  1. Can someone answer my question regarding viruses, etc.? I've had so much crap on my computer and took me months of working with Microsoft's inept team of experts to even use my computer in a limited fashion but no internet. I've loaded every munching program I could to clean it up on my own and now run Spybot Search & Destroy daily. Every time I run it, the problem it identifies is called "DSO Exploit". Whether I use the Internet or not, each time that one comes up. Yesterday, I ran Spybot in Safe Mode and I also got "Windows Ad Tools" and one called "CallingHome.biz". When Spybot is running and it flashes all the files it's checking, I see a lot of X-rated and porn sights (believe me, I don't go there) but none of them come up in the problem list. Are they old files that have previously been quarantined???? I do use Mozilla Firefox as my browser and have Norton Anti-Virus running as well as Spybot. Anyone know what the DSO Exploit is? Paw, John R., Socks????? Thanks guys. J.
  2. Yes she is here in Indianapolis. I haven't spoken to her for about 2 years, but last I saw her she had a decorating business. She's involved with the local Geer group here. J.
  3. uh-ohs??? I like ohzies :)--> J.
  4. I've known Rochelle's brother for years and still cannot believe he's in a VP-worshipping splinter group. Some of us on the field heard about Rochelle cuz we knew Al, but it was all very hush, hush about how she had died. The accident at LEAD was mentioned on a SNS tape by LCM if I'm not mistaken - - but it was a blathering indictment of how unspiritual either the LEAD leadership or the corps folks involved were - - can't remember now. J.
  5. Actually, after reading so many posts here of people who did speak up, I think there were quite a LOT of folks who did speak up, however enabling our behavior was the rest of the time. J.
  6. Holy crap! ;)--> Well, if it makes you feel even a little better, for some of us who did speak up and get into regular "disagreements" with our "leadership" it didn't usually matter. The problems were a lot bigger than a small number of voices. ((((((((TheHighway))))))))) J.
  7. Yeah, Alfie - - I didn't count all the in-city moves either. Although one of my favorite in-city moves was into the house with your seestors before they went in residence. :)--> What a fun year THAT was! (I still cannot believe they loved CANNED tamales - - even after I tried to introduce them to the real thing) ;)--> J.
  8. Let me be the first to congratulate you on reaching 5000. I'm glad you heeded Master Strange's advice and made it here! J.
  9. Really! Holy crap! How'd they keep that one out of the news? I NEVER heard about it. What year? J.
  10. Was in from 73-89 (16 years) and moved 10 times. My poor oldest son who was born in 1976! J.
  11. Simon: Is that more derech benai adam????? J. ;)-->
  12. Interesting observations, Jay. Welcome to Greasespot. Jardinero
  13. Senoritas like me do not need mind pictures like Tut, thank you very much. J.
  14. I know Excie - - I've listened to a few of the interviews - - it's hard to watch and think about. My 14 yr. old son just came back from his 8th grade trip to Colonial Williamsburg, Washington D.C., etc. They crammed a lot of cool stuff into 5 days, but the first thing he recounted to me was their visit to the Holocaust Museum. He felt such a profound sadness when they went into the room where all the shoes from the victims are displayed. Thousands and thousands of them. He said he was just stunned and that all of them who were there were absolutely silenced. It really stayed with him for a while even after he came back. I hope he never forgets that experience. J.
  15. (I think you were previously Servants of the ....heads, Excie) J. ;)-->
  16. Oh yeah, duh. I fogot cgeer was 7th also! Poor R*cardo. Probably didn't know what a snake pit he was walking into! Thanks, Sky. J.
  17. Belle: We know your question was serious, but it really shows you weren't told much about the earlier twi. J*hnny T*wnsend was in twi since the 60's - - came shortly after doing time in the Army (I think it was the Army). He married Naomi who was in the 1st Corps (they are still married and live in Beavercreek, OH). He was one of VP's early assistants and one of the few (like Donnie Fugit) who was allowed to teach PFAL live. He also spent a lot of time as a Limb Leader in Kansas - - also did time in NY and CA. He was one of the more "mature" younger people VP relied on who was instrumental in helping build the ministry from the 60s through the 80s. Could always be counted on to "put out fires". (He came into Calif. in 1976 or so when the previous Limb guy was involved in a sex scandal, etc., and came to restore "order"). He was at HQ quite a bit off and on over the years. So when POP .... hit the fan, he was naturally one of the choices to help "return the ministry to God's Word". Yes, he is still running Geer classes - - I believe the only one licensed in Ohio. Has a number of old time PFAL grads in the area he still fellowships with. I don't know all of Ricardo's background, but his father was very high up in gov't in Argentina when Ricardo got involved in the ministry. He graduated from the 7th Corps and he and his wife ran Argentina for a number of years. Not too many years after POP, he and his wife split, she continuing to run Argentina for twi. He's remarried now, but I don't know what he is doing. Why he was brought in to help as a Trustee after POP, I have no idea. Perhaps some of the folks who were at HQ at the time might know better than me. I will say, he's a very sweet, kind man. J.
  18. Yeah, Tommy T. - - "present truth" --> - - I'm still reeling over the "Liberty Lobby" info that Sunesis posted on the other thread. Man were we snowed by THAT revelation!!!! I think that would fall under #3 of Satori's post - - Senses oriented "revelation" - - HA! J.
  19. Yes, Excie - - present company excluded! :D--> J.
  20. Exactly, Simon. So sad. But then, look on the bright side, you and the other surviving reprobate 9th Corps keep us very entertained here. :D--> ;)--> :P--> Humor is very healing. J.
  21. Ha, ha, ha, Socksie! :D--> You're not well! :P--> J.
  22. Yeah, makes me melt and tear right up, Simon! ;)--> J.
  23. The Highway said: Got me to thinking about people who have lived with alcoholics (or people with other forms of abusive behavior). Because alcoholics are so often out of control, the people who live with them develop the habit of "reading the room" (is it safe, are they in a good mood or bad mood, how do I have to modify my behavior to not cause any waves?). The alcoholic is often a demanding perfectionist with impossible to achieve, often changing standards they subject others to. The people who live with this type of behavior are frustrated, beat down, suffer from low self esteem (for not being able to achieve the impossible), etc., etc. But some of the longer term effects of having to live this way is that those people sometimes develop their own obsessive, controlling behavior in response to having to live with the often out-of-control alcoholic. Although some of these folks develop into alcoholics or pick up other out of control behavior, some adopt the opposite behavior and become control freaks themselves where neatness, time management, other sorts of nit picky details become an obsession - - out of a pure survival tactic - - to be able to control SOME portion of their current or previous out-of-control lives. Those are VERY DIFFICULT habits to lose (as I can personally attest to having lived with an alcoholic for 18 years). The reason I bring this up here is because of the narcissism and alcohlic behavior previously discussed in relation to VPW (and probably lcm)and was, IMHO, present in quite a number of leaders (some of whom come to mind are G*r*ald Wr*nn, D*ve B*dard, LCM, and countless folks who have served in a "leadership" capacity). I think many who were involved in twi and the Corps in particular, developed "control freak" behavior part due to the "group think" of the organization they were involved in, but part (IMHO)as a survival mechanism to the changing standards being mandated by these maniac "leaders" - - which were (and are) impossible to achieve. J.
  24. Attached garage that opens into my laundry room. Yes I park my car there at night, but if a certain boy doesn't quit collecting things from the woods and creek behind our house and saving them in the garage for his forts and other building projects, my car may get inched out soon :)--> J.
