  1. "If I am wrong, I'm insane... but if I'm right, it's even worse than if I was wrong." "I'll just die if I don't get this recipe. I'll just die if I don't get this recipe. I'll just die if I don't get this recipe." "I can't just call him up and say, 'Hi! I used be Joanna Ingalls. You deflowered me twelve years ago. Would you check my water?'" "I don't think that, uh, Ed ever loved me. I mean, uh, he married me because I looked right and it made a big impression on the other TV executives for his wife to look like I look. God knows he's given me things, I... I'm not complaining on that score, but... uh... he never loved me." George
  2. I am completely lost. And the Raf-WW diversion didn't help any. George
  3. I think you've done it again, Human, unless these are the names of actors in a movie. I don't recognize any of the names. George
  4. FYI, I will be computer-free over the weekend. I'm sure you'll all struggle along without me. George
  5. Correct. With more power hitters and smaller ballparks, inside-the-park home runs are not as common as they once were. (Some balls hit in Forbes Field are STILL rolling...); but they do happen. The Reds have two of them already this year. Peralta's HR came when the outfielder crashed through the fence into the bullpen. His time around the bases was slower than most regular HR trots. Obviously, rounding the bases because of an error (or more) doesn't count (often called a "Little League HR"); but misplayed balls or balls lost in the sun (or, in one case, fog) do count. There was even one walk-off, inside-the-park grand slam. Roberto Clemente in 1956 against the Cubs at (of course) Fornes Field. Human, you're up George
  6. Back to baseball. This is a fairly rare occurrence in baseball, although it has happened three times already this year. Some interesting occurrences: On August 27, 1977, Texas Rangers teammates Toby Harrah and Bump Wills did this back-to-back. Ichiro Suzuki is the only player to have done this in an All-Star game. On April 6, 2009, Emilio Bonifacio of the Florida Marlins became the first player in 41 years to do this on Opening Day, On July 18, 2010, Jhonny Peralta of the Cleveland Indians took 16.74 seconds to accomplish this. Only 18 players have done this twice in one game. What is this occurrence? George
  7. John Quincy Adams was the first President elected in the House of Representatives, as no one had a majority in the Electoral College, so I'm guessing it was he. George
  8. This streaming show is based on a series of novels. Two movies have also been based on the novels. The actor playing the title character in the series is about twice the size of the actor playing him in the movies. Although the movie actor is a well-known action star, I find the TV actor more believable in this role. George
  9. Was that intentional, or did you just not understand the lyrics? Sometimes we hear very weird things. George

  15. And this thread is fond of this line. Silence of the Lambs "Well, I believe in the soul, the c-ck, the p-ssy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated cr-p. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days." George
  16. No, though she was in Dracula 2000 (perhaps why you thought of her). A lot of TV, but not many movies. Tomorrow Never Dies Tale of the Mummy Fast Food The Cherry Orchard Dracula 2000 Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life The Phantom of the Opera Beowulf & Grendel The Ugly Truth George
