  1. Raf, The pic is pointing to http://www.livingepistlessociety.org/ And the link Raf is pointing to http://www.rafaelolmeda.com/ Since the pic is pointing to livingepistlessociety web page, that may be why it's not showing up. The url needs to redirect to an actual image file. Hope that helps JSN Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  2. Go to WHITEPAGES.COM and do a search under her husband Ellie Allen in Creedmoor, NC. Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  3. Well, with out being in front of it and not knowing what you are doing each time it happens and not knowing what the error message actualy says makes it real tough to troubleshoot. if you could give more info on it, if it does it at a certain time or when you use a certain program, it would help us help you. There is a pattern to it, it may not be that evident, but that will help determine why it is doing it. Then it cann be corrected. Just guessing, my first question would be are you on dial-up or high speed? If you are on high speed then did you switch over to it from dial-up since getting the computer? If the answer is yes then it would be a program trying to access the modem which would no longer being used OR you still have the moden set up as a default location in Inernet Explorer for connecting to the Internet. Again I'm guessing at when this happens. Another time a port issue occurs is when trying to print if you've switched printers and did not remove the driver for the old one. All in all, we need more info. If there is a number assosiated with the error message that would be extremely helpful. 4. Paw, would have to add a delete button and/or check box next to the topics with a submit button. Or maybe you request Paw to delete them for you. I don't know what options he has with the forum program itself, but it would be to his benefit if people could delete there own private topics. Good question. 5. Rottie, I got one for you to work on and then to share while I'm away. Animated picture on your desktop. I have Windows XP, depending on what you have it may be slightly different. We'll use Dovey's fireworks as our example. Right click on the picture Left click on Save Picture As(older versions might be just Save As) Save it to where ever you keep pictures on your own computer ie. My Documents Close everything out until your back to your desktop. right click on your desktop anywhere that is not over an icon. left click properties and the Display Properties box should pop up. Click on the Desktop tab at the top. Click on the Browse button Find the picture you just saved and then click open. Click on position and choose a setting Center,Stretch or Tile Click Apply to preview it and then either modify the position or click OK when done. You should now have an animated picture on your desktop. JSN
  6. Dovey, Not sure about the wallpaper. If you want we'll work on that later when I get back. Brief reminders to help you practice. 1. All images are put between the tags 2b. To find the url of any image do the following. A. right click ON (IMPORTANT) any picture B. left click properties (a grey box should pop up with information about the image) C. About the 3rd line down is the URL address. That is where the picture is located on the web. Copy it & paste it between your image tags. = start image tag URL= tells path or where to find the image(http://blahblah.com/image.GIForJPG) ' alt='>'>= End Image tag Have fun see ya all. JSN ps. What i've been showing you is the way to do it completely yourself so that you understand it. However there is a button that you can use to save a little time. If you choose to use the image button in the reply box (looks like a green and white button) then put the URL ONLY in the drop down box, It will add the IMG /IMG tags for you. 8. By the way Dovey, The big question is can you do it again if you need to. My job is only done when you say yes. That's my goal in this, to teach others so they can do it themselves. 15. Dovey, almost. you just forgot the ] at the end of /IMG Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  16. Rottie, Thanks for the input. being still involved with TWI I am not comfortable with sending email at this time and more importantly I'm not looking to do for people, I want to help instruct so that people can do it for themselves. I know it takes longer, but the end result is someone that can do it for themselves. This is why I'm spending time on URL's, Tags and File types, to show the structure behind it. Once this is understood then it becomes much easier to show other things that people do in there posts. And if for no other reason, I'm patient to walk through it. Again, thanks for the help. 17. Dovey, This is what your hotdog looks like when resized Are you still interested in this as an avatar Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  18. Dovey, Take the space out at the end of the tag between / img let me work on hotdog and see if I can shrink it without losing quality. I'll get back to you on that Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  19. Dovey, Oh, I thought you said weiner dog Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  20. Dovey, Regarding wieny dogs, when I am looking for images the first place I start is at http://www.altavista.com/image/default and do a search for the image I'm looking for Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  21. Dovey IMGhttp://www.wtv-zone.com/gerzpages/fourth/fwlib10.gif/IMG Copy the line above and put it into your signature. Then put [ ] around both IMG and /IMG without any spaces. the reason I'm not doing it now is if I did all you would see is the picture. Good job on wanting to put it into your signature, this way you don't have to do it each time. Some day I'll live up to my name - until then I'll pop out from the 'leaves' once in awhile until I learn to JustSayNO.
  22. Hey Rottiegrrl; Thanks for the offer and I think that might be useful in the future when it comes to sizing and storing an avatar. But a website it is not needed for adding an image to the signature or into the body of apost unless like your puppy it has been custom made and sized. for example all the fireworks only require the IMG tag and the URL to it's website location, because they are already being stored on the web in someone elses website, we are just redirecting it here. I'm trying to take baby steps and keep it as uncomplicated and as simple as possible until a basic undertanding is achieved, then we can expand and have more fun. Vickles, there are 2 ways to add a pic to the bottom of your post. 1. The Hard way. Add the image at the end of each post EVERY time. 2. Easy way. Add the code to your siganture in your profile ONCE. You will not be able to use the image button for this. You will have to write out the code like I showed you before using the IMG and the /IMG tags.(see previous post for full instructions) JSN [This message was edited by JustSayNO on June 25, 2003 at 0:29.]
  23. Hi Dovey, Let's see if we can walk you through this. I think the way I'm going to do this is step by step and wait until you understand a point before going on. So first is to answer 2 questions you have. 1. Using your own pictures on your computer. To keep it brief you can't use yours unless you have a website to store them on. So, the only way you can use your pictures at this point is to send them to someone who has a website to store them on. 2. What is an URL? The full version is in a previous post on this thread. But to take it back to basics, URL is another name for a web address (Ex. msn.com, gscafe.com. aol.com)(what you see in your address bar at the top of your browser that starts with http://) Now, let's take it a step further. Every page on a website is a file (which generally ends in .htm or.html). Now, every image used on the web is a file (most common types are .jpg and .Gif) When we put images in our posts, we are not actually putting the file in our post like we would attach a file to an email. Instead all we are doing is redirecting the picture that is stored somewhere on the Web to show itself in OUR post. That is why URLs or web addresses are important. for the most part we search the web for the picture we want and redirect the image to our post(not exctly, but close enough). Ok, let me know if you understand this or not and we'll go from there. Once it clicks, it's as easy as pie. JSN
  24. Are you asking permission to use it or are you asking how to insert it into your post. if you asking about how to do it i have posted instructions in the "add a pic or attach" thread.
