To each project there is a learning curve, that learning curve pushed us in the direction of doing 12-week meat birds, then they go to freezer camp. For 12-weeks each year we maintain chickens, and that gives us enough chicken to eat for a year.

Since we live in dense forest, the predators are fierce. We have tried many times to allow chickens to free-range, but those efforts have never been successful. We can keep poultry inside coops just fine, but if they get out, it attracts predators and once that happens the predators hit so hard that they dig tunnels under the coops, they chew holes through the chicken wire to gain access into the coops, and they become relentless until after all chickens have been eaten. It is less work to just raise chickens for a short period of time and send them to the freezers. 

 

We have done much better raising pigs.

 

I would free range the chickens in the day and lock them up at night.  Hens of course.  Fresh eggs are nice.  Plus they tend to hunt ticks to practical extinction..

Commitment to witness 48 hours a week?  I dunno.  My wow brother.  He met his soul mate here.. and the (expletives that will be deleted) decided his "commitment" superseded  Gods Will.. tried to dump her in the middle of the year, to "move the word"  I raised Holy Hell.  They got back together towards the end of the year..

I can't say that I ever actually met him.  Maybe I met the persona a couple of times..  perhaps his legacy is a few off the beaten path books that I do not have in my library.

Dead Cult Leaders, hmmmm.  Well, I supposed they are supposed to be like the last few Jedi, just dissolve into the Force, no final expenses incurred by the followers.  No burial or cremation necessary.  No memorial either.

Good For You.  All I run at the moment from Solar are the radios and the lights.  Do you have chickens? 

Galen, you are living my dream of dreams..  I would move off to the woods, grow tomatos and raise chickens in a heartbeat.  Run the radios and such from solar panels..

So after a few years Hiatus here.  How IS Mr ? Geer?  Still languishing away at the bottom of a missle silo in Gawd only knows what Gawd forsaken country on the Western Front..  drinking Drambuie and consuming Pickeled Pigs Feet.. planning some Unnatural return from the Grave.. anything really new here?

I like Ken Kesey's take on abortion.  Too many regrets if you choose that path..

Interesting topic though.  We claimed abortion was not murder.  But when it came to my second child, unplanned.. at that moment, I felt that abortion would be murder.  Abortion was not even an option.  TWI's stance just kind of melted away like butter on a hot stove on a warm day..

I have been instructing math classes for the last 12 years.

Still a Ham Radio operator, callsign KB8PGW.. but always getting involved in new activities.  The newest is Traffic Handling.  I pick up messages via radio from a digital board and deliver them the last mile to recipients.  And relay outgoing messages to the National Traffic System.  Still get involved in contests and Field Day.  Still construct radio projects by hand..

Net Control operator for QMN, the Michigan Traffic Net.  Nice bunch of people there.  I will get to meet them in a couple of weeks at the annual picnic.

What else. 

I loved Real Analysis, but it was the bane of my existence (stunk at it).  It's taken me over ten years to figure a lot of it out.. I said once if the light really came on with Real Analysis I'd go back for the doctorate.. we will see about that.

Still live in a town of otherwise nice people, they are pretty anti social.  My best friend here is the cat of the residence, Samantha.

Now have seven grandchildren.  Six boys, one girl.

Still believe in a God.. despite the world's best or worst efforts..

Exercise the best that I can.   Getting older, problems with one knee.. but keep moving the best that I can.

Glad to see you all again here.  Among the x wayvers here, some have taken the opposite opinion.  I was recently accused of being a Fetus Killer, only because I agreed to pay my share fair of taxes.. how the pendulum swings..

Victims or Opressors... maybe a little bit of both.

Businessmen, or more properly crooks, running a church like a business.. conning and being conned.

Some of them came out of the corps as pretty darned ruthless.. coniving.. contract and promise breakers.. generally, try to pay you half (or even less) of what something was worth.

Trade their spirituality for a pot of beans..

Many were cheap sonsabitches. Always arguing about the price..

Probably because of what was done to them. Many sold businesses, abandoned careers for this supposed higher calling, only to find the rules and objectives constantly change.

Mrs. Owen wrote in "Just the Way It Was" (I think that's the name, I tossed my copy out years ago) about how VPW never allowed drugs among the hippies. This was mentioned a couple times I remember. I found the emphasis on that point odd. Maybe it begged the question.

So . . . . . . did drugs help move The Word?

Yes and no. The *word* was very much another drug. Maybe the drug moved itself..

I disagree. I have experienced a world system (including twi) where bullying was encouraged and orchestrated from top down, and there were no other options.
