MUST be included in any Web Address (URL) when using HTML coding. Example: http://www.gscafe.com 1. http:// - Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is a protocol or the way computers send information to each other. 2. www. ? this says that the site is located on the world wide web(as time goes by this is more optional) 3. gscafe - This is the name of the company or sever 4. .com - this tells us that it is a commercial institution(or at least that was what it?s original intent was) Anything that follows this is just the path to get to the particular file. (Kind of like telling the postman directions to your friend?s bedroom) ex. http://www.gscafe.com/infopop/avatars1/ The only thing left is to make sure your friend (pictureoffriend.jpg) is in the room. http://www.gscafe.com/infopop/avatars1/75.jpg in this case we?ll use Steve TAGS NOW let?s bring all this together so we can import an image into our post. In order to post a picture we much use HTML coding called tags . At this time the only tag we?re interested in is the image tag which looks like this: (All image tags start with IMG between square brackets[ ] and end with /IMG between square brackets [ ] ) so to post Steve?s avatar we need to know the name of the image ( 75.jpg) and it?s location on the web (http://www.gscafe.com/infopop/avatars1) . Then to put it into our post we place the address inside an image tag IMGhttp://www.gscafe.com/infopop/avatars1/75.jpg/IMG (place brackets [ ] around both IMG at the beginning and /IMG at the end. Do not use any spaces ) NOTE: if you have a picture on your computer that you want to use then it needs to be stored on someones web site in order to be used. I hope this helps.
