  1. But then there's this So, "old" couple or "odd" couple? Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon were "The Odd Couple"; this could be another of their movies. George
  2. I'm tempted to google 1969 movies. Even if not listed in box office order, it would be fairly easy to figure this one out. Sadly, I'm just not getting it yet. I was thinking "Funny Girl" (with Barbra Streisand); but that was 1968. George
  3. King Tut was the giveaway. New one soon. George
  4. I hate to see any of them go. You're right, though. It's hard to play with three. Where did Raf go? Even four is better. George
  5. If the band had many hits over several decades, I'm sure it wasn't "Both of You." WW wouldn't have made the "Lots. In multiple decades." remark if didn't know the actual name. So "Both of You" is a hint. The band must be U2. I don't know the song title. George
  6. I don't remember recording a set with Human, but, you know, drugs.... George
  7. I know I've heard that exchange. Can't recall the movie (right now). George
  8. I'm going to flip over the cards. If any of you were familiar with this show, the first clue would have given it away. The show is "The Chosen," about the early days of Jesus's ministry. It is well-written and acted, and is very engaging, never "preachy." Two seasons have been finished, so far. (The end of Season 2 is Jesus just getting ready to give his Sermon on the Mount.)) Most of the story line is in the Bible, but the Apostles' backstories are obviously embellished. The movie (at Christmastime) showed Mary and Joseph arriving in Bethlehem. There are also a few teachings (I found the one about the swaddling clothes particularly interesting) and a lot of music. You can watch it online: The Chosen Alternatively, you can download the ap to your phone and link to Roku on your TV. I HIGHLY recommend it. George
  9. Not getting it, though a more recent (than Wooly Bully) song with that opening seems vaguely familiar. Late 80s-early 90s? George
  10. Similar to the opening of Wooly Bully, but not it. George
  11. Burl Ives? George PS: I imagine there was at least a LITTLE gravitas to his WH Taft performance...
  12. This movie premiered at a length of 243 minutes. A week after the premiere, the film was reduced to 222 minutes, and edited further to 194 minutes for general release. The 194-minute version was the default broadcast television version for years; home video and cable television releases are of the full-length cut. This was originally intended to be two (consecutive) movies about the central character. Adjusted for inflation, this is one of the most expensive movies ever made. Its budget of $44 million is equivalent to over $400 million in 2021. The main character's navy required huge numbers of boats and ships. It was said at the time that Twentieth Century Fox had the world's third largest navy. George
  13. This current TV show is not on any network. In fact, you can't even use a streaming service until you first load the ap on your phone. The funding is completely crowd-sourced. Contributions are welcome, but not necessary. A movie featuring some of the characters had a limited distribution in theaters this past Christmas. The movie was about 30 minutes of plot/story and 60 minutes of musical numbers. The cast of characters is very familiar to most people on this website. A "period" show, it combines reasonable accuracy (except that all the actors speak English) but often uses 21st-century idioms, especially in lighter moments. A lot of the characters' backstories are embellished, as the source material is rather sparse in that regard. George
  14. Malachi Throne? (He's the chubbiest guy I can think of who played a Vulcan or Romulan.) George
  15. That's trivia with a capital T! George
  16. Not familiar with that one. He recorded a lot of good songs after AM&J, but none that received significant airplay (at least not in my neighborhoods). George
  17. Correct. It was Dion's only big hit after the early 60's. George
  18. All did play Lex Luthor. John Shea was in Lois and Clark (not bald). Rosenbaum was in Smallville (bald). Talbot was in an old movie; Howard was on the Superboy live series; Brown voiced Luthor in a number of cartoon series. George
  19. The Breakfast Club Anthony Michael Hall Sixteen Candles George
  20. One face instead of a thousand faces: Lon Chaney, Jr. Still don't get the yaks reference, but maybe this was a Wolfman movie? (The dog might have played the wolf...) George
