  1. It's funny, but I was thinking just an hour ago about that final scene from the "Ten Commandments"

of Moses ascending the mountain, accompanied by Elmer Bernstein's angelic choir and lush orchestration.

And then I read online that "Moses" really has left us.

Thank you Charlton Heston. You have truly been a gift to mankind, and will continue to

entertain all for ages to come.

    Well said Dan!

His life really was a gift.

  2. I was thinking Melville too when I saw George's response so I googled it. I recently read this book or one on the same subject and was especially interested in the Whitfield quote. Here's another quote by the same author on his church-going or lack thereof which I thought was especially interesting. (Dan, hope it's okay to chime in here since I disqualified myself by googling it.)

Tho' I seldom attended any public worship, I had still an opinion of its propriety, and of its utility when rightly conducted, and I regularly paid my annual subscription for the support of the only Presbyterian minister or meeting we had in Philadelphia. He us'd to visit me sometimes as a friend, and admonish me to attend his administrations, and I was now and then prevail'd on to do so, once for five Sundays successively. Had he been in my opinion a good preacher, perhaps I might have continued, notwithstanding the occasion I had for the Sunday's leisure in my course of study; but his discourses were chiefly either polemic arguments, or explications of the peculiar doctrines of our sect, and were all to me very dry, uninteresting, and unedifying, since not a single moral principle was inculcated or enforc'd, their aim seeming to be rather to make us Presbyterians than good citizens.
  3. I have a feeling that this crowd (myself included) spends a lot less time with books than we do with movies, TV, or the radio, but I'll give it a shot:

    Herman Melville

You didn't mention needing a title. I'm thinking Moby Dick, of course, but maybe Billy Budd.

    George

    Where's the next quote?

  4. It no longer matters to me if I ever hear back from him. I've forgiven him, twi, and best of all, ME. I'm thrilled with the way I feel inside now. I had been carrying around tons of guilt that I really didn't need to carry - for years and years.

Sure, I'd like to hear why they did what they did to me and my son, but it no longer matters to me. It used to be very important to me. I feel truly liberated in a way I hadn't realized I wasn't free. I feel like my healing has really stepped up a notch here. Now I feel free-er than ever!

Praise God! Thanks for sharing this!

I'm appalled but not surprised at what you went through, but I'm so happy that you are free and healed and can share your deliverance with others.

  5. Here is another source on him.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. and was awarded a M.D. degree from Universidad Centro de Estudios Tecnicos Escuela de Medicina Republica Dominicana.

That just doesn't seem the direction most world famous cardiologists would have gone to get their MD degree.

To be fair as to his credentials as a cardiologist I would add the rest of the credentials listed in the article:

    Background on Dr. Crandall:

Dr. Crandall serves at the Palm Beach Cardiovascular Clinic in Palm Beach Gardens. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. and was awarded a M.D. degree from Universidad Centro de Estudios Tecnicos Escuela de Medicina Republica Dominicana. In addition, he has done post-doctoral work as an intern and as a resident in medicine at Yale University School of Medicine; as a fellow in cardiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine; and as a intervention cardiology fellow at the Medical College of Virginia. He has served as an instructor in the Department of Medicine, Cardiology Division at Beth Israel Hospital, Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He also has served as an associate faculty member at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C. and as a visiting professor at St. George's University School of Medicine in Granada, West Indies.

Dr. Crandall has been in private medical practice since 1995 and holds medical staff privileges at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and Jupiter Medical Center. A noted lecturer both nationally and internationally, Dr. Crandall has spoken on topics including heart transplant, interventional cardiology, preventive cardiology and cardiology health care of the elderly.

    He sounds qualified to me.

  6. from the article:

Uhhmmm, no. The answer of how the man came back to life is clearly indicated in the first sentence of what Crandell said. The heart shock paddles. So they didn't work the first few times. That's common in situations like this.

And frankly, I have my serious doubts as to him 'being dead' for an hour. Was he starting to go into rigor mortis? Bodies don't start to decompose until well after an hour. And what about this part? "His face, his arms, his legs were pitch black with death. I said, 'Let's just call the code, let's end it because there's no life left." Really? So after being dead for about an hour, a body is 'pitch black with death'? Dead bodies don't go 'pitch black' after only an hour.

Another flaw: "Jeff Markin: "I was actually standing in the back of the funeral home, and I came to realize that this was my funeral." Huh? I didn't know that they started the funeral even while he's still at the EM. (Besides, don't they wheel the lifeless body _out_ of the EM in order to prepare it for burial? So that the next emergency patient can get treatment?) Also, Jeff supposedly was talking to an (angel?) named ... Bob. :biglaugh:

What do the medical records show? See, all we have here is an unverified account of one doctor and one patient. Notice no accounts recorded from the other nurses/doctors.

This is a very questionable (if not downright laughable) 'news account'. And that the news station cast it as a viable story doesn't do anything for its journalistic credibility. ... Oh wait, it's a Fox News channel. That explains it!

    <_<

Garth, Are you a Dr.? I'd think the Dr. who was attending the man in the emergency room would be a more reliable witness than someone who isn't a Dr. and who wasn't there.

  7. okay okay who was the youngest linda kazee or wrds and wrks ?????

Wow Exie, I'm not sure. I think Patty Fay, Jeanie Kesw*ck, Linda Kazee and someone else whose face I can picture but whose name I can't think of right now and I were all about the same age, but I'm not sure who was the youngest.

    Happy Happy Birthday

From all of me to you ....

Jubilee year? you are only 50?

    holy Cow ...

you get the whole year off now, right?

since at your next jubilee year you will be 100, you might borrow a little of those festivities and apply them to this year ...

    Thanks Rhino!

I love the way you say only 50. I think I'm going to start counting backwards now, so next year I'll be 49.

  8. Thanks for the birthday wishes! I really appreciate it. I'm looking forward to the next 50! Thanks for helping me celebrate JUBILEE!

Leviticus 25:10 And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.

Thanks for being part of my (spiritual) family!

    Karie

  9. Hi Tex! What a nice tribute to your Mom, I know I still miss mine after 28 years. She sounds like such a great lady, I'm praying for comfort for you.

Thanks for sharing your blog. I'm looking forward to reading your book.

  10. To claim cult status you have to have the mog in front.

Tom Brown came to HQ to run his school in Dec. of 80.

A few had gone to New J to take it before he came.

VP was at HQ at that time for a few days because it was during the

time the Christmas party was there.

It was a fun school. I was raised a very much out door kind of guy and

still love it to this day.

VP could go off at anything that took away from he being the head.

I guess JC had a time making his way in our lives.

VP would of and did knock him out of the lime light putting himself

    and the word before him.

My hubby was charged with taking care of Tom Brown and his staff during this HQ tracker school. He observed "up close and personally" how VP reacted to having Tom Brown around.) He said VP was extremely jealous of Tom Brown. At the first dinner meal for the school which was served in the OSC, Tom Brown and his staff went and served themselves as soon as the food was set out (of course not knowing anything about HQ protocol.) VP was livid that he got his food before the MOG got his. VP reamed Tom Brown, "You think you're the Tracker, but you're nothing....", cursing at him and tearing into him. This was the 1st night of the school. Tom Brown's staff wanted him to leave after this, but TB was gracious enough to stay.

Another time during that school Tom Brown, who was a chain-smoker, lit a cigarette up in the BRC, while he was teaching his class. VP was so put out with TB because he was the only one allowed to smoke in the BRC.

They also hated the food at HQ and they were very grateful to hubby for making a "McDonald's run" for them.

  11. Jerry seems to have some things backwards ... like who is full of sheet and what color our nametags were.

But that's OK ... we are all getting older :o

I admire the way you stay so positive here wrds' ... :)

Thanks Bill, I don't know, maybe it's the perceived anonymity that makes some people here so quick to be nasty.

Or maybe that's just the way New Yorkers talk...
