The exactness "factor" : a method of cult control
oldiesman replied to pjroberge's topic in About The Way
This is another point where we disagree, Rascal. I think we could have left anytime we wanted. We did. I think we stayed, because we received benefits and blessings. When things became unacceptable, we left. Individual cases may vary. -
One of the things I never quite understood is why some folks feel that getting folks signed up for PFAL was an evil scam. What's evil about wanting folks to have the same knowledge of the bible you have? We thought PFAL was a great class that would help them, which was why we wanted folks signed up. Folks who didn't think it was a great class, acted differently.

The exactness "factor" : a method of cult control

Hi Pat, so then what you're saying is, the reason why we decided to stay in TWI for 10, 15, 20, 25 years is because TWI taught us exact answers that made sense and we fully accepted, like how to get born again, dead not being alive, Jesus is not God, etc. etc.? I think I agree, although our conclusions are different. -

Zix, what's your opinion on the paramount impression I got that Christ "gave his life", as opposed to the Jews/Roman's taking it? Did the film make a good enough point of that?

IMF, I must be missing something, who's her new spouse? Still a scam, since she was there all those years without Craig...
-
One big scam in my mind are the poor Way Corps folks who went thru the program, earned their diploma, then later got hassled by Craig, Donna, Rosalie & Co. for not walking by their rules. Heck, you earned that distinction even if you want to go your own separate way. Another scam: why is Donna Martindale still at headquarters? All the Way Corp spouses who were asked to leave the Corps, or headquarters, because their spouse may have blown it, and she gets a free pass?

He'd make another fortune...imagine prequels and sequels on this topic...

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I didn't get the reason why Mary mopped up the blood after the scourging. Can't find it in that 199-page link.

I just bought a Panasonic DVD Recorder that was on sale for $479.00, regularly $539.00. I heard somewhere that by the end of the year, these things might be had for around $200.00. I also can tape all the movies I want from my cable company thru their premium service of online movies. It costs a little more per month but I think it's worth the extra expense.

I thought Mel did a good job of conveying, in various scenes, that Christ "gave his life" for us. Although the torture was at the Jews insistence, and the Romans doing the dirty work, Christ could have curtailed it at any time if he wanted to. Instead he chose the torture. WOW, what a Master!

WOW, what a terrific film for someone who wants to have a greater appreciation for Christ's sacrifice. Highly recommended!

Here's the page that Goey mentioned: "...there was literally physical sexual intercourse between The Holy Spirit and Mary..." Look Under "Reinterpretation of the Bible"

The Way denies "salvation by grace" CARM, line 3 "doctrines"

Good point Raf.

Thanks for sharing that Greg.

This is part of the Greasespot experience. If I say something nice about TWI, someone may discredit what I say, to make TWI look bad. Same method. It's all part of the experience. Perhaps we should move onto some new business.

Tom, as I said before, I can't prove the statement I made. The person I referred to doesn't want to be involved. So you'll just have to make up your own mind whether it's right or wrong. If you don't believe what I say, I will take no offense -- because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However I wish some others would extend to me the same courtesy. Rascal, I never called Coolwaters a liar. Please stop accusing me of calling someone a liar if I happen not to agree with all or part of their statements. You've done that more than once. Have you ever served on a jury? Jurors get to hear conflicting testimony, and it's up to them to decide what they want to believe, and what they don't. This board is a lot like that. We decide for ourselves what we want to believe based upon varied experiences.
-
Tom, I can't prove it...this is a board of opinions and I said my statement was "possible". In contrast to other statements made that are taken AS GOSPEL... By the way, do you believe everything you read on the internet, without question? Didn't think so.
-
I've heard lots of statements "I believe" are false accusations, but others disagree.
-
You need to speak in tongues in order to get saved.

No joke...that was the statement alleged.

And I stated that it's possible the Wierwille's didn't know what was going on. VP was out of the loop, was sick at the time with his glass eye and other things and having all his letters screened. Also, I have been informed (from someone who was in a position to know) that Don Wierwille didn't know about Coolwaters incident either. So I have expressed my doubt to part of Coolwaters story and have reasonable knowledge that what I believe is possible. You can doubt my story, or you can doubt Coolwaters story, you can believe both, or doubt both. But one thing is certain: there is no definite proof what Coolwaters said about all the Trustees knowing everything that was happening. There I've said it twice now. I hope I won't be asked about this again.

Saying one may be "worthy of death", and saying "satan will kill you", are unsemblable. Mike, if you're reading this, what's your take on this? Did you ever hear Dr. Wierwille say that if we left TWI, "satan would kill us"?
