songs remembered from just one line
GeorgeStGeorge replied to bulwinkl's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
Louis Armstrong did the most memorable version. (The Sam Cooke song, "What a Wonderful World It Would Be" is the one that starts out "Don't know much about history...") And yes, my song does involve Mama Cass getting fat, but I'd prefer to have the name of the tune. The name of the tune does not appear in the lyrics. George -
Be that as it may, it's not ringing any bells with me. Sometimes, the context of a line makes it memorable. I'm not asking for the context here, I'm just saying that that is how I often remember something. George

The Man in the Moon reference leads me to guess "Taxi." George

I'll be on vacation for a few days, with less Internet access than usual, so go ahead and answer, if you know it. George -

And here I thought it was just because I was so good-looking! George

In the 80's, I was an Advanced Class Grad and Twig Leader, and it was apparently OK for me to date Corps women. Not that there were many around. I didn't really see much micromanagement of my personal life until the mid 90's, when the Corps were all salaried and had too much time on their hands. George

I think it's "Baby It's Cold Outside." It's an old jazz standard, but I couldn't give a particular performer. George

Having seen "Rain Man," that wasn't the line I would have picked as a giveaway, but apparently is was to Raf WordWolf. I was thinking of Al Pacino, blind, driving around in a sportscar. I eagerly await RafWolf's clue. George

Well, there are no movies titled "Thunder Close" or "Roar Close," so I have no idea. George -

It is, in fact, "Eureka." Home of Global Dynamics, the world's greatest "think tank," where something bad ALWAYS happens, and it usually takes the clever (but not brilliant) sheriff to save the day. You're up. George

No. "Leverage" is a great show, by the way. Archimedes would have named this show while stepping naked in a tub and noticing the water rise. George
