frickafrack- you don't know the love exc and i speak of you could ask and no one blamed the bottle it is the person and the bottle and there is more then just one person to look at the problem is in the mind and body stopping drinking is only the start you must not read too well or comprehend and Jonny, i used to have more respect for your comments i hope you can make some that make sense

my friend has no more desire to drink but still goes because she wants to friends are made and progressive relationships-friends it's not there to look for a mate there is a bond there that has happened and not a bond that is an addiction but one that is not forgotten and appreciated hi exc, good to see ya i'm not doing great i have ups and downs still bad times and good it's part of life how we deal with them is the subject dealing with problems or even good times with alcohol it's not the answer for me anymore love

just for the record aa is not to be an addiction itself what is learned there and experienced can stay in your life without the meetings but the meetings are important they sre there for you not you for them for life the things learned there can be with you without the meetings i'm learning and there are non-smokers and non coffee drinkers there too in the beginning go as much as possible my friend who first recommended aa sober for 3 years still goes to meetings sometimes to help and to be helped it is a PROGRESSIVE 'approach' not a one size fits all cure

plus you didn't take it off or smoke which you could have done and even if you did you can try again untill it's beaten people who have quit smoking i've often heard still have the craving for one yet even past the patch they use that inner strength to not do it a person at one meeting talked about her friend who was trying to persuade her to go to a bar but she didn't, she decided not to because she knew what would happen she beat it that day it was hard for her to resist but she beat it she won one day at a time that day she won 4 months without a drink and she beat it another day 4 months of days she won 4 months of moments she won

thanks Linda. What I mean by crutch is that aa can't do it for you. Just like the patch didn't do it for you. You decided to get help and use the patch. So it is you who did it not the patch. I hope this is understood. You decided to do what was needed not the patch.

i'm not promoting this as a bible or something but these are real and true documentations of help received aa is a help not a crutch http://www.aa.org/bigbookonline/en_tableofcnt.cfm also God as we understood or understand can change

i'm staying sober, sometimes i want a drink but must not follow through with that thought, so i quit thinking it aa offers support and answers to those who want to quit alcohol alcohol is addictive and abused bad things do happen I agree, but here is a warning to those who drink. There is even one on the bottles.

never brought up ... well till now and you are ignorant of aa, it shows in how you have spoken about it have you ever even read anything in this thread? is your mind so hardened against anyone receivng something that you don't understand are you so dense that you cannot change your mind?

Chas, This is where many start. Confused and lost. Needing direction. Of course that direction is suggestions. because it is up to the individual. Don't be to hard on ignorance. Everyone is ignorant of something. Pond posted and that is worth something. And I can handle it. Not saying for others to not respond. But talking is good.

you are getting closer pond i can go to work after smoking a cig and function normally i can't go to work after drinking and function normally alcohol is more powerful then cigs more impairing of the mind more addictive and worse consequences you are arrested for drinking then driving not for smoking then driving it's ALTERING AFFECTS ARE DEADLY AND SOMETIMES IRREVERSIBLE

it's not just a feeling it's a mental and physical craving an addiction a disease that runs through every part of your mind and body past the point of no return although i have heard of one instance that one person could go back to just having one i doubt that will be me it's been a problem off and on for years for me so i can't take that chance or i'm a dead man
  14. cman

    aa

i know that pond but you have included everyone in your posts like i said read em perhaps you didn't say what you meant and this thread is about aa not those who don't have a problem with alcohol get it?
  15. cman

    aa

leave the rest of your statement out and you have part of it
  16. cman

    aa

not everyone knows that pond as far as the rest of your last post YOU SHOULD REALLY READ WHAT YOU SAID as if someone else said it telling me to be strong? wtf do you think aa is doing?

and that separatre world of the one with the bottle and still drinking doesn't know how to stop has no hope put s the barrel of a gun in his mouth and pulls the trigger ending life literally or figuratively both are horrible deaths that can be avoided with help you defy the help that is there pond you are an enabler of the downward spiral
  18. cman

    aa

this is what will change with help you really should retract some of your uninformed statements it is you guessing, not a real understanding i put the focus on you because you put it on me then perhaps as now...maybe you can see what the help is about what is in quotes is part of the problem therefore the help aa offers allows the person to break out of this 'world'.
  19. cman

    aa

i do and already have and there is help for you too but you have to seek it out or it will not be beneficial

you have no idea what you are talking about pond till you have been there and experienced it and honest enough to see it your addiction seems to be plain to see you don't understand and don't want to you get your jollyies by putting people down when they are going up you are an antagonist narrowminded uninformed it is not about life revolving around alcohol it's about people helping people of which you apparently have no clue how it works
  21. cman

    aa

And it's not surprising to me that someone would try to talk me into me not having a problem with alcohol. It's all over the tv and circles of friends and in the minds of people who cannot broaden their perspective as sirguessalot lovingly put it. aa is not the only way but it's what i need now and you will not talk me out of it nor will your attitude hinder me but make me stronger to face this head on with moderation. aa knows how to help you help yourself. So do other people that are right here at greasespot. Yet they are overlooked and wrote off as crazy or something.

Thanks Belle, Pond it isn't about alcohol, it's about people helping people with the same problem. Just like greaspotcafe wouldn't you think. There is no one proud of there drinking but certainly proud that they have stopped. Some relapse, but still come back because they know where the help is. And I forget who said it about talking face to face, ithink another forum. But when this happens there is contact with this person, nowhere to hide, honesty is a must. This is where a lot of the help comes from. being with people who know and you can't fool them. The old timers for sure. There are those that are there that have quit for a long time. But they still need to help and be helped. People need people. That is the way we are. It is not good for man to be alone. Ever wonder why?

reach your arms up and stretch for a minute or two bring them down and wrap them around yourself feel the love that is there breath deeply for 8 or 10 times think of nothing or good things then let go and relax practice this in private occasionally it helps this isn't from aa but from a friend

well vp isn't the point nor do i mind him talked about but he needed it his lack of honesty shows in history started this thread cuz i needed to and hopefully help someone else who is in denial plenty of stories i've read so far that hit home people who have stopped for decades and then started again loosing what they gained in material and mental capacities it can be ignored and hidden well by many but it's seen by some i pray that some who have heard will listen and take positive action aa is helping me without it i would evenyually loose everything when does one want the elevator to stop going down in self esteem, in peace, in things we need emotionally and physically an honest look in the mirror few can handle it that are entrapped by addictions and yes you can live with the way you are enslaved as much or worse then twi or take a step forward stop a train wreck before it happens stop the continual self destruction that you've learned how to hide from others but some see it, wether you think so or not for those who can have one and not another good for you but watch out cuz that succer is powerful and the power to defeat alcohol is in you no one else but most need help when it's gone past the point of no return honestly look at yourself and see if you like what you see if you don't, there are ways to make it better aa is a powerful help the serenity prayer has meaning the Lord's prayer does to his will on earth for you as it is in heaven both heaven and earth are within
