Cath, it sounds like one Jerry and Co. might have had something to do with.

"If the bio parent can and is willing to receive treatment in an offender program, courts will generally work toward unification as in the best interest of the child." My problem with this is that most "treatment programs" don't work and the percentage of offenders who repeat their crimes is extremely high. **darn - posted by Abigail***

Yeah, he's kinda the male Carole King. Don't know why he hasn't sung it in that long. I Googled some of the lyrics and got only 112 hits. 111 referring to the song. But there was one cached site where there was a poem by Jacquelyn Helton, a woman who died at the age of 20 with bone cancer. I don't know if he met her or not, but it would seem likely he has at least heard of her.

This is a song I've been listening to like a mental patient (I like to think of it as an 'mp3' song, since I will listen to it at LEAST three times in a row ) It's a song the artist hasn't done in public for about 30 years, so perhaps it qualifies for nostalgia. HERE! (take note, it says bOsm, not bDsm, )

Well, if you want to get to Carnegie Hall...............

Did you happen to get the installation kit with said radio? That would probably tell you if you need to do anything about those wires. Just don't turn the radio on without the speakers attached. More than likely, you'll blow it up (figuratively). I know this from personal exp.

Glad you made it home safely, George.

Much as I hate to be a killjoy about something as important as this, I feel I must speak up. I was listening to NPR the other day, and Diane Rehm had someone on who worked for a congressman. Perhaps, this will give what I'm about to relate more weight. What he said was, emailing your congressperson or senator isn't worth paper it's written on. The same goes for email petitions. They (the congresspeople) don't really pay that much attention to them. The one almost guaranteed way to get their attention is to call their local campaign office. Even better than that, is putting together a thoughtful letter to him/her. Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

"And so, I wonder what Mr Marcincko's doing these days with the Iraq War going on and all...Probably something..." Probably, but even less likely, not anything you're going to read about in the papers. Some of my faves: Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy-Douglas Adams Anything by Tom Bodett Patrick MacManus is also good. The Incarnations Of Immortality series by Piers Anthony. Excellent series proposing a different view of how the world works. I'm not advocating it as a world view, but it's just as good an explanation as any holy book I've seen. The only downside to the above series is, they were written to be stand alone books. This means there's a lot of repetition. I would have rather he wrote one long book.

"mj, you need to get your facts straight" Belle, I am truly shocked you would even suggest a hint of discrepancy between mj's reality and the reality the rest of us live with.

Are you talking about Richard Marcinko, Belle?

Assume for a moment there is no God...

Again, we thank you all for your warm wishes.

Just as an aside, the person who played Johnny Fever was Howard Hesseman. :) And yet another one, at the time, if I had to choose between Loni Anderson and whoever played Bailey, I would go with Bailey.

It is not so much that one is expressing an opinion. It is the degree of intensity. One time my ex mother in law said to me when I was being a little $*@!, "Have you ever been so sure about something and been wrong?" I don't claim to know much, especially when it involves things religious. Spirituality (there may be a difference, but I would be hard pressed to see it) may have it's place, but it isn't up to me to define it for someone else. What goes on between one person and their god, is none of my damn business. The only way it would be is if their actions directly affected me. Lifted Up said, "But I think what we do in private can affect others, even if not at the moment." In relation to the thread's topic, can you expand on this?

***Oops - posted by Abigail*** "the rapist can (and I guess has) use that acceptance to fall back on when accused...like, "she came up with me; how was I supposed to know she didnt want to do it?"." It is simple - did she say "no"? One should only have to say that word one time.

I'm confused by this LU. What exactly are you saying?

I nearly always find these threads amusing, if for no other reason than, some people who were in a cult (or, high demand group, if you prefer) can find it in their hearts to be judgmental about what someone else does. I guess I just don’t see how what someone does in the privacy of their own bedroom affects me (unless, of course, it’s my bedroom). If someone could help understand this, I would greatly appreciate it.

There is a reason for this, Belle. A divorce is one of the most significant life changes, second only to (but not by much) the death of a spouse. Some might even make a good case for it being equal. In any event, divorce does have a significant impact on one's health. To wit, the health difficulties you've already expressed.

This is probably a Joiseyism, but here goes......... Yer flying low.

Abigail and Sushi are ecstatic to announce the legalization of their relationship of five years. At approximately 10:00 am, the morning of Friday the thirteenth (they aren‘t superstitious), they had the ceremony performed by a judge (who did NOT appear to be sober) at the courthouse. Tears of joy were shed by many, as no one in their right mind thought this was ever going to happen. Following the ceremony, all in the bridal and groomal party were treated to a sumptuous meal at Max & Erma’s. Damage to the restaurant was minimal, as all children in attendance were heavily medicated and their dogs were not allowed in. However, the adults were safely wired on Starbucks coffee. Unfortunately, Sushi’s friend of 25 years, (yes, he does have one or two) Dirtbag, could not be in attendance. Sushi and Abi intend to visit some time in the near future to introduce them. The rest of the day was spent with much merry making and general conviviality. The police did not have to be called to the scene. This was considered, by most, to be a good thing. We both thank all of you for being there when we needed you and hope we have done the same for you. We would like to especially thank Paw for making our meeting possible, and no doubt will be sending the legal bills to him, once we can’t stand each other any more. Cash (but only in chunks of five hundred thousand dollars, unmarked) may sent to…………………

Sounds like Fiona Apple to me.
