  1. Preposterous statement...although I am sure you believe it. Freedom has a price and sometimes the price is very high. We have liberated over 40 million people from oppression, terror, and tyranny. Our kids have died since "that statement" because there are still evil people there and, until they are eradicated, there will be deaths. Unlike our cowardly extraction from Vietnam, which resulted in over 2,000,000 people being exterminated, we must prevail until the new Iraqi government can stand on its own feet and secure the country. Which won't be long.
  2. We mainly lurk here because we still have close family members who are in and want to look for nuggets of information about what is happening and to look for any advice/opportunities on getting them out before it is too late.
  3. Please don't precede his name with Rev. He is no more a man of God or a Reverand than saddam hossein or jim jones or al sharpton. I look forward to the day when lcm gets his due.
  4. The Pope was revered and respected by billions, and it is perfectly natural for many to pilgrim to Rome to pay respects. Imagine if LCM would have croaked while you were in the way - and HQ said we want all our followers to come to New Knoxville to pay respects to our great leader - 90% of you would have gone - guarantee it. With the Pope, no one is demanding that the pilgrims come - they come out of respect for the man and the leader of their church. What I don't understand are the nimrods in LA standing in line 4 MONTHS before the latest Star Wars movie opens (at another theater).
  5. Galen, The World Trade Organization (WTO) is not (was not) located at the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York. Two totally different organizations. The "war" as you call it was not against those in the World Trade Center, but rather it is part of a larger war against America and Christianity. The WTC represented capitalism, thus was a target; just as the Pentagon was a target because of what it represents. If you get your perspective on world affairs from episodes of The West (left) Wing you will surely have difficulty understanding much of what goes on in the world. If you want to see the face of the enemy, go to Michael Savage's website and watch the videos of the radical muslims beheading Americans and others. Have a VERY strong stomach, but these should be required viewing for every American.
  6. Outofdafog, Of course there is history and custom and even law of the spouse having guardianship and decisionmaking. But, when does a spouse no longer become a spouse - having a common law wife with children? Yes, you may say a divorce is the only thing that would preclude it, but Terri had not choice in that either. Based on What I've heard from her friends and from some of the people that took care of her, if she would have regained consciousness she would have said, "Get that dirtbag out of my life" even before she would have said "Let me live (or let me die)."
  7. Long Gone, You know we could argue this all day and night and all year. I only know what I have heard and read (the court records and affadavits) and you only know what you heard and read. No one is intentionally lying. My only point was that there are far too many unanswered questions, particularly about the "husband."
  8. Belle, I found that michael schiavo, through his actions, did a sufficient job of demonizing himself - right down to the point of not allowing Terri's brother and sister present when she died. I am less concerned about politicians being involved than I am the reckless judges currently running rampant in this country. Yes, some politicians were in this for the publicity, but some were truly fighting this fight because they saw the slippery slope that we are now on.
  9. Long Gone, You are so wrong. We don't know what her wishes were. Her "husband" did not say that her wishes were to die under these circumstances until 7 years after the "incident." He should have given up his rights as guardian when he began living with another woman and conceiving children. She did not have a heart attack (check the records) and there are sufficient questions about her getting to this condition that an investigation was warranted. Terri Schiavo did NOT have a terminal illness; she only needed a feeding tube to live. Yes, she most likely, barring a miracle, would not have recovered. But, keep in mind that from the beginning michael schiavo would NOT ALLOW ANY THERAPY, including speech therapy or movement therapy. These are NOT lies or distortions - check the records and check the sworn affadavits of her friends and some of those who cared for her. I have no doubt that he was hiding something (she has very suspicious broken bones). There will be a very special place for this dirtball and those how allowed this to happen.
  10. Thanks for the great ideas! Since we left twi we have slowly gotten back our relationship with our kid. It has taken time, wisdom, and acceptance. The thing we have been trying to do is much of what all of you have said although we haven't gotten into too many confrontations. We let them know where we stand with God and give advice when asked and tell them what to consider. It is encouraging to hear that the leadership at gunnison may be the ones that push them over the edge. They have good hearts and I think when they see the signs they will recognize them when it is in their face. It took a long time for them to want to hear why we left and if things are still the same, which I'm sure they are, they will be able to put the pieces together. You guys (and gals) are great...we've been on the site many times over the years but haven't been involved. We'll keep you posted!
  11. Thanks to everyone for the input on our situation. Really appreciate everyone's concerns. We will use wisdom and do everything to keep the lines of communication open. We have decided not to provide any financial support. I also agree that we need to be there to provide an "out" when the time comes. Surely the rigors and control that will multiply when they are in WC will give them second thoughts.
  12. We've just learned that some close relatives (husband/wife) are giving up their budding careers and going Way Corps. What is Way Corps like these days? Any suggestions on how we can convince them of the folly of their decision. We've been out for 10+ years and don't know a lot about what's going on. Thanks for any info.
