  1. Dot, the Atkins diet works mostly for those who have type O blood. They are the meat eaters of the world anyway. Go to Yahoo or Google and type in 'blood type diet' and look for the site by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo. It has to do with the right foods for YOUR blood type. It is very informative. It will help you lose weight and not be hungry because you are eating food that is right for you. He also has a few books. I checked out "Eat right for your type" from the library but bought "Cook right for your type" so I could have the recipes. My husband lost weight w/o trying when he ate what he was supposed to. Let me know what you think. Becky
  2. ChattyKathy, my husband has been listening to the Gr.Ole Opry for about 46 years. (He had a transistor radio that he listened on when he was young!!!) We even got backstage about 10 years ago and got pictures with Bill Monroe, Little Jimmy Dickens, Wilma Lee, and VINCE GILL. A lady named Patsy or Patty I think got us backstage. She used to repair sequins, etc. for the entertainers. She had returned a pair of boots to one of the Osburne brothers that nite. We had so much fun backstage. Can you give any info on your family who played there? If not, I understand. I do enjoy your posts.
  3. I saw Brian Bliss and Lou Vuto perform Saturday nite. It was great. I was able to visit with Lou after the show but Brian left before I could say hello. We went to the Smokies for a few days and enjoyed it immensely. Keep up this thread, it is chock full of memories, stories, wonderful songs, etc. Thanks to all of you who have stirred up memories for me that have long been forgotten or suppressed!!!! 4. Now you are into my era. the 70's. I grad. high school 1974, took piffle 1975, went WOW 76-76, then again 77-78. I missed some of the music since we werent supposed to be "natural man". But what about Marshall Tucker Band, Bad Company, Jethro Tull, Eagles, Rod Stewart (Ted already mentioned him), my mind is going blank!!!!! I would love to know the story of Way Prod. also Ted. By the way, Jason D. Williams, Bill Haney, T.G. Shepard, and Ronnie McDowell performed at George Klein's charity benefit at Elvis Presley's Memphis restaurant Sunday nite....it was great. I had my pic taken with wild man, Jason D. Williams. Keep this thread going folks. It is great.
  5. I agree with you Grizzy on the parent thing. Parents who love their children and teach them the best they know how mostly IMO have children who grow up to be good citizens and are good to their parents later in life. We couldnt hardly have the radio or stereo on in our home, growing up. Therefore, IMO, I dont care for a whole lot of noise (be it music, TV, lots of people talking, etc.). I think our childhood has lots to do with our adult life, be it music, employment, good or bad credit, going to church or something similar, and on and on. When you are raised properly, those standards will pay off in the long run. I was a teenager in the 70's and listened to Rod Stewart, Eagles, Leonard Skinnard (sp), Rolling Stones, Bad Company, Marshall Tucker Band, Steve Miller Band, etc. I knew when words in songs spoke of things that were wrong according to my upbringing. I made the choice to listen and DO what they said, or to say NO! BUT I had been TAUGHT the truth by parents who loved me.
  6. Great points Ted. Tell us more from the 40's and on.... I certainly have fond memories of your many performances in the 70's etc.....
  7. If you come thru Memphis on I40, stop at the Cracker Barrel in W.Memphis, AR, our business is 2 blocks from I 40, we will give you a FREE car wash just for stopping by....tues thru saturday. If you ask Judy or Carla at Cracker Barrel where the car wash is, they will tell you. We can take in some blues on Beale Street after work and eat some famous Memphis barbeque... we also have veggies!!!! Maybe Sudo and family would join us.... dont know them yet but who knows. Whatever you do, have a safe trip and have fun.
  8. Wayferlooking, I felt lost for a long time after I left twi 7 years ago. I missed the believers from my area and I felt that I had let God down, I guess. I still miss the fellowship with believers, but have been so hurt by people that I have shared hearts with for so many years wouldnt even call me or see me. But like so many posters have said, people that they have met in church or in other places have treated them with more respect and love than they ever received at twi. This past Mother's Day, I went to church where I grew up, along with most of my family. It had been 35 yrs since I had been in that Baptist church. But the preacher was right on in what he taught and we were all 'blessed'!!!!! It is not the end of the world out here 'in the real world'. In fact, God has prospered my life more since I left twi than ever in my life. So who is the fool or the one being fooled????? Keep searching for the answers and dont be afraid to take that giant leap out of twi.....you wont regret it for a minute......
  9. Oakspear, thank you so much for sharing your life with us. I know it has not been an easy road. My life before and after twi has been much easier than yours; I am thankful to God for that for my sake but am so sorry for the things that you have endured. Hold your head up and things are going to get better......You have alot of people here at GS on your side.
  10. Thanks for the quick reply. Good to 'see' you again.
  11. I will email you and put Jay and Marj in the subject so you will know it is from me. Thanks so much for your post.
  12. Thanks. I will check out the white pages for Denver. Who is Dande, chinson?
  13. I am looking for jay and marj wilson. Last known address was colorado springs, co. in late 80's, I think. (Marj's brother is Mark Carli who is a counselor in Ohio.) They were my tc and were a wonderful couple. They had a couple of kids the last I heard. Thanks for any input.
  14. I am not leaving. I just got accepted into the gscafe recently. If I do decide to leave though, I will just not sign back on...makes sense to me. But we are not ALL ALIKE are we? That makes the world go 'round.
  15. Thanks, Steve. I found the friend tracker RIGHT AFTER i posted...oh well....live and learn, isnt that what we have been doing for a LONG TIME??!!
  16. Hey folks. I am new to the gs cafe. Please forgive my ignorance. Mr. P was my bc in memphis when I left. I read on a thread that he was no longer on bot. Does anyone know where he is now? Actually, Harve was alrdy gone when I left...Mitch T. was the BC... I left in 94 after spending 19 years in twi, wow twice, ac, etc. Also, I sponsored Evon Priddy in 6th corps for 3 years. Last I heard she was in Atlanta area. I went to her wedding in 1988 or thereabout. Any one know where she is? Edited to correct info... [This message was edited by act2 on June 06, 2003 at 16:18.]
