  1. Hello Uncle H. You have some pretty good comments. I think a lot of wayfer mentality accepted almost anything that somebody, especially an "instructed" higher up would speak in "prophecy" as coming straight from the Lord, as long as there were no glaring irregulaities, and that it generally fit the bill of exhortation and/or comfort.

I don't know.. this one really did not sit right with me. Quite true that hindsight is always 20-20! But you know, all of those little doubts and funny feelings about stuff through the years , along with the stuff "put on the back burner" really start to add up.

  2. That's funny- I think I vaguely remember it. Kind of funny how people go to so much trouble to keep the squirrels out of the birdfeeder. Unless you are really are a bird lover, I think the squirrels provide a little more entertainment.

  3. "Alternatively, you may consider using the un-discarded macaroni boxes. Carefully cut them into two inch by two inch squares. After applying the vaseline, your guests may not notice the difference."

  4. "If you wish, Vaseline or any less costly generic petroleum jelly may be substituted for otherwise high fat and high cholesterol items such as butter. Indeed, Vaseline is prized as a nutritious condiment in some parts of the world. You may consider mixing a tablespoon of garlic powder into the condiment before applying it to saltine crackers for the snack for one of your next household fellowships. (nice picture of bowl and mixing utensils are placed under the recipe).

  5. Hello Coolwaters too. Well, the big birds only get a peck or two at the walnuts before the squirrel bites them. I've seen him really latch on too. If the college squirrels continue getting the same diet, I think you are right- they will be ground squirrels. At least the kids are not eating so much junk, as the squirrels get it. Suprised they are still alive though. They couldn't run fast, and we do have fox and coyote coming into the city limits.

  6. Could be, but I only usually see the one. Real big blackbirds have also started coming. The squirrel chases them off. Now the squirrels at one of the big schools here are HUGE. Some of them are the diameter of cats, the other proportion being squirrel-like. They hang out outside of the school cafeteria. Kids throw them whole sandwiches, bagels, french fries, etc. The squirrels can climb trees still- barely.

  7. I am not trying to beat a dead horse here, but.. what did you actually THINK when you heard that prophecy? Here were my exact thoughts: "this man knows something that he is not telling us." Like a good renewed mind wafer, I dismissed this as thinking evil of someone at a vulnerable time.

I would really like to know- It may have been a long time ago, but if you remember, what were your thoughts?

  8. It just makes me wonder where he is putting all of those walnuts. Really.. a half a pound a day- and that's already shelled! He is not really that plump. Pretty cold weather here. Must burn it off pretty fast.

  9. My brother told me that I am "just eccentric enough" that I could show up early the first day of one my next classes, dressed in a fairly nice shirt, pants, hair properly greased back. I should begin to say: "good morning (or evening) students. My name is professor (insert name). I will be taking professor so and so's place this semester. Welcome to Chemistry 220." He thinks I would really have them rolling in the aisles when the real prof showed up.

  10. They could use a little pot to calm them down. Just last week, I saw one of them pull out a switchblade and stick another one for working the wrong side of the street..

  11. Not so sure.. I think during World War II, they proved to be very poor pilots, wrecked more planes than they could get off the ground. They were called "grounded" squirrels.

  12. "In an emergency or famine, Ivory soap may also be prepared for consumption. Only ivory soap can be cooked, other soaps will not work. Place 3 bars of soap in microwave.

Adjust microwave to high setting for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes your suprise dinner will be waiting for you."

  13. Congrats to you likewise, Reikilady, and Raf too. I still have "about" a year and a half to an associates in Chem, plus or minus a semester, depending on current boss, schedule, etc. At least the end is in sight for now. I am really impressed with the local community college here. The math and science program is as good if not better than what the big dogs have to offer..
