  1. It's not a tirade, Tom. It's just a mention. If I'm "gone," this is why it is. Big frog in a little pond. Answering to "power" is not allowed. Whatever.
  2. Modgellan has decided that it's his-or-her business to edit my posts. Believe me, they're not that evil. See my "AnotherDan might be banned" topic.
  3. Now I'm getting a PM from a mod to watch my step because Belle PM'ed me and I mentioned it on a thread. I told him if he doesn't like it to ban me, like they've banned Bumpy. Whatever. Really, this is bull s h i t. Life is too short to shrink from "big" frogs in little ponds. If my POV is unacceptable in GSC, then by all means, prevent me from participating. I'm thinking about taking a little trip up to Hap's for the clambake, but whatever. It will be hard to get the guitar on board, considering the means of transport. DWBH.... would hate to miss fellowshipping with you, especially since I could have both lobster and clams for only ten bucks!
  4. WW, you play the games well, but I do not know your author!
  5. Got the email, (Edited out a reference to an off-the-board contact from another poster) (signed) Troublemaker bulwinkle, you're going to be fine.

    Way Corps Site

Hey, I haven't been able to access the John and Hope's Ning site.... tried last night and now tonight. Anyone know what's going on?
  7. Lots of perspective on this thread.... Socks, thanks for starting and tending it. I'll be looking for that book-like thing!
  8. Good topic, and (I agree with Ron) good response, Geisha! There is coming a day, as I see it, when the Wisdom of God and the Purposes of God will be fully made known. Now, we see "through a glass, darkly," but then, "face to face." The Lord Jesus, central to Life, perfect Representative of both man and God, has been given all power and authority. He will judge as God would judge. And we'll all say, "amen!"
  9. wordwooooolf! where aaaaaaare you? lucky guess, I guess
  10. P-mosh, yeah, do post those recipes! As for the frijoles, forget it! Yeah, you can make them with vegetable oil, but they are never as "good" (tasting), IMO.
  11. Rascal said, Rascal, your experiences, that have caused you so much distress, may be one of the very things that will cause you to "actually know him." Hang in there, sister!
  12. Good points, Rascal and others. It was true for me, that the lordship of Jesus Christ was minimalized and marginalized, and like you, I have a much deeper appreciation not only for how he once stood in the gap for me and for the whole world, but also his current role as "head" and Lord. That said, I believe that we as Christians are his body, and in whatever ways are set before us, believers should be acting "in Christ's stead." This is quite different from the erroneous "absent Christ" doctrine. We act on his behalf, according to his teachings and commands. This may indeed take the form of prayer or other ways of "standing in the gap." It may mean sacrifice in some form. Thanks for bringing this up.
  13. Yup. I bet that's good, Ron. In Mexico, they often use an herb called epazote, especially if black beans are used instead of pintos. Here's a picture I took heading South from Mulege, Baja Sur, MX, last year around Thanksgiving: anotherDan at a roadside taqueria somewhere south of Ensenada
  14. I love frijoles refritos. If a Mexican restaurant doesn't have good refried beans, I don't return. We never had much "luck" making them at home, and canned just doesn't get it. So, after a little research online, I made my first GOOD batch of frijoles refritos today. It tastes moi authentico, even though I used bacon instead of lard or salt pork. Here's what I did. soaked a pound of pinto beans overnight, and changed the water a couple of times simmered them until tender chopped a third of a pound of bacon, raw, into little pieces, and fried them up crispy in a heavy-bottomed stainless steel pan. (Cast iron is traditional, but I'm not in my kitchen. Chopping the bacon first allows for one to stir it with a spatula, without turning the bacon a bunch of times to get the stubborn uncooked fatty parts which are curled up... works great) chopped a large Spanish onion (regular yellow.... not "sweet"), removed the bacon bits, and carmelized half of the onion in the bacon grease, then added a teaspoon of chopped fresh garlic to the pan for another minute or so, and then poured in some of the bean juice on top to deglaze the pan, then added the drained beans, some cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and chili powder When you drain the beans, reserve the juice. Yes, the fat stays in. Sounds awful. Tastes great. you can used a potato masher, but I used an electric mixer to break up the beans... works great... add only enough of the reserved bean juice to make it a little soupy then I turned the heat way down and let it set up for maybe an hour... no stirring You may have to experiment. You don't want to burn the bottom, but it should get a light brown crust on the bottom, which is delicious. You might need to put one of those cast iron plates under the pot... depends on your pot and your stove... the mass will rise up in big bubbles, and the whole mixture will stiffen somewhat to that texture we adore heated up some flour tortillas, spread some on, then the remainder of the chopped raw onion, and little cheese and salsa, and enjoyed Hope you will, too Two links of interest: Wikipedia Entry Homesick Texan
  15. LOL Jonny! You're right.... in their own time.... no need to rush anything. But it is cool to be a grandpa. Actually, Rachel, bless her heart (the pregnant one, above) gave birth to her second, and named her Violet. And now she has ANOTHER ONE on the way! Blessings abound! Violet, 30 min. old: Violet, recently: BTW, for those of you who don't know.... Jonny and I knew each other 'Way back when, in Southern California. And RG, thanks for posting my "challenged" friends pictures for him! That greasy one is priceless!
  16. Hey, if we had a "Beautiful Daughters" thread, I have two more that I'd include!
  17. I should also say that I didn't mean by "there are a lot of them over at the Way Corps site" that there aren't people like that here, too. I have met some great folks, here. Some that I agree with a lot, and some that I disagree with. I could name names, but I'd be sure to forget someone that should be mentioned. There are also some posters that I generally skip if they post on a thread I'm reading. I don't care for their POV at all, and I'm sufficiently clear as to what that is, and what they'll likely be saying, so I skip them. Maybe they skip me, too. edited to add a recent picture of our "middle" daughter, Lauren, on her "new" (1985) Honda CB650
  18. I'm glad I "make sense" to someone.... thanks, excie. Paw, the only reason it's none of "my business" is because you say so, and you make the rules. What I'm "talking about" is that I question that attitude. Maybe that makes me a candidate for the next banning. You tell me. My POV is underrepresented here at GS, IMO. The name "Grease Spot Cafe" is to me a delightfully irreverent thumbing-of-the-nose to LCM's now famous curse upon anyone who would leave the Way Ministry. That era saw the Great Exodus of some of the best and most honest leadership and "membership" that The Way had. My view is that there was rot at the root from early on, and eventually it reached its just end. It could have gone much differently, but it didn't. Some have lost faith in God, some in "religion" altogether, especially corporate religion, and some, like myself, have stayed a course that began before I was associated with the Way, continued while I was in it, and remains today. There was plenty of goodness in the Way Ministry. There was real love, real appreciation and respect for the Scriptures, real faith, wisdom, and fellowship. I'm not against anyone telling their varying experiences, good or bad, but that's me. I'm not against rules protecting the vulnerable, and I realize how difficult it is to do, and am glad I don't have that responsibility. But it is a shame, IMO, that the agenda is so narrow, here. It would be nice if there was a kinder attitude towards those who survived their Way experience with something valuable. Ideally, IMO, this could be a place where people with heart, intelligence, kindness, and all kinds of other good qualities could demonstrate that they did not become greasespots-by-midnight. There's a whole bunch of them over at the Way Corps site; of course there are many who were not Corps who are likewise (like waysider). Lots of folks who have moved on and have recognized the errors of DrW, LCM, and TheWay, and their own errors nevertheless won't come here and be a part of the "wake up" call, because the agenda is so narrow. Funny, but someone who has something positive to say is the one that's fair game, but if a person is bitter or has all kinds of nasty things to say about this person or that, or to ridicule their interpretation of "The Way's" interpretation of this or that is to be treated as a protected witness. Whatever! Jonny, great pics of the engine room and your daughter. She (and it) are indeed beautiful. Glad you had a nice visit with the Bumpmeister.... cheers, Bumpy! edit: PS. I thought about starting a thread where people could post names of those who have been banned, and why. I realize that that would be being a troublemaker. It would probably be quickly quashed, anyway. But I'd really like to know. No doubt some were banned for good reason, but perhaps not all. Bumpy was a pretty independent thinker, and crossed the lines of civility not a few times. I simply wanted to know what tipped the scales and got him banned. None of my business.
  19. that's what I'm talking about
  20. oh well who else has been banned for life? How 'bout it, Paw, will you publish a list? Larry Moore, I guess... who else?
  21. Banned for life? Marked and avoided! What serious GS rule did he violate? Bad Bumpy! Don't want his kind 'round here no mo.
